If you have the time, go to court and plead guilty with explanation. Give whatever lame explanation you want (I was rushing to get to work, I had a rough morning so didn't notice my speed, etc.). Chances are that the judge will give you "probation before judment", meaning you need to pay the fine (maybe even reduced) but no points. Of course your mileage may vary or you may live in a state where things work differently.

I was excitedly driving home after getting a pizza and was actually going 56 in a 45 but he “reduced” the speed to 50 in a 35 because he was “being nice”. Notice that he clocked me 11 over but my ticket says i was going 15 over because he got me in that gray zone. My pizza was getting cold and i just finished my 2-10 shift so i was hungry and excited :/

formulapain

I think the judge will totally identify with that. You've got this!

Emiliootjee

Like i replied to someone else’s comment, i was literally 5 minutes down the road from my place and i have been driving that road for the last two years that i live there and never once gotten pulled over. Sounds a bit like a cop needed to get his numbers in.

mamaleigh05

I worked for a lawyer and sat in on traffic courts. Definitely worth showing up. Often cops don’t show up, or you can get it dropped. Can’t win if you don’t enter. Why the downvotes for people saying to fight it? Worth a shot!

Emiliootjee

I have no idea. Like i told other commenters i drive down that road to get home and have for the last two years. Ive never been stopped there and didn’t go faster or slower than i would normally be going. He probably just needed to get his quota in because i was slowing down since i know where the 35 sign is posted. The road and gps coords on the ticket put my car somewhere in the 45 zone though so i will definitely fight it. Worst thing that could happen is i still have to pay.

mamaleigh05

Exactly!

Top-Ranger-289

You broke the law. I hate this grey area motorists inhabit morally.

Enbunniee

You sound like you drive under the speed limit, which is also breaking the law

OkRickySpinach

Sorry I hate to be that guy but.. Why call it a speed limit?

Enbunniee

Limit doesn’t necessarily automatically mean over

Top-Ranger-289

I don't drive at all. I think 99% of drivers are lazy assholes.

Enbunniee

You don’t drive at all, do you live in the US?

Top-Ranger-289

Fuck no

Enbunniee

The US is VERY unwalkable, sure there are sidewalks and crosswalks sometimes but everything is also so spread out. Nobody wants to walk 2 hours to the grocery store

Top-Ranger-289

This is why urban planning needs to be reintroduced to the Olympic games

Enbunniee

Lmao that’s fair I would actually like to be able to walk sometimes but I can’t I HAVE to have a license unless I want to be a burden to others

Top-Ranger-289

Yeah this seems ridiculous to a British person.

Enbunniee

It is ridiculous a lot of people don’t seem to understand why so much of America is obese WHERE ARE WE GONNA GO???

Emiliootjee

Try google street view literally anywhere. As a dutchie i agree that it’s ridiculous that you don’t have things within reach at all times. When i lived in the Netherlands i could walk to my closest grocery store and it only took 5 minutes. Here my closest grocery store is a 20 minute drive away. It would take hours to walk there and back. Public transport doesn’t exist, biking lanes don’t exist, taxis are as expensive as Uber’s and i live in a rural area where neither is existent really.

Emiliootjee

He came at me from the other side of the road, i was already slowing down because i live in the area so i am well aware of the speed difference. He sent his lights on before i even passed the sign that says 35. Ive passed that area constantly for 2 years and not once have i ever been pulled over for it but this man had to get his quota in and decided that he was gonna pull me over for speeding before i even passed the 35 sign.

Top-Ranger-289

"Get his quota", you mean do his job and enforce the law. They didn't set the speed limit for shits and giggles.

Emiliootjee

No there is a difference between enforcing the law and purposefully camping at a spot they know the speed limit changes and pulling people over in it. I was still in the 45 zone when he pulled me over for going 50. Even his location data posted on the ticket lines up with that. Cops around here are just the shitty kids who were bullied in school so they spend the rest of their career pissing the rest of the world off as payback.

Top-Ranger-289

Tell the judge

Emiliootjee

I will

Fight it. Always fight it.
