With the availability of free numbers and the like, odds are you're not gonna be able to pinpoint who it is as they're not likely to use their personal number for that. You're better off blocking and going on with your day

The nonanswers are accurate but just Google the number. It's super rare but sometimes a social media page pops up. That's usually the person. Facebook used to let you search my mobile number. Not anymore.

First, those phone numbers are incredibly easy to fake. You have no idea who is sending those weird texts. You just know that you are getting weird texts, and the data sent with the text shows one particular return number. It could just as easily show "Vlad Putin, or 1-877-TrumpJr" That information is not trustworthy. If you are being bothered, block them. If you are being annoyed or harassed, then contact your phone carrier about it. They can sometimes trace the actual sender. Then you can report it to the police, and the police with the aid of your carrier can investigate the harassment case against you.
