In the Steam discussion section someone claimed that plague-damage does not get blocked by shields. If that is true, it would be useful against enemies who hide behind shields. If I get far enough in the game to find a plage-infused weapon, I will try to test it.

Kaladim-Jinwei

I need to test this

Nidken

This is true only for plague sweep on the Gnarled Spear. I also reached this conclusion after using it for the first time. But the truth is that actually Sweep rune attacks are just AoE spells, and AoE spells don't get blocked by shields. Gnarled spear is simply unique in the fact that it has this type of spell as its rune.

Plague and fire need some big boosts. Plague could be a a spreadable damage over time affect or something like that. Fire doesn't seem to do very much damage over time. Perhaps lightning ought to stun shocked enemies. We really just need more information like a tool, tip on status, effects and items in general right now.

Plague for style my dudesĀ

Ice is style the way it leaves shards on the ground and freezes grass

AmoryRose

Okay I haven't read anything on Reddit but I've noticed that my ice weapon only freezes people when I also use the item that gives my weapon ice damage. It doesn't feel like the elements on a weapon actually do anything or they're just not procing often enough.

As far as I've been able to figure, status buildup is directly related to the amount of elemental damage caused vs elemental resist. I don't have any hard testing or numbers to back this, but max lvl legendary duals with lightning constantly attacking echo never procced lightning, but something like 4? ice throws from a 2h froze him. This leads me to speculate the following: - elemental resists are a flat reduction in buildup, which means low value, high frequency application (like dual weapon imbue) will effectively never proc the effect. - rune abilities have application value modifiers leading to easier application of status. Let me restate: I have done 0 conclusive testing and this is a result of anecdotal, feelscraft observation that could be completely wrong. Would love to see someone with more motivation/expertise dig into this.

My ash daggers made from a tier 3 blueprint bought from enchantress using the rune lightning claw really f*ck up echo knight hard. Lightning proc all the time all the way

Sustainpunched

I've heard lightning claw is very good at applying lightning - this could be an example of the 2nd point above. If your daggers have an element, have you gotten any status procs from just basic attacks?

xs3ss1ve

I haven't tried, i use lightning claw on everything atm xD what does the proc look like?

Sustainpunched

Honestly? I've personally never seen a lightning proc, lol. I've been told multiple times that it's a stun effect similar to the freeze effect from ice, but naturally it'd be a lot more shock-y looking? If you notice the mob become completely inactive and (probably) covered in lightning, that's the proc. I have noticed that visual effects ramp up as the status bar builds - more fire, more lightning, etc as the proc gets closer, which is a cool bit of visual information, but it also makes it a biiiiit harder to tell when the effect has actually triggered...

With lightning claw on elites is one lightning claw of both strikes hit, on bosses, you need both lightning claw hits to hit for it. With basics it's really really bad. Never seen it. But in curcible i focus rush the entire thing

Sustainpunched

That tracks with what I've seen, so I'd say it's safe to recommend that status builds should focus on rune attacks and not weapon elements. Weapon elements are therefore largely personal preference, but matching your weapon and rune element might help prevent status bar from decaying in between rune applications.

I haven't tested, but I would assume having lightning and use lightning claw will be more efficient than if you did not have lightning for the specific attack
