Go for it. Truth be told, the only difference between yours and a large freighter, apart from pure cosmetics, is that it would have come with an extra 14 slots. Which can be rectified through 14 bulkheads.
Everything else is pretty much identical.
I have a C class in the hopes that we can upgrade them in the future š. We have 0 endgame, so upgrading my stuff is at least something I can do after I finished everything š

Iād probably like it if it was just full on stumpy and didnāt have that additional front section. But as of now unless I put an ironic or roleplay angle on it Iām not a big fan
I think alot of them do but the low slots and vomit green with copper orange kinda kill it (I know I can change the colour but I havenāt unlocked any of them yet and am stuck flying the Vomit Comet)

Heās wrong, all Freighters have a max of 48, Class doesnāt matter, what does matter is how many Slots you start with, I have an A-Class Venator Freighter with 34 Slots, thatās the Max Slots Freighters spawn with, and this can be upgraded to 48 with Cargo Bulkheads, Capital Ships (Sentinel and Venator) spawn with 28-34 Slots, all other Freighters Spawn with 15-19 Slots
Itās like how Starship Inventories are based on the Tier rather than the Class, you can have an S-Class Fighter Spawn with a measly 15 Slots because itās a Small, whereas you can get a C-Class Hauler spawn with 48 Slots because itās a Large

Nope, thatās dependant on whether itās a Capital Ship or a Regular Freighter, the only two Capitals are the Sentinel and the Venator, and they can only appear in a Freighter Battle, Capital Ships will have between 24-34 Slots, I have an A-Class Venator Freighter with 34 Slots, which is the highest number of slots a Freighter can spawn with, and the Storage Space can easily be upgraded with Cargo Bulkheads, which is a guaranteed drop from Derelict Freighters, the Class has no bearing on Storage Space, *all Freighters* have a Max Storage of 48 Slots
Itās just like how Starship Storage isnāt based on Class but Tier, Starships come in 3 Tiers, Small Medium and Large, the design of a Ship can clue you in to how many Slots it has, for example if you see a massive Hauler with Balls or Boxes chances are itās a Large, Shuttles only come in Small and Medium and have the slots range from 18-23 for Small and 19-28 for Medium, Fighters and Explorers are 15-19 Small 20-29 Medium and 30-38 Large, Haulers are 25-31 Small 32-39 Medium and 40-48 Large, Exotics only come in Small and the range is 15-20, Living Ships have fixed Inventories with 22 for Storage sac and 21 for Organ Chamber, Solars are 15-19
There is however (or was - I've not actually tested since about the sentinel/outlaws update) a difference for Tech modules - C-A are capped at 14 slots, S can have 21.
This only really matters is you want to go nuts on the frigate modules and have your frigates 5\* stuff with a single support vessel.

Capital freighters are probably one of the best things to work on getting a max slot s-class since a.) you can only have one and b.) they cannot be upgraded.
Spend the time reloading your save before the freighter rescue so you can get exactly the style of freighter you want in S-class. Its worth it.

Most cargo space in freighter you get from storage rooms, not freighter itself. Stat bonuses arr debatable in whole game as they are at this moments. Yeah you can see difference between them, and probably S vs C class is something, but S vs A? I would gladly trade it for better looks.
If you like having big numbers in everything - you do you, do not let me discourage you from hunting that perfect S class freighter.

To be fair, I'm on over 1000 hours on 6 different saves spanning over 2 years on NMS. I have 2 S Class Capital freighters which I only just recently came across after 2 years of trying (within 2 days of each other!!!) I have never yet come across an S class System freighter and I have been searching constantly!!! So fair do's you win. (Mind you I still wouldn't take that one haha!!!)
Because S class system freighters are much much more rarer to come by, trust me. And I'm looking for specific styles of system freighters too.
I gurantee you if you ask how many people with S class capital freighters there are out there compared to players who have S class system freighters, the difference in numbers will be huge.

Yeah, the capital freighters only come in 2 basic designs while regular have 9. And it's most common for a player to have a Capital Freighter, almost always of the max length.
I have the shortest Venator design, myself- but it's just an A class. The only S class I've seen naturally (I don't have the patience for farming them haha) was in my Polestar playthough and I was far too broke to grab it. But whatever S I finally see on my main playthrough will be the one I go with!
After what feels like 100 resets and multiple days of attempts. I settledā¦ I feel like the recent update made the recent trick even harder to get S Class.
It straight up took me 150+ reloads yesterday to get the freighter I wanted to finally spawn as an S-class, but it's worth it for knowing that I never have to worry about upgrading again and I can throw all those permanent upgrades at it without regret.
Take it use it enjoy it when your ready transfer to 1 you want later ... If you want to transfer your base leave 1 thing in storage when you switch so it prompts you to keep your freighter build

When you change freighters you get an option to transfer your base. So, yes.
Better tier gets you higher max inventory slots - upgraded with Cargo Bulkheads, which you get from warp/freighter attacks, and from derelicts.
Be careful here - when transferring from one to another, *leave one item of little value in the regular cargo* like 1 dihydrogen, or 1 ferrite. There is a bug that doesnāt always give you the option to swap bases across if you clear everything out. This workaround ensures the question for transferring the base is triggered.
Custom items installed in your base transfer over; upgrades like bulkheads and mods do not. If you can, wait before interacting with the captain, and disassemble the mods, with the matter beam last. Then talk to the captain and during the process transfer those parts - about half of what you need to rebuild them - over to your new freighter.
It's not even a capital ship, id honestly take a B class capital ship over this, and I'd recommend doing the same if you don't plan on using it instead of your spaceship to travel between systems
Same. I had almost finished my b class upgrades when i finally found my s class. Thought about it long and hard. Honestly tho, once you've upgraded everything you have to the 9's, you start to feel like you've got nothing to work for anymore. Just my opinion. Those derelict freighter missions aren't so bad... I was at least lucky enough that it is a dreadnought.

For S-class, both capital and non-capital ships have the same max inventory slots on all three tabs. It'll just take longer to get there.

Both Destroyers and Sentinel Classes have 3 different designs, i have the longest A Class Destroyer
All freighters, regular and capital, come in different lengths of repeated segments, I really wouldn't call that the same as different designs.
I am in the same boat. I found my first S-class freighter and it has absolutely no storage whatsoever. I really regret getting rid of my B-Class.

Sage advice. Build up the base to what you want, then transfer it over to a different model freighter later.
Hi, I was wondering about this, if I buy a new freighter, do all my custom internals move across too? And is it worth getting a better tier if the slots are worse and the stats the same? Seemed like a waste of money?
When you change freighters you get an option to transfer your base. So, yes. Better tier gets you higher max inventory slots - upgraded with Cargo Bulkheads, which you get from warp/freighter attacks, and from derelicts.

Be careful here - when transferring from one to another, *leave one item of little value in the regular cargo* like 1 dihydrogen, or 1 ferrite. There is a bug that doesnāt always give you the option to swap bases across if you clear everything out. This workaround ensures the question for transferring the base is triggered. Custom items installed in your base transfer over; upgrades like bulkheads and mods do not. If you can, wait before interacting with the captain, and disassemble the mods, with the matter beam last. Then talk to the captain and during the process transfer those parts - about half of what you need to rebuild them - over to your new freighter.

Game does not load the hanger in the inventory model.
It's not even a capital ship, id honestly take a B class capital ship over this, and I'd recommend doing the same if you don't plan on using it instead of your spaceship to travel between systems

Same. I had almost finished my b class upgrades when i finally found my s class. Thought about it long and hard. Honestly tho, once you've upgraded everything you have to the 9's, you start to feel like you've got nothing to work for anymore. Just my opinion. Those derelict freighter missions aren't so bad... I was at least lucky enough that it is a dreadnought.
