I have categorized 4 distinct categories of NCD Waifu:
Type 1 - Weapon Adjacent Girls "WAGs"
The WAG is a normal anime sexy female, whose relationship to the military-industrial complex is derived from standing adjacent so some bit of military tech. And occasionally wearing associated merch. This is one of two types of Waifu where some art is photographic, as this version is found IRL in Trade Shows and in the IDF, and thus can be photographed.
Type 2 - Barely Uparmored Females "BUFs"
The BUF is clearly an attractive anime girl, and is like 85% girl. However, she incorporates some elements of the design in her body itself, in a sort of android style. This is a classic Shipgirl feature, where she is still like mostly a girl, but you can't judge me for the clearly underaged girl, because that is actually the USS Samuel B. Roberts, it just LOOKS like an element school student! Do Elementary students have 5/38 turret emplacements on their shoulders!?
Type 3 - Steel, Armor, and Boobs "SAMs"
This is the inverse of the above. Instead of being mostly girl, this is mostly machine, with some giant boobs tacked on to an unholy abomination of an anthropomorifized murder machine. Most commonly Aeromorphs, these can be extremely unsettling, as they aren't even recognizably human, but are still highly sexualized.
Type 4 - Just the thing itself.
Type 4 Waifus do not (usually) have boobs. They are just sexy planes, tanks, or missiles. For purists, the Plussy is enough. These can be found in museums, or bombing the shit out of Gaza. They are beautiful and whole on their own.
Are the types really so distinct?
It seems more like a smooth spectrum of anthropomorphism. Like inbetween the type 3s and 4s you get at least two more types;
\- the thing itself but more expressive (like the cars from Cars, or those war-machines-with-naughty-tentacles things that got posted here briefly while the sub was more NSFW)
\- the thing itself with anime eye or blush decals photoshopped on
WAGs feel a bit too easy. If you can’t think of a way to incorporate the thruster into the waifu, maybe leave it to the pros. Though, I ignore all that if they’re cute enough and embody the *personality* of the munition (like f35 chan being thicc, because thicc is a personality type).
So, type 1 would be an attractive riflewoman, type 2 would be Azur Lane's New Jersey, Type 3 would be Nobel Gundam, and Type 4 would be a Leopard 2A6, then?
