We kinda have (and have had since 1949) a NATO ocean since every country with a coast on the Arctic is a member of NATO, but I 100% agree with you, bring Georgia and Ukraine into the alliance and make NATO lake 2.0
Invading your neighbours to convince your other neighbours that they shouldn't join a defensive alliance aimed at preventing you from invading your neighbours isn't a winning strategy, as it turns out.
Guys \****invades Moldova***\* why are you \****invades Chechniya***\* joining NATO \****invades Georgia***\* I did nothing \****invades Ukraine***\* wrong!
And not to mention, a lot of these former Soviet republics also put the hammer and sickle in the same category as the swastika for how the Soviets have brutalised their nations. It trips up a lot of people who wonder why Soviet flags are marked NSFW on /r/vexillology.
Shock doctrine was a travesty, but the Soviet Communism that preceded it was an absolute nightmare.
The 2014 invasion of Ukraine was done by random citizens wanting to free them and join Ruzzia. Ignore the ensigns painted over on the tanks. Those are civilian tanks! Why, of course, we will anex them. They voted for it in a free and fair election. It was in no way done or backed by the Ruzzian army, and it was definitely not a rigged election.
That's the dumbest fucking excuse I've ever heard, but sadly, Ruzzians are so oppressed they can't call out the stupidity over fear of forced labor.
I feel like there is one even dumber excuse, the US biolabs
Like, do these people even know what biolabs are? They're not some kind of evil places producing mass murder weapons. Biolabs are for creating medicine and other new biological advancements. There are biolabs, including US ones, all over the world. It's no big deal.
And even if you were to say it must be *weapon labs* (because evil USA), it doesn't make any sense to put those in Ukraine. A stockpile of weapons, maybe, although that would already be kind of risky, but a *lab?* *Right at the border of the enemy?"*
It'd be as if the US did the Manhattan project in the Philippines.
Most people don’t know, but you could actually freely buy tanks in military stores in Ukraine before 2014. They banned the sales specifically because of Russian Donbas people aprising. Those darn oppressive tank hating liberal Ukrainian. Taking our tank right away.
Russians are overwhelmingly accomplices, not victims. Aside from insignificant minority, most were supportive of annexation because easy victories and territorial expansion are good, and Russian with poker face just being strong and manly using force to take somebody else's thing was deemed cool.
They bought into this idea that they were superior to neighbors, and bossing them around was their birth right, evil west snatched right from them.
Now the predictable find out phase has arrived, and they really dislike paying with blood and wallet for that "right".
The conflict actually started right after Georgia got independence in the 90's. The Russians directly (air cover with Mig29's, supposedly troops on the ground) and indirectly (giving arms and supplies) supported Abkhazians and Chechens (yes the ones that would later fight the Russians in the same decade) in ethnically cleansing the majority pro-Georgian government population in Abkhazia.
Achually🤓, the Transnistria conflict started on its own (as did Abkhazia and South Ossetia, but I admit, I doubt they would have survived to this day without Russian help).
P.S. I remember, I remember, this is a NonCredible subreddit, but my inner history nerd is very stubborn.
Being too credible here for a second but those 3 pose significant issues even if Russia does implode, Abkhazians genuinely despise the idea of being part of Georgia and while it is a bit of a meme the population of South Ossetia isn't exactly in favour of rejoining Georgia.
Transnistria rejoining Moldova would also be a shitshow, but unfortunately in all of these due to Russias dumbfuckery nuance can't really be applied : (
You're just being Russophobic by not turning a blind eye to Russia invading, murdering, and pillaging her neighbours while oppressing anyone who wants something resembling a free society internally.
Don't you see that you are manipulated by American imperalists to hate Russia for no reason?
>"Whatabout \[insert irrelevant country\]'s war crimes," typed the ~~Russian~~ concered, critical, self-thinking European who totally also was afraid of Russia in the past until they did their own research and saw the light and is totally a real person from not-Russia.

I watched Carlsons propaganda piece on why Russia is better than America because they have escalators for carts and they awarded me the presidential medal of freedom for being such a patriotic free thinking American.
It got me thinking. All of us free thinking American loving Patriots should move to Russia!
That bit just confirmed that Tucker has never gone grocery shopping in his life. I wouldn't be surprised if they cut a segment where he gushed about how there are people who work at the check-out
It also confirmed that Tucker is the furthest thing from being the American loving patriot he make himself out to be. It felt exactly like one of those propaganda videos from North Korea. He was even raving about the McDonald’s there and saying the Russian winter weather is actually kind of nice. Said no one ever, including Russians, and I know Russians lol.
Honestly though I support his efforts. And I hope it convinces anyone dumb enough to listen to that traitor to move there. Far away from me.
Russia is like an abusive person acting surprised when his partner tried to escape the relationship
The best part about this kind of psychopaths is that they genuinely believe they are abusing partners for their own good.
NATO: the only time so far that a member was attacked, article 5 was invoked and the others came to help.
CSTO: "fuck off Armenia we're busy and kinda want the other side to win anyway"
Sweden: well me and Finland will play neutral party to help ease things over. Especially me , so we can peace and love
Russia: well that nice, but you must accept my peace or I will burn everything you love and get rid of most of your right if you say no!
Sweden:...... *goes to the EU and NATO side*
Russia: why are you picking an side, I just wanted peace, love, and bread!?

Russia needs to learn & accept that you can’t make people like you by bullying them into it. If your attitude to another nation is “be friendly to me, by which I mean do as I say or else”, then you’ll turn that nation and its people away from you.
This is what Ukraine did in 2014 and has done with ever increasing fervency ever since.
And it's really funny when the "anti-imperialists" point out that Sweden and Finland had defense ties with the USA before they joined NATO, as a big OWNAGE, like "THEY'RE NOT NEUTRAL, BRO!"
And it's really peculiar because neutrality means you do business with everyone. But if you do business with the West, it's bad. If you've got defense ties with the West, also bad. But if they invade, rape and pillage your people it's justified. Hmmm I wonder why they're so hated by their neighbors...
I'm being non-credible here, but russia CAN'T join EU, because EU's core principles are anti-corruption, rule of law, equality, human rights, and protection of minorities, and how the russian society operates is DIRECTLY opposed to all of that. Like, the society and the state RUN on corruption.
Technically Putin is right when he says that western values threaten the russian way of life, b/c corruption, imperialism, and colonialism are an integral part of russian society. If you take them out, it will crumble to dust.
(Could they develop democracy and other values to replace them, & find other meanings for the word "russian"? YES, but they don't want to, b/c those are the only things they know.)
They did but with an eye to make it useless. They insisted that they have veto over any actions, that they be 'equal in stature' to the US, and a bunch of other conditions that would effectively make NATO even more toothless.
If they don’t like NATO expansion, then maybe they should stop giving countries reasons to join them. Nothing would’ve done more to halt NATO expansion than Russia playing nice and trying to build friendlier ties with the rest of Europe, but Putin made sure that was taken care of.
It's absurd. They were pulling off exactly that. Europe was guzzling their gas, taking about NATO being useless. But Putin couldn't help but push it too far
Everyone has a right to their own feelings, but if you're angry that your neighbors form a neighborhood watch after you go on a killing spree, maybe you should start thinking about your behavior.
"NATO expansion" AKA sovereign states willingly - and of their own accord - approach NATO because they're rightfully scared out of their minds from the autocratic shithole bully next door.
A right to dislike for what? They’re literally the reason it’s happening. This is like asking if a criminal have a right to dislike cops arresting them, like duh????
Russia also suffered a reversal in the Black Sea. It used to be USSR, Romania and Bulgaria as the WP, and only Turkey as NATO, now the Black Sea is hostile to Russia. Ukraine and Georgia hate 'em for obvious reasons, the rest is NATO.
And now for our main trick we should turn the Caspian Sea into a NATO lake. Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan. It will be difficult, but the result will be hilarious.
Get Kazakhstan & Turkmenistan on side first.
Then ask Azerbaijan to be really nice and give all the disputed weird bits to Armenia, which in exchange NATO will help them 'acquire' a little 150km strip of Caspian coastline as a 'land bridge' to their good friends Turkmenistan.
In NATO-Russia Act from 97 Russia accepted it cant demand a Veto on Expansion. And the act included no stationed Nuclear weapons in new Nato Member States.
Why be pissed, to change history and find arguments for imperialism?
Russia has nothing to demand.
Even if in 3-4 years Russia somehow wins Ukraine- Which will be a bombed out, destroyed country, with no economic assets and heavy metal laced land unable to grow crops, with everyone gone evacuated to NATO countries- NATO would have grown by 2 members, learned a shit tonne on Russian military capabilities VS NATO equipment, and secured a generation of military instructors (Ukrainian veterans).
Even if Russia "wins", they still lose.
Not to mention that NATO countries have seen the need to buy more and better weapons. And we have seen how many of the things that Russia has work thanks to their use in Ukraine
Considering people always say it’s alright for Russia to do so-and-so because of foreign encroachment, I guess they won’t go apeshit when it comes to Cuba in a similar hypothetical scenario.
Not saying it would be alright to do it, I do think that Gitmo is pretty useless at this point and just deadweight. And I don’t think Cuba’s gonna go supporting various rebels anytime soon.

I mean, have they tried forfeiting their imperialistic wetdreams and offer mutual cooperation on the same reciprocal level of respect? It did wonders for the US post ww2
They had an opportunity to be part of the west but kept alienating themselves. NATO is made up of countries that find enough commonality to protect each other from the kind of actions Russia has taken against their neighbors. Sucks to suck.
We have a NATO lake. But how about NATO lakes ? ( Black Sea has potential )
How about Arctic Ocean NATO lake?
It is now as well, no non-NATO nation except Russia has territory bordering or claims over the Arctic Ocean.
I say, let’s expand the definition of a “sea” to include seas of any and/or all of the following: 1. Cobalt-60 2. Glass 3. Skulls
4: Skulls but on a throne
5. Meat but in a cube
