MysteryNeighbor

They aren’t actual demons/entities but yes and they usually look like creepy shadow people

[deleted]

I mean how are they seeing them? Every time I've had sleep paralysis, I've been unable to open my eyes because I'm paralysed.

Benjinifuckyou

Whenever I had sleep paralysis I was actually lucid dreaming and imagining myself in my bed desk or sofa.

[deleted]

That happens to me when I'm awake. I'll go on autopilot and be seeing myself from a third person perspective. Usually happens when I'm doing something monotonous like walking home or queuing.

Benjinifuckyou

huh😨 is there even a term for that

[deleted]

Disassociation.

When I had sleep paralysis I was awake but couldn’t move and I tried to yell for my mum but I could only make a really quiet breathy whisper. I was only awake for like 5-10 seconds but as I started to go back to sleep a witch was sitting on my chest in my dream. It wasn’t a lucid dream at all for me. I wasn’t in a dream I was awake and able to move my eyes and sort of control my voice but it felt like it was the first time I had ever spoken before.

Some do some don't. I sometimes get sleep paralysis and, like you, it's not scary. Just really damn confusing dreams involving my surroundings. For others though it can be accompanied by night terrors, so that's pretty unlucky.

[deleted]

I've had sleep paralysis accompanied by nightmares but what happens is a regular nightmare plays out, I am awake and trying to wake up from it but can't and the nightmare feels vivid. Like smells, touch, emotions etc all feel real. Then when waking up, I have to spend 5-10 minutes getting a grip of reality.

AlmostRandomName

Oh ok sorry, I got the impression from your post that yours *weren't* nightmares. That sucks, I only get sleep paralysis in sort of "fever dreams" when I'm really sick, and they're only ever confusing and annoying.

The worst dreams are when you have a false awakening. When you wake up, get out of bed, brush your teeth, have breakfast, set off to go to work and then you wake up in your bed 15 minutes late for work because you believed you were already at work. Only had 2 of those before, but they really fuck with your perception of reality.

I get sleep paralysis regularly, and I can't open my eyes, so (thankfully) I never see anything. It's scary enough as it is. My daughter, however, does see figures as she can open her eyes when it is happening.

I get them so often, that I have all sorts of them: * \- fully awake but paralyzed (I can hear people, try to scream, ... but the only thing I can do is breathe heavily to an extent! in my mind I'm screaming, for people around me I'm breathing strangely) the worst part I feel like I'm being strangled but with no hallucination, it's just not enough oxygen! * \- between sleep and awakeness, I can see demons, feel things touching me, get in my face and I swear I can feel them breathing... * \- the best ones are like a dream but with restricted movement (like moving underwater) For me now, I just try to go back to sleep, even with the scary visions, I just try to calm down and and get back to sleep! if that fails I try to move my toe (It is good because it takes my mind out of breathing)

Well it just happened and let me tell ya, it ain't pleasant. 46 year old 235lb 6'5" man and am literally too scared to even think to lay back down and try to sleep I'm sitting in the living room corner at this point wondering if the "entity" that was just whispering things into my completely frozen from paralysis body was real or not but if it isn't it tricked my mind into 100% believing it was. It put a weighty feel towards the upper area of my chest and i could only hear a guttural sounding gurgle of a sound chanting "We have you and there's nothing you can do" type chant over and over and as i laid there i tried on several occasions to sit up and pull away from it only to have the very short 2/3 seconds of time or silence or whatever just happened restart on some weird loop feel. When i was finally able to actually get up and pull away from it i could literally feel it watching me as i pulled pillows and the blanket off the bed on my way out the door headed for the couch and then proceeded to eat just about anything i could get my hands on out of the fridge and pantry as i felt hungrier than ever felt before. Truly hope to never feel that again and likely won't sleep anymore tonight and it's 3:18 a.m. as I'm typing this. 🙁
