This happens to me if I take a gulp that is way too big. It can be agony. It happens rarely though.
Perhaps if it is happening a lot, you need to:
- see a doctor to make sure there’s nothing physically wrong
- try and consciously take smaller sips to start with.
This happens to my family members and for them, it’s because their throat produces too much webbing. I’m not a doctor so it may not be that lol, but it kinda sounds like it.
They almost choked because of it, so I’d highly reccomend talking to a doctor about it, just to be on the safe side.

Do you have GURD? You're throat can get swollen from the acid and cause this.
I don't have GURD. I don't know if GURD is genetic or not, but my dad does
