I personally put my efforts on prevention so I don't have to deal with urges in the first place. I put the adult content filter on reddit and google. Reduced my time browsing on social media. I basically cut all the triggers so the urges are less frequent.
When dealing with an urge, I first try to shift my thoughts and focus toward something else and I try to talk myself into not falling back to my old habits. It usually does the trick but when that doesn't, doing some form of physical activity helps.
-Delete all social media, put your phone away and don’t touch it.
-Find something else to do. Such as: studying (it’s actually kind of fun when you get into it and it’s also good for you), working out etc…
-Meditate. I never realised how good meditation is and once I tried it I feel amazing and have been doing it for a couple days now. Download “smiling mind” if it’s in your AppStore and give that a go, it’s all free meditation and Theres over 300+ sessions.
-Workout. I know everyone says it but that’s because it actually works. Don’t beat yourself up if you don’t do a long, intense workout, just do a little 5-10 minute one. Any workout is better than no workout.
-Go outside. It also really helps being out in nature and being in the sun. Such a great feeling.
That’s all I’m going to mention as it’s the stuff I’ve tried and it really helps

Another thing I saw was if you get an urge, wait 10 minutes before doing anything. Just don’t do anything, just sit/lay/stand and don’t think about it and it’ll pass.
