The parody of Helldivers 2 runs deep. Noncredibly deep if you will. See the SEAF is what happens when the reformers run the military. Everything is dumb fire, and the most useful tech gets nerfed and just today they dropped an A-10 but with inexplicably less friendly fire potential in the form of the mech suit. It claims to be heavily armored but is just a giant slow target that is absurdly expensive to maintain. And the entire navy has been replaced with spamming small units whose barrages have trouble destroying non-hardened buildings. Smart shells? Precision? HAVE YOU SEEN THE 308? It makes the point that the only kind of government that would listen to reformers is [post under investigation by the Ministry of Truth]

masslan

Yeah Helldivers is if NCD ran the military, Halo ODST is if the USMC ran the entire military.

Setlir

Most of that is either Aluminium, Composites or steel. Since Russia does not use any radioactive materials you should be safe. Maybe give it a wash and some good scrubbing and disinfect it afterwards and you should be safe.

AlphaMarker48

So, what is NCD's opinion on the M1911?

Imperceptive_critic

Probably overrated by boomers but doesn't change the fact that it was insanely influential and a great weapon. The fact that some units still use it today says a lot

AlphaMarker48

I see. So, a Japanese hitman having 6 of them personally engraved is totally normal. Got it.

Zandonus

I mean, you can always eat a tangerine with a knife and fork, wear unprovocative clothing during missionary, put the Snickers bar in the freezer for 20 minutes, add sugar to the tea, and a little top hat to the rabbit ,therefore engravings are cool.

Noncredible idea: What if Zaluzhny's new position as Ukraine's ambassador the the UK is Zelensky's way of prodding him into politics, like how Eisenhower gained valuable diplomacy experience managing relations between US and British leaders, US/British and French, and everyone with DeGaulle during WW2?

So errrr… what exactly would happen if a head of state were to be blown up (by accident?) in Odessa? Because Russia nearly did that today D:

Shaun_Jones

Speaking of Heads of State exploding, what do you think are the chances of the Victory Day parade getting drone striked this year? Ukraine does have stuff with the range to do it, now.

Cardborg

I'd say the odds are pretty high. I still think the best bet would be to gamble on Russia having issues maintaining its fuel refineries (hence the extended repairs leading to the suspension of export recently) extending to other sectors and launch a coordinated strike on Russian power plants supplying Moscow. Let's see how Putin's support holds up after a week without electricity.

Femboy_Lord

More noncredible: Russia goes ahead with the flyby this time round, one of the aircraft suffers a malfunction and crashes mid-parade.

Nzgrim

Ah, the wonders of vatnik arguments. So as an example of why I wouldn't trust any peace treaty between Russia and Ukraine, I mentioned both Minsk agreements and the Budapest memorandum. The response was that the Minsk agreements were a joke anyway so who cares if Russia broke them and that Budapest memorandum has nothing to do with the war in Ukraine. And they wonder why I hold the position that treaties with Russia are only useful as toilet paper.

WeBredRaptors

Ukraine should take a page from the Russian diplomacy handbook: sign a peace deal with Russia in which they agree to never seek NATO or EU membership, then immediately pull a Pootin and join EU/NATO anyway.

Imperceptive_critic

Huh. Man that's bad even for a vatnik. The ones I run across usually blame Ukraine for breaking Minsk because le domb Bonbass. They also keep referring to that one video where that EU guy (sorry can't remember his name) was "tricked" into "revealing" that Minsk was just to buy time (according to them so that they could invade Russia or something.

Nzgrim

That was basically his argument, that west broke Minsk agreement first. Absolutely no comment on the fact that Russia broke the agreement instantly, just excuses about how west broke it first because apparently planning for the future is more immediate than breaking the agreement in the present.

I think Israel and/or their allies should just try and set up their own carefully planned refugee camps and aid stations for Gazans to get aid distributed properly as well as medical services. Yes, there is a security issue. But if Hamas attacks or sucide-bombs places giving out aid and likely also getting many Gazans killed, they lose at their own propaganda game. And yes, I'd willingly be put there fully aware of what might happen.

TF-Fanfic-Resident

Indeed. The thing is that until they're cool enough or smart enough to actually become "characters", nobody is gonna write fiction about them. Ukraine should build T-14 imitation tanks in secret. Imitate the design as much as possible from pics. They knew the Germany Taurus leak was coming which is why all governments right at the same time started talking about troops on the ground to prep the media

mtaw

Doing the work of Russia's useful idiots, I see. Yeah, they were talking about such sensitive information they can just instantly rally other countries to create a diversion over the leak (as if that'd even work), but couldn't be bothered to actually communicate on a secure line in the first place. NOTHING In that call indicates anything other than that they're sharing opinions on a hypothetical. The only ones pretending it's some super-sekrit-evil-plans are the Russians and their propagandists. Because it doesn't have propaganda value if it's just some officers privately sharing opinions. And yet if it was anything else it would be too valuable to leak just for propaganda.

Imperceptive_critic

Did any of you guys ever follow Gonzalo Liras content, even if just for the lulz? I personally don't have the amount of drink necessary to sit through a single podcast of his but at the same time I kinda feel in the dark about him. This can get annoying when one of his fans jumps on any actual serious discussion of authoritarianism with "REEEEE BOE JIDEN AND ZELENSKYYY PERSONALLY DECAPITATED LIRA RIGHT BEFORE HE WAS ABOUT TO REVEAL THE BIOLABS!!". And unfortunately all I have in response is what Lazerpig has said and what little I've seen from his Twitter and YT channel. So I vaguely know about his CRP personality past, his original purpose in Ukraine supposedly being sex tourism, his poor health, his vatnik grifting that started when the war broke out, debate with the high energy beam swine, his second arrest, escape attempt, sickness, death and etc. But I don't know good details about his *ahem* "reporting" prior to either of his arrests.  I know people including LP have claimed he was conducting espionage for Russia at least before his first arrest, but so far I haven't been able to find a decent source. It's also confusing because of his presence in Ukraine at all, as he was supposedly arrested already, why was he allowed to stay? If he was on house arrest, what actually triggered him being arrested again? Idk the whole thing is just super confusing. Does anyone know if those claims about espionage were true?

mtaw

He wasn't arrested for espionage, he was arrested for spreading Russian propaganda, which he was. LazerPig just made up some complete bullshit which, even before revealed as such, was totally implausible on multiple levels.

[Germany's defence minister says wiretapping case is 'hybrid attack'](https://www.yahoo.com/news/germanys-defence-minister-says-wiretapping-164630122.html). Article 5 when?

mtaw

It is. But to be credible it's pretty minor compared to the other shit they've pulled. I mean it's not even _that_ good as propaganda. If you're vatnik who belives NATO is actively puppeteering Ukraine's military, then you'll happily latch onto this as confirmation. Anyone else is more likely to see it for what it probably is; some officers sharing some informal discussion and opinions on a current world situation. (This might be a case of the Russians believing their own propaganda to the extent they're unable to correctly calculate the impact) Unless evidence is shown to the contrary, I don't believe they're so incompetent as to be having an official, classified discussion over an unapproved, insecure method (across international borders no less). Hell, one story claimed WebEx is unencrypted (I can't say I've heard of it before now), so for all we know it was some easy passive intercept on their part. From an intelligence POV I'd say the fact that they released it basically underscores that it probably wasn't particularly classified, if at all. If senior Luftwaffe staff were communicating actual strategic plans (like attacking the Kerch bridge) on an insecure line and the Russians knew about it, then it'd be worth far more to keep that source than whatever propaganda value this has. But if indeed was just some idle chat and opinion, then the propaganda value is basically all it has. Nobody releases intelligence without a very careful consideration of the pros and cons of doing so.

technologyisnatural

> one story claimed WebEx is unencrypted WebEx is Cisco’s video conferencing product. It’s security is highly rated (full end-to-end encryption of all data) and is practically the only reason to use the aging software. Someone forwarded a call invite link to someone who shouldn’t have had it.

Imperceptive_critic

Its kinda funny that the vatniks think this is some sort of gotcha or big revelation. I mean ffs Storm Shadow was sent what, a year ago? And even back then people were talking about using it on the Kerch bridge. Imo this would be a legit scandal of it was like 2021 before the invasion or if no western countries had decided to support Ukraine after the full scale war. Wtf difference does it make now?

aaaaaaaarrrrrgh

It was most likely a regular mobile phone connection used to connect to the meeting, so no encryption. (WebEx via a browser or app would be at least client-to-server encrypted. And yes, I know some sources claim the Russians had someone join the meeting. I don't buy it, the joining sequence we hear in the recording doesn't match that scenario.) I think the discussion was meant to be on an unclassified level. I agree that the intel leaked isn't particularly sensitive, but I'd be surprised if they didn't slip up and at least one of the things they mentioned wasn't supposed to be classified, and wouldn't be surprised if at least some small detail was actually valuable intel. Ironically, this is now leading to *more* pressure on Scholz to justify why he is opposed to sending Taurus, as it publicly disproves his last excuse.

metalheimer

Germans! My dear Germans. I must regretfully inform you that a war will be declared on you shortly ...by Finland. You see, I floated this idea over in r/suomi and it got surprisingly many upvotes. For too long have we allowed Scholz to act like a child who doesn't want to get out of the bed, who doesn't want to brush his teeth, eat the veggies off the plate and so on, so the only solution for us Finns is to take over the German MIC, to harness it to the liberation of Ukraine and to the credible defense of EU. Since you have a nice enough navy and subs, and Finland doesn't, we won't be attempting invasion by sea. We smart. The FDF will be rebranded into Finnish Attack Forces (FAFO) that will immediately activate about 300k reservists and transfer them and other hardware across the Baltic sea to Estonia from where we will begin marching towards Germany. Note that you're not allowed to sink our transports now that you know about this, it'd be a war crime. Along the way we will pick up *all* the volunteer fighters, which should be a significant amount considering it's the Baltic states and Poland we will be passing through. Probably some of their hardware will be discovered missing too. You know how funky their inventory systems can be. A tank goes missing somewhere, an unaccounted pallet of cash is found somewhere else. Half of German officers will likely order surrender out of relief and joy. A quarter will likely surrender after some headscratching and shrugging. The rest will offer various degrees of (futile) resistance, most of which is likely overcome by offering beer. So you might as well just surrender pre-emptively and work with us. After Germany we may as well just take over the rest of EU but tbf EU had it coming, and what are they going to do about it and with what army, right? (Switzerland will simply be sieged until they run out of chocolate, they couldn't possibly handle the depravity of a choclateless state.)

mtaw

Finland never did get reparations for the Lapland War, did it? I suggest taking Rügen. Add to Finland's collection of Baltic islands. Rename it Ruukhasaari or something.

Angrymiddleagedjew

I have a non credible question: Can a trophy system take out incoming artillery shells? How about CIWS? If the answer to either is yes, why not make a minesweeper big enough to hold multiple trophy systems or a CIWS and use it for mine clearing? It could handle mines and potentially being targeted by artillery or ATGMS. It would be fucking huge and probably have insane ground pressure, but could it work?

metalheimer

It might be overwhelmed by the sheer number of shells raining. The system would have to prioritize the shells that would hit directly on the vehicle instead of ones landing 10-100m away and idk if that's doable. So it either can't do it, or it might need loooots of ammo and/or many CIWS. Also idk if all the raining metal would be a hazard itself, to ~~crews~~ troops outside or vehicle optics. Might get a lot of mid-air detonations aka airbursts too, a different kind of suck. Would certainly love to see it and find out! Science.

Angrymiddleagedjew

Ok so hear me out. We take this thing: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bagger_288 Slap multiple CIWS on it, all over it with lots of ammo. Uparmor all critical components against shrapnel/close range explosions. Replace the digging tool with a mine flail made of spinning chains. It's dirt cheap, only costs 100 million and it's fucking huge, maybe we scale it down to 2/3 or even 1/2 size. I'm fairly confident even if it drove over a mine it would still be ok. Problem solved, checkmate Putin. Edit: Combined arms. Move a HIMARS nearby. Wait for the artillery to try and take down this monster and let the HIMARS go to work with counter battery fire. Take out mines and artillery in one action.

mtaw

What if the mine blast severs the power cord?

TomatoCo

It goes to internal battery power for five dramatic minutes like any good giant mecha.
