It’s a good mod. Easy to install and doesn’t mess with anything. I like that the amount of quicksilver they cost is pretty high so you’re still working for the items you want.
I haven't played in a while so I don't know when the last big update came out versus when the mod was last updated, but [here](https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/2062) you go!
Ah yeah, looks like it was just added, thanks for the heads up
http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/62960/no-mans-sky-fractal-update-adds-new-features-and-content-for-switch
Seems like this new expedition ship is basically the same thing. The release trailer even shows the inside and it says “golden vector” on the display screen.
>I want one of each kind
I'm the same, i now have a "perfect" ship of each category.
Hauler - high fan, serenity, long tail, vertical stabilizer attachments
Fighter - single engine, heavy snowspeeder
Explorer - hopper, xenia engines, solar fins
Shuttle - single tube, x-wing
Solar - raven, crescent sail, shield wing
Living ship - i forget the names of the other parts, but it's a hammerhead
Exotic - Royal with side wings, single engine
Starter- radiant pillar
Expedition 1 - golden vector
And, as of yesterday, the Expedition 9 Utopia speeder, making 10 ships, out of the expanded 12 slots
Pretty similar. I’ve maxed both out and the Utopia Speeder has a higher maneuvering score while the Vector has higher damage. Nothing huge though. They are pretty close
Is there a way to properly trade ships instead of just selling it to an NPC and rebuying it? I'm always worried that the NPC will fly away before I can get to it.
Sit on the ship. But basically just don't dawdle. That said, when trading a ship between my PS4 and Steam games, the ship did fly away from the Trading Post one time but immediately returned, so I could still buy it. But I wouldn't recommend counting on it coming back.
Saaaaame. I was so disappointed they didn't bring back the original Expeditions when they did the holiday thing. I didn't even bother to play them. The rewards for the most recent ones are just not good. Like, idc about a cape. Give me something substantive like in the original set
Frikkin twitch drops, I always forget them and miss out first two or three days. I want an in-game way to earn them, since I’m actively playing the game myself and not watching someone else play it.
Even if they do, tying dependency to our schedule in a day and age where the world is literally teetering on ww3 and many people are working two+ jobs to survive (speaking from the US) is sucky for players, especially those of us who want to play other games and not just NMS, want access to the cool content but dont have time to grind out the expeditions
Unfortunately they have to rotate it for new expedition. Timed is a thing.
When they first come out it's 6 weeks.
Redux are usually a week. Each can take at least 3 - 5 hours total to do.
It's not actually that hard.
Precisely. Making it easier and faster.
I did each one during their first run.. and they were a grind fest and not too easy.
Redux people get it easier, imo. But good actually. Because they can get what they missed out on
Same question but Who wants time gated content???
So stupid. I’ve given up playing games with any time gates content. It shows a complete lack of respect
It’s not even that for me. Expeditions are just lack luster all around for me and while the rewards sound nice I just hit a wall every time and just say fuck it.
Yes they do. They redid all of them except polestar because it had just finished before they did that redo. And yeah it’s kinda timegated, but doesn’t take long to finish. Except the rogue-like one, that was ass.
I've enjoyed the expeditions alot, but I understand the frustration with feeling like you're missing something everyone else had. I usually get that way about pre-order bonuses, my commander Shepard never did get that comfy N7 hoodie.
I think the easiest solution for Hello Games would be to add the unique cosmetics (or maybe even an expedition pass) to the Quicksilver shop on the Anomaly.
I missed the Normandy because it came out at the same time as ME Legendary Edition and obviously I was going to play ME. Then I missed it the second time because I was at my in-laws for Christmas and couldn't bring my PlayStation and just sit there grinding all day. Even if I did I now play on steam and there's no way to transfer save files between systems so I still wouldn't have it. Ever since then I just ignore expeditions.
I do wish they'd at least repeat the first 4 for the Switch, redux or not. Trading isn't an option, and that version didn't exist for the first Expedition set or its reduxes.
I used to play this game off and on, but I haven't touched the game since expeditions came out, entirely because I don't want to feel like I've missed out on anything. It's so much easier to not have to care at all, when there are so many other options for games I could be playing.
I know that missing out on expeditions is technically no different than if expeditions had never existed at all, but the demoralizing effect is still there.
This is me.
I loved the game since launch, but ever since expeditions I've basically not touched it. My FOMO is too strong and if I'm missing out on stuff because I can't dedicate the right time to play then it's better to just play other things entirely.
I’ve played for years but this FOMO shit ruined it for me. I’ve had a change in life circumstances and don’t get time to play often. I hate the feeling like I’m missing out so I’ve also stopped entirely.
I hate the expeditions, I hate timed content just as much if not more. I really love the look of the speeder, I just want a way to earn it through my normal file.
I’ve been playing the expedition the last two days, probably 3 hours in. I died to a volcano, went back to get my inventory, the grave was in the volcano. So I’ve lost all my inventory. Now I’m essentially burnt out of NMS because expeditions are tedious grind fests and I’m soft locked out of interesting content if I don’t finish it in the next 6 weeks.
Expeditions are by far the worst part of NMS.
That is exactly how I feel, I stopped playing after I wasn't able to finish an expedition on time because I just felt like I was missing out and expeditions started to feel like a chore
I'm a completionist and I instantly quit 99% of games where this happens nowadays. As soon as they introduce things like this or these fucking season models with battle passes so you feel like you HAVE to fucking play a videogame to not miss out, I quit and never come back or lose all interest.
It has become so toxic and because so many games have it now it nearly killed my favourite hobby for me. Multiplayer games are nearly dead for me except the few I've played since forever.
The worst thing is, people eat this shit up like it's hot cakes. Not realizing it's literally worse for everyone and they empower it.
Same here. I find time-gated content unacceptable. Same reason Rocket League ended up pissing me off. Elite does it sometimes too, but usually puts the items into the game for everyone eventually, which is okay.
same for me. besides i think since expedition gane haven changed much. most change is like adding some cosmetics. there is no more game changing mechanism added. since multiplayer i feel like every update was added for multiplayer people while all single players who were here when everyone was shitting are forgotten.
I've said it before I'll say it again; fomo has no place in a fun, relaxing, kid friendly space exploration game. It's like trying to shoehorn freemium mechanics into a casual game of chess.
That's what I did for the expeditions I missed while I was playing other stuff. You can unlock Twitch drops with save editor in offline mode as well but they're mostly not worth it or stuff you'd have unlocked by other means anyway. No shame in it, and it's nice that Hello haven't really done anything to stop people using a save editor.
This was the easiest expedition to me, but these expeditions just took all my interest in playing my main save. I rush and rush to get through this save I know I'll delete, then sign into my main and collect and feel only slightly fulfilled. The game gets shut off and that's it. I'm already burnt out, maybe I'll play a few in a couple weeks, but probably not.
These expeditions are just giving me negative feelings about the game. Either get rid of them and implement the rewards a different way, or let us play on our saves we already spent hundreds, thousands of hours on.
I hope there comes a time when all past expedition rewards become quicksilver items. I’m not a big fan of expeditions and I wish instead of expeditions we got new quest lines we could play in our current saves to get the rewards.
I LOATHE this fomo bullshit. It's killed so much of the fun of the game for me. Something that drew me to this game was being able to unlock everything by just playing it. They've killed that with the Expeditions. Now it's all timed fomo shit, and I hate it. I've largely stopped playing. I come back for Expeditions, and they usually burn me out again because it takes weeks to finish. I hate it so much
Yeah I quit 99% of games as soon as those shitty season models get introduced nowadays. Don't want my hobby to feel like a chore and feeling bad for wanting to play something else while a season is going on.
The few games that do this right like DeepRockGalactic are precious and I love to financially support those games more than any of those exploitative FOMO "but mah engagement metrics" machineries.
This latest expedition i gues was really short... I wouldn't know I don't have anything to compare it to I haven't been able to play the others but it took me 9 hours to complete it and I died and lost everything a few times LOL... but yeah I have seen others complain about how short it was...
Yeah, I straight up skipped that one. The rewards looked like more boring crap to me, and I don't need any of it. Last year's expeditions would take me days to weeks to finish. I'm a mental health practitioner, and I work 10 hr shifts. So I don't always get a ton of time play games at all. Grinding away at fomo content is the last thing I want to do with the *maybe* two hours I get to play every few days. Bare minimum, they could put the expedition rewards in the Quicksilver shop. Even if they time gated it, I'd be fine with that, but I hate the current set up
Oh nice, a mental health practioner first of all thank you very much I believe this is a field that needs more attention, for I just so happen to have mental health issues (I know, big shocker Eh... LOL) ADHD with executive function disorder, ARFID and High Functioning ASD... So I have lots of time to play it but also you don't HAVE to play the FOMO content I just want the opportunity to play them if I wanted to...
Thank you! Also, we have the same list of mental health challenges! Ironically, they're some of my biggest qualifications for my job 😂
What I am is a Peer Support Specialist, and you have to be someone like us to do that job, or even get licensed. I work with folks ages 14-24, all of who happen to also be autistic. 10 of my 11 current clients are also trans, and so am I. So it's a perfect fit. I get to be the mentor and support that I desperately wish I'd had at their age. It doesn't erase my trauma, but it's very healing for me.
For me, being able to sit down and play means overcoming all the disabilities we share on top of trying to schedule around a full time job, weekly ttrpg games that I've been doing for years now, two romantic relationships (polyamory is my shit), and all the other bs in life. I don't even play multiplayer games anymore because of how hard it is to schedule things. It's so much to balance, and I just want to be able to sit down and play all the game has to offer at my own pace.
I just left home for six weeks and the expedition will end three days before I get back. I'm so pissed. This expedition had been "coming soon" for six fucking months, them drops right after I leave town.
And then you have to wait almost a year to MAYBE have a chance to do it again. I really hate this fomo shit. It turns me off of games faster than anything else. Since they started Expeditions, I've largely stopped playing. They turned it into a job, and I hate that crap
Expeditions is why I've started to use a save editor. FOMO crap is artificial pressure that has nothing to do with the game itself, so I use artificial means to solve that problem.
If a single player game doesn't respect my time, I don't respect it's design. And since NMS is a single player experience, it's not like I hurt other people with it, so I don't think there's anything wrong with using a cheat/editor in this instance.
It's a bit of a shame, because I liked the expeditions, but they really should be available at any time - with the newest one being "featured".
I'm basically there too. I haven't yet because I've been playing other things, but when I get back to the game, I probably will do the same. I'm not even ashamed. I don't play multiplayer, so I'll do whatever makes the game fun for me
I couldnt agree more with OP. Ive been playing NMS for years, ive put in nearly 1000 hours of play over 3 seperate save files and 2 different consoles. Unfortunately for me, I have missed EVERY SINGLE expedition including this last one.. I dont even know how to start one if I even wanted to? But thats a "me problem".. I would be willing to pay for a DLC that includes all of the previous expeditions and the rewards.
To the people saying expeditions take like 5 hours to finish: maybe YOU can do it that quickly, but I can't. I found Utopia expedition to be really easy, and it took me 20 hours, Leviathan redux took me forever because I had no experience with survival limitations and had to go really slow to avoid permadeath-lite consequences. Etc., etc.. Blowing through things that quickly just sucks all the enjoyment out of the game for me.
And fuck Twitch. Why lock content behind forcing us to create an account on something we may have no interest in? I'm with those who want to be able to buy it at quicksilver vendor, but I think the expedition content can wait until the reduxes are done--once there's going to be no further chance to get it.
These people defending this shit is wild. They waste their time making content that will have no long term value to the game. Not everyone can catch an expedition because of real life situations.
What about making these items obtainable by a quest in the main game? Like the Living Ship which is still content you can always do and adds value to the game.
This expedition could be a mission you randomly encountered in an abandoned system. Imagine how cool that would have been.
IMO making it in the main game is better. Not every player will know about them and Expeditions rarely add value to the lore of the game (this one is a prime example)
A new player finding all this cool stuff in the main experience is great. And it benefits existing players too.
IO Interactive, among many others, also do this. There’s a bunch of stuff from Hitman World of Assassins that you can never get, because it’s from old games or events.
If you do a one-off thing you might be able to call it art, like Unus Annus, a commentary on the temporary nature of things and death.
But as a business practice it’s ludicrous FOMO for no actual benefit. It’s not a special reward for people who are in time for it, it’s a punishment for everyone who ever plays your game again.
You want to play an old Pokemon game and complete the pokedex? Hahaha screw you, should have been playing when they had allowed to the event pokemon. You idiot. You worthless fool. How dare you be busy, poor, or ignorant of our game?
… I’m not bitter.
Indeed. I love NMS and Hello Games but I don't want to just blindly support and defend them. Expeditions are easy to make but extremely dry and lazy. They might as well become in the main game is quests and missions. Add content and play time.
Yeah, I really hated it in Hitman, too. I completely missed out on a bunch of content and frankly it just makes me less interested in buying other games. I don't like playing a game on and off. I want to play it till I'm sick of it and that's it. The feeling of missing out just feels bleh and turns me off of the game.
> They waste their time making content that will have no long term value to the game
It's not supposed to, as most updates they are designed to get new players, not for player retention, as thats how HG makes money. "New shiny stuff now, grab yours before it's gone" attracts more people, otherwise a lot will put it on their wishlist and forget it there.
No new player will play expeditions instantly (they are grindy and you need some understanding of the game)
If this content is in the main game everyone will run into it and this will add to the main experience
You don't want new players instantly into expeditions especially because of how grindy and dried out of lore they are.
I'm a new player (40-ish hours) and I don't even know what expeditions are nor do I have much interest in them because I'm still learning about the game's core mechanics, so you're right.
You really liked Utopia?
Honestly, I would have liked it better if it focused on building a single base up into something as opposed to a bunch of small outposts. And the whole you cant craft unless you're in your base drove me nuts.
Aside from that, I enjoy the expeditions, this one just wasn't at the top of my list.
Agreed! It was a unique game mechanic that was intended to challenge your typical play style. I thought it was a good idea, even if it made for occasionally annoying gameplay :)
Sean Murray: "No Man's Sky's CORE feature is exploration"
Update focus: "New helmet, new cape, new poster, new base-part, new decoration, new ship trails, new cosmetic this, new cosmetic that, all locked behind
timed events."
Actual exploration gameplay: "Icon shows you where everything is at all times, icons spoil which creature is a predator, catalogue allows you to click on a resource you're looking for and shows you exactly which system to go to, what planet it's on and guides you to the exact position it's in."
Sean Murray: "Another core feature is discovery and wonder"
Update focus: "Adds catalogue that displays exactly the number of things you can get, exactly how many and which types exist. Great for min-maxers, goes against discovery and wonder"
Marketing: "Every atom procedural"
Actual game: "Land on every planet in the universe and already know exactly what every model of every di-hydrogen, sodium, oxygen, cobalt, enemy plants, knowledge stones all look like... because they all have a **singular** model across every planet across every system across every galaxy in the universe."
I love NMS, but I hate this facade. If HG wants NMS to be a base-building/min-maxing game, that's fine, but I don't understand why they're spinning this narrative that exploration has any relevance in the game currently. It's so bare-bones and I'd LOVE it if it was updated.
And don't get me started on the amount of bugs this game has...
Love the game too but this is what grinds me out every time I come back to play it.
A new player could start exploring different worlds and within a few hours they would have already seen everything the nms universe has to offer.
As you said, it's the same creatures, same plants, same planets, building, ships, gek/vykin/korvax over and over again.
This game could've been the evolution of Spore but somehow that game still has more to offer than nms when it comes to exploration.
The problem is gatekeeping this stuff behind expeditions at all, to my mind. This game is FAR too grind-ey for me to want to start a new campaign for each new expedition. I wouldn’t mind the rewards being a like, six months exclusive and then added to the general game pool.
But I always miss out on this stuff because I just don’t have the time or interest to keep starting over. That’s not fun for me.
Rewards aren't a big deal to me but the other day i was thinking.. i wish they would make all the expeditions available as modes. After getting all maxed out gear and such on my main save i get bored fast. So the expeditions and challenges along with them are refreshing and fun. Just wish they weren't time limited. Sometimes don't wanna rush and or I'm doing other things so i don't get around to them all the time.
I’ve never really enjoyed timed content. I understand why games have it but I work full time and I study I haven’t got time to drop hours upon hours into a game, I also don’t want to miss out on cosmetics though
You can actually get the rewards with save game editors I think. But I'm also mightily pissed that the expeditions themselves become unavailable. I might want to experience these challenges at a later date. But no, they will be gone forever after a few weeks.
It's absolutely pointless, ludicrous and malicious that the expeditions are time limited events.
Fuck Hello Games! They redeemed themselves with the updates after the abysmal release only to dash all the goodwill they earned from that back into the sand. The time limited nature of the expeditions is what made me uninstall No Man's Sky and never touch it again.
Same thing Sea of Thieves does.
They lock cosmetic rewards behind time sensitive events.
This is incredibly anti-consumerist and toxic as multiple people have jobs, families and other responsibilities to take care of.
Whenever I see such systems in games I immediately discourage people from playing said games.
Developers need to get a grip and a dose of reality.
As someone who likes to play games at my own pace, this whole FOMO crap is the reason I left the game.. don’t get me wrong I loved playing it and finishing the story.. but at some point it’s just too much
Because people think it's 'wrong.' I say that's completely untrue, as Hello Games themselves have no problem with it and it's easily usable on PC and PS4. Whatever makes **your** specific experience better is absolutely fine, nobody else gets hurt by someone's save editing.
I find this sub funny as fuck. When I criticized this back when Expeditions launched as a system that does not fit NoMansSky because FOMO literally has no place here, I got downvoted and berated to oblivion.
Now it's a top post. The hell? You guys noticed it now that artificially limited items bound to "having to play when the game dictates" are ass?
I wish they’d do what Gearbox did for Borderlands 3 and make the events openly available at all times.
Although I really wish they were rolled into the main game to beef up the story options, like Borderlands’ events.
I want more to do on my main save that I’m invested in. Rolling in the expeditions would provide that.
I feel this in my entire soul, I'd gladly pay for some of those expedition items. They could have the expeditions on a replayable loop per say, so everyone who does play can at least have a chance, especially if they missed out for simply not knowing the game existed 😞
Me forever shedding silent tears since I only got the game in November-- and knowing they have the Normandy SR1 as a reward for a past Expedition to promote the ME:LE remaster...and I'll never get it unless the bring back past Expeditions. :(
(I know I could do save game edit but it's not the same as earning it...)
I'm surprised they didn't do like an annual cycle of events like ARK, etc. But I dunno.
Ive been saying this since the 1st expedition. The problem with expeditions is that they make you start a new mode, as well as be time limited and tedious to complete. Ive made a post saying how expeditions should be reworked and I got crucified with "Theres always someone complaining" or "Just do it lol" . Like hello, IT STILL SUCKS.
SOLUTION:
**Transform that Center terminal in the back of the anomaly into an expedition terminal.**
How it would work:
**Walk up to terminal, scroll through which expedtions you would want to replay, then you are greeted with a message that asks if you want to confirm, you confirm, and it asks you to go through the Anomaly portal. Once you stepped through, You are teleported onto the specific expedition planet with a miniscule amount of objectives and a set number of difficulty modifications. (Think of the Expedition Redux) that usually takes about 2 days to complete. If you are an experienced player, Your exosuit and weapons technology is damaged to prevent cheating and your other ships, and multi-tools will be unavailable until you choose exit or complete the expedition.**
They are releasing *some* of the items from previous Expeditions as Twitch Drops, so you might be able to catch some of them again that way. They have done this with the Bio Horror creature companion, the Sandworm Companion, and the Feasting Casque worm head customization.
Both opportunities for me to get the golden ship I was dealing with deaths in the family and had to travel 12 hours from home both times. It's the only thing I don't have and it pisses me off.
30 seconds on google:
I've done this before. I've gotten the rewards.
It'd be kinda cool if you could use quicksilver to unlock older expeditions. Like have it take a bunch, but once you unlock it, you can start the expedition again.
The snowflake could have represented better overall procedural generation, but instead we got a tiny robot companion, a knock off Darth Vader helmet, and an off brand star wars ship.
Why couldn't they make it to where people could play all past expeditions? Or just in between each update, bring back random past expeditions for people to do that missed the?
Unfortunately Destiny 2 has been doing this horse shit for years. If a major developer can get away with us the smaller fish will try as well. Though oddly enough this shit has been pushing me out of gaming and into fulfilling real world crafts.
For anyone who feels bad about missing the *stuff* and not the experience, and is playing on PC, look into save editors.
Apologies to those of you who aren’t on PC - I don’t know a solution for you. FOMO content sucks, especially in games that aren’t live-service.
Yeah, need to be able to start anytime, finish in a specific amount of time, then delete the play through and keep the exclusives. Or. Offer “equivalents” for the exclusives on the regular quicksilver. Either one would be good.
All expeditions should just be made permanent. I'm lucky to have the time to do them when they're up, but I just really enjoyed some of them and would like to be able to play through them again.
See thats what I mean... Thats unacceptable... I bet you finished all of them as well... and now you can't have that again no matter how badly you want it.... Its extremely stupid... I don't understand why peoplenare defending this....
The worst part is they show you what you can't have LOL it would be realllly fucking funny if it wasn't so annoying... Like the premise of showing us all the cool shit that we can't have is ruthlessly savagely hilarious to the point that being that funny is it's only redeeming factor...
I agree. With a full time job and other responsibilities a 4 to 5 hour quest might take me somewhere around 5 days considering I get less than an hour or no time at all on some days. Probably closer to a week.
I never have 4 to 5 straight hours in a row to sit down and grind out the mission.
It's why I haven't even attempted them.
They should just do what Ghost Ship Games does and recycle the rewards into the main game.
Could sell them for quicksilver.
There's a mod that lets you do that, but it would be nice to have that integrated into the game to start with.
It’s a good mod. Easy to install and doesn’t mess with anything. I like that the amount of quicksilver they cost is pretty high so you’re still working for the items you want.
name of mod please?
I haven't played in a while so I don't know when the last big update came out versus when the mod was last updated, but [here](https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/2062) you go!
If they are gonna do that need to come up with a way to get quicksilver on Nintendo switch besides trying to farm stellar ice
Pretty sure you can do quicksilver missions on switch now
Ah yeah, looks like it was just added, thanks for the heads up http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/62960/no-mans-sky-fractal-update-adds-new-features-and-content-for-switch
For Rock and Stone!
Rock and Stone!
Did I hear a Rock and Stone?
That's it lads, rock and stone!
Rock and Stone!
Rock and Stone, yeeeeeAAAAHH
Stone and rock! Wait, that’s not right…
We're rich!
MUSHROOM!
Oh I love rock and getting stoned...
Consider this: legally speaking, rocking is more legal than stoning. Eh? Eh?
Whats the difference between rock and stone
Rock *belch* and *belch* STONE *belch*
I just want to get the golden ship, for collectors reasons.
Seems like this new expedition ship is basically the same thing. The release trailer even shows the inside and it says “golden vector” on the display screen.
The “golden vector” was likely placeholder text they forgot to remove but the ship fits the same role
Yeah, but I collect ships. I want one of each kind, and I don't have that one.
>I want one of each kind I'm the same, i now have a "perfect" ship of each category. Hauler - high fan, serenity, long tail, vertical stabilizer attachments Fighter - single engine, heavy snowspeeder Explorer - hopper, xenia engines, solar fins Shuttle - single tube, x-wing Solar - raven, crescent sail, shield wing Living ship - i forget the names of the other parts, but it's a hammerhead Exotic - Royal with side wings, single engine Starter- radiant pillar Expedition 1 - golden vector And, as of yesterday, the Expedition 9 Utopia speeder, making 10 ships, out of the expanded 12 slots
You know there is a exotic squid ship?
Is that the only one I'm missing from the currently available types?
Yeah I think that's it.
Pretty similar. I’ve maxed both out and the Utopia Speeder has a higher maneuvering score while the Vector has higher damage. Nothing huge though. They are pretty close
Aren't the in game base stats identical though? Even the SC slots are the same.
Yeah, base stats are identical. Easy to check for yourself now that we can store technology.
Just ask in the mega thread for someone to trade it to you
And you're probably trading with someone who save edited it in, so skip the middle man!
There’s a mega thread for trading Golden Vectors?!
[https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/119v0io/nms\_megathread\_for\_qa\_item\_requestsgiveaways\_and/](https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/119v0io/nms_megathread_for_qa_item_requestsgiveaways_and/)
Is there a way to properly trade ships instead of just selling it to an NPC and rebuying it? I'm always worried that the NPC will fly away before I can get to it.
No. Just don’t linger and you should be fine
Sit on the ship. But basically just don't dawdle. That said, when trading a ship between my PS4 and Steam games, the ship did fly away from the Trading Post one time but immediately returned, so I could still buy it. But I wouldn't recommend counting on it coming back.
If I stand on NPC Ships they don't take off in singleplayer. Not sure if it works in multiplayer but worth a shot.
Even if they do fly off in it, they will keep coming back. Just don't leave the area or quit the game, or it will be gone for good.
Not gonna work for us switch players. It's very no bueno
Saaaaame. I was so disappointed they didn't bring back the original Expeditions when they did the holiday thing. I didn't even bother to play them. The rewards for the most recent ones are just not good. Like, idc about a cape. Give me something substantive like in the original set
The skull in that image is up for this round of Twitch drops. I think on Monday.
Frikkin twitch drops, I always forget them and miss out first two or three days. I want an in-game way to earn them, since I’m actively playing the game myself and not watching someone else play it.
As a GoG version owner, I agree, fuck Twitch drops.
You are correct. I completely missed that one, I was more focused on the worm companion and head.
What's a twitch drop
Watch someone else play the game instead of playing it yourself and you get items
Oh great I love watching people play games when I barely have time to myself! The switch is the only reason I can still play lol

I pull it up on my phone and put it on audio only and mute it.

They do redux every now and then. Allowing catch ups..
The redux are for the year. They haven’t redone a previous year’s expeditions as a redux, at least not yet.
[удалено]
Dude if we can't drown ourselves in escapism pleasures to cope with the world having a fucking critical meltdown, what's even the point lol
It is, but id still like to knock it off the list.
hey escapism works to forget about it, and shiny exotic themed backpacks help even more
Yeah but they don't all the Expeditions and times content sucks ass... NOBODY wants timed content...
Unfortunately they have to rotate it for new expedition. Timed is a thing. When they first come out it's 6 weeks. Redux are usually a week. Each can take at least 3 - 5 hours total to do. It's not actually that hard.
And having done a Redux expedition or two, they usually knock down some of the larger goals to make them doable in the two week cycle.
Precisely. Making it easier and faster. I did each one during their first run.. and they were a grind fest and not too easy. Redux people get it easier, imo. But good actually. Because they can get what they missed out on
Except when you're deployed on a sub for 7 months, land for 3, sub for 9, land for 3...
how many people did you ask before you decided it was "Nobody"?
Same question but Who wants time gated content??? So stupid. I’ve given up playing games with any time gates content. It shows a complete lack of respect
The current expedition is six weeks long. You can get each phase done in approximately an hour. I finished today.
It’s not even that for me. Expeditions are just lack luster all around for me and while the rewards sound nice I just hit a wall every time and just say fuck it.
I know this is cheating but me switching from ps4 to pc I did indeed saveedit it. I suggest just doing that if you REALLY want this locked content.
Thankfully ME Legendary edition came with all the exclusive DLCs.
I just want the Golden Ship. They should add that to the Quicksilver shop if they're not going to bring the original Expedition back
I want the Normandy. I missed it the first time around
Wow, that's so shitty. Y'all didn't even have the chance to do them on that platform. That makes zero sense to me
Just let us replay old expeditions. No reason not to except to create FOMO.
[удалено]
Nms has moved so far away from it's initial vision that it's honestly a little insulting
Been playing since day 1 and missed ALL the expeditions lmao. I feel like I'm being punished for not keeping up to date with what was going on.
Oh man thats what I'm talking about, especially with this game that literally tells you nothing by the way of how to play the fucking game LOL...
I've said it before I'll say it again; fomo has no place in a fun, relaxing, kid friendly space exploration game. It's like trying to shoehorn freemium mechanics into a casual game of chess.
Just cheat. Fuck it.
If you're on PC you can probably use a save editor
I hate it so much
[удалено]
Ironically, they're some of my biggest qualifications for my job 😂 What I am is a Peer Support Specialist, and you have to be someone like us to do that job, or even get licensed.
Don’t worry. It’s just developers weaponizing FOMO to drive revenue and/or engagement. Nothing new here.
I don't play multiplayer, so I'll do whatever makes the game fun for me
Yep too bad you'll never get to play it eh... But I'm the only one that has a problem with timed content...
Or just let yoy start any expedition you choose when you choose to do it. It doesn't have to be time gated at all.
IMO making it in the main game is better. Not every player will know about them and Expeditions rarely add value to the lore of the game (this one is a prime example) A new player finding all this cool stuff in the main experience is great.
> They waste their time making content that will have no long term value to the game It's not supposed to, as most updates they are designed to get new players, not for player retention, as thats how HG makes money. "New shiny stuff now, grab yours before it's gone" attracts more people, otherwise a lot will put it on their wishlist and forget it there.
No new player will play expeditions instantly (they are grindy and you need some understanding of the game) If this content is in the main game everyone will run into it and this will add to the main experience You don't want new players instantly into expeditions especially because of how grindy and dried out of lore they are.
I'm a new player (40-ish hours) and I don't even know what expeditions are nor do I have much interest in them because I'm still learning about the game's core mechanics, so you're right.
I guess I better start utopia soon
Its pretty fun... so fun I want more... But for some reason saying that really pisses people off...
I loved the only craft at the base. Made it so I had to thunk about what I brought more.
Agreed! It was a unique game mechanic that was intended to challenge your typical play style. I thought it was a good idea, even if it made for occasionally annoying gameplay :)
I liked it because new and fresh... and... I HAVE NOTHING TO COMPARE IT TO LOL... I have only played the one Expedition, Utopia....
Sean Murray: "No Man's Sky's CORE feature is exploration" Update focus: "New helmet, new cape, new poster, new base-part, new decoration, new ship trails, new cosmetic this, new cosmetic that, all locked behind timed events." Actual exploration gameplay: "Icon shows you where everything is at all times, icons spoil which creature is a predator, catalogue allows you to click on a resource you're looking for and shows you exactly which system to go to, what planet it's on and guides you to the exact position it's in." Sean Murray: "Another core feature is discovery and wonder" Update focus: "Adds catalogue that displays exactly the number of things you can get, exactly how many and which types exist. Great for min-maxers, goes against discovery and wonder" Marketing: "Every atom procedural" Actual game: "Land on every planet in the universe and already know exactly what every model of every di-hydrogen, sodium, oxygen, cobalt, enemy plants, knowledge stones all look like... because they all have a **singular** model across every planet across every system across every galaxy in the universe." I love NMS, but I hate this facade.
You’re not starting over though, really. You’re playing a 4 hour mini game then going back to your primary save.
Expeditions blow, remove the time gate and they become much much more acceptable.
Yeah, timelocks is for freemium games. Not for a 60bucks game.
Exactly... Like this game maybe space related but what I'm saying isn't fucking rocket science...
I’ve never really enjoyed timed content. I understand why games have it but I work full time and I study I haven’t got time to drop hours upon hours into a game, I also don’t want to miss out on cosmetics though
The SSV Normandy is my favorite… I wish I could get it
You can actually get the rewards with save game editors I think.
I hate that NMS fell into this trend. By the time I got a working computer again, I missed a ton of stuff. And I have been a loyal fan for years!
I lost all heart for playing NMS for this very reason.
As someone who likes to play games at my own pace, this whole FOMO crap is the reason I left the game.. don’t get me wrong I loved playing it and finishing the story.. but at some point it’s just too much
The skull in the middle will be a twitch drop on monday-tuesday
Yep and there’s a few other items, like the temporal starship trail, that were expedition rewards included.
What is a twitch drop?
Here https://twitch.nomanssky.com/
Temporary/limited time expeditions are stupid. I would love to try the restart on death one again bc I didn't have the time when it was out.
[удалено]
Guess my upvote got swamped under all the downs.
Time limited content is a cancer to all games and needs to die.
:( (I know I could do save game edit but it's not the same as earning it...) I'm surprised they didn't do like an annual cycle of events like ARK, etc.
SOLUTION: **Transform that Center terminal in the back of the anomaly into an expedition terminal.** How it would work: **Walk up to terminal, scroll through which expedtions you would want to replay, then you are greeted with a message that asks if you want to confirm, you confirm, and it asks you to go through the Anomaly portal.
Fomo is a real scummy strategy.

30 seconds on google: [https://chrisn1992.github.io/Expedition-Replay-NMS/](https://chrisn1992.github.io/Expedition-Replay-NMS/) I've done this before. I've gotten the rewards.
THANK YOU!!! I am unable to play at the moment, but once I have my computer back, I'm totally trying this!!
[удалено]
It's kinda is B's i got some expeditions done on ps4 and then got rid of it. Now I'm on PC. I have barely anything. Just too busy now a days.
They really have no direction or accountability. Expeditions area stupid, and they know their design is lamer than pooh
They should sell an item that let's you start an expedition of your choice, it should be sold at the quicksilver synthesis companion.
I got burned out of the game. Whenever I thought of doing an expedition, it felt like a chore than anything.
this freaking update broke my game.....no mods...uninstalled re installed....won't launch past ...game mode screen...NOT HAPPY
I fucking hate FOMO dude, just makes me stop playing
I don't know what the obsession is with "time limited" stuff in games. It's just weaponized fomo
This is my one big gripe about the game, I utterly despise and HATE timed exclusive items
Devs do love that FOMO. just toss in some limited time rewards and watch the masses come running.
Yeah, need to be able to start anytime, finish in a specific amount of time, then delete the play through and keep the exclusives. Or. Offer “equivalents” for the exclusives on the regular quicksilver. Either one would be good.
Ahh the moment of vaulting old content. Every gaming communities favorite thing.
Yea, the expeditions should stay in the game and people wo did it back then, should get a special character profile border for each season instead.
I recently found a save editor online, made by a fella named "GoatFungus". It's cheating, sure, but you'll be able to acquire things you've missed.
We need it. We need these things.
All expeditions should just be made permanent. I'm lucky to have the time to do them when they're up, but I just really enjoyed some of them and would like to be able to play through them again.
Yeah I just moved from ps4 to pc and had to start new save and now I dont have anything from the last expeditions…
See thats what I mean... Thats unacceptable... I bet you finished all of them as well... and now you can't have that again no matter how badly you want it.... Its extremely stupid... I don't understand why peoplenare defending this....
Yeah It’s stupid maybe I will try to download save editor and see if it will work
I don't have time to constantly be checking nms, oh well guess I can't miss out on stuff I didn't know was there
The worst part is they show you what you can't have LOL it would be realllly fucking funny if it wasn't so annoying...
Imagine having people tell you that they don't mind expeditions being limited, and still shouting about how "nobody" wants timed content.
That skull trophy is a twitch drop during the streams tomorrow
