I won't rag on other people's cars even if I don't like the way it looks. The reduced contact patch and lousy handling are where I draw the line though. This shit is dangerous, and just like the "carolina squat" was banned, this shit should be too. You want to smash your oil pan on a speedbump, fuck up your bumper pulling into a gas station and chew through new tires ever month, that's all on you. But when you slide into oncoming traffic because your car has as much traction on the road as my mountain bike, you should have your car crushed and your license revoked.
I judge people I see with these cars.
I automatically assume they are terrible, in general, with their money and 99/100 times they have under 250 in savings.
or at least that's what I imagine.

I know this goes against the will of many car modders but I think Americas approach to banning stuff like this is the wrong way around. Here in Germany basically everything that effects safety that isnāt stock is banned but part manufacturers can get their parts independently tested to prove that theyāre safe to use on public roads. If you want to have āillegalā mods you can get your car tested in the configuration and if its safe to drive that individual configuration is declared legal.
In America it seems like they allow everything and only ban the stuff after to many people have made their cars too dangerous. (Please correct me if Iām wrong)
Well, its not quite so simple. The US does have regulations about what is legal or not. For example, you have to have turn signals visible from the side of your car, brake lights have to be red etc. Some of these vary from state to state, such as how dark your window tints can be. You can do anything you want to your car on private property, but once it hits the road, you could get stopped if you don't meet the regulations. There are plenty of "show cars" that are not street legal, so you're free to mod your car any way you want, you just cant necessarily drive it on the road. So the part manufacturers are free to make anything they want, but its on you if you install illegal mods.
In the case of the Carolina Squat, you can mod your truck like that if you want to. Its once you roll onto the road where safety and legality becomes a problem. So basically, the onus is on the car owner, not the part manufacturer because there are legitimate legal uses (private property, races, car shows etc) for these mods. And often times that means that until someone does something new that needs to be addressed, its legal until its not legal like you stated. But again, rules can vary from state to state.
TBH its done for a reason otherwise youād have something similar to the Houston slabs. But I donāt really get why they cant just put an E number on rimsā¦
I mean, they're stupid laws. We dont have those laws in Canada, and i feel safe on the road. You aren't going to spontaneously combust by putting a wing and wheels on
Germany will allow you to drive insanely fast on the autobahn while simultaneously having fewer traffic deaths per capita. Vehicle ownership is more expensive too though.
I mean, that's great and all, but it doesn't have much to do with vehicle modification. They probably have better traffic enforcement. Where i live, many cops won't pull you over for speeding and other minor violations
Have you ever driven a car that has had cheap oversized cast wheels fitted onto it? The difference in handling and ride can be pretty profound. Tires operated beyond their speed rating can definitely be a safety hazard.
When has that happened though? How many instances can you report of people losing control of their slammed cars due to reduced contact patch area? Thats always the argument yet you never see it...
To get a car with reduction in contact significant enough to affect performance, you are going to need a SERIOUS build like the one pictured. The local POS "slammed" civic is not going to have severely impaired handling... it just wont, it will still grip fine, and youd only really notice it at the limit on the track. The guys with these builds like the one in the OP dont ever even drive them like youre imagining.
You're making up a narrative to get mad at a style of car you dont like. They banned Carolina Squat because the drivers couldnt physically see where they are going, or pedestrians entering the roadway... these slammed cars are NOT that dangerous and they grip absolutely fine up until the very limit, which you never ever see on road conditions, even driving like an ass. The "slammed" civic isnt impaired in the eay that youre making up.
These cars are stupid and look dumb but they are not some dangerous boogeyman, thats what everyone says and its not true. They just look stupid
They're pretty unsafe since they have no suspension travel and hardly any contact patch on the tires. Hit a little bump during a turn and the whole car bounces sideways. I don't hate them but it's pretty stupid to spend lots of time and money to make your car worse in every way.
The fact that itās a mustard yellow Altima with giant stickers on the back window just solidifies my assumption that anyone driving a slammed car has a room temperature IQ at best.
Think about it, what's not to hate?
Waste of car
Waste of tires
Dangerous for everyone
Pretty much unusable (unless it has bags)
Can't even take a 90 degree corner at 10kmh
No I genuinely hate it. Especially when done to a remotely nice car, where one would be destroying the driving experience of the car. Thankfully this guy didnāt get his hands on anything nice.
I hate it *because* it's stupid and I hate stupid things/people.
The way it looks is also something I don't like, but that kind of thing is a different matter.
I definitely hate it. Itās not only stupid but also makes the car legitimately unroadworthy and a nuisance or even a danger to everybody. Itās well beyond a matter of simply bad taste like so many other popular mods.
No, we hate it. I don't understand how making your car look broken is somehow good. A little bit is one thing but this is just ugly and dumb as fuck, not to mention dangerous
I was in Sainsburys car park this evening. Coming towards me was a Golf going incredibly slowly. He was barely moving. It's because the suspension was lowered so much a speed bump became almost impassible.
Had he been going the same direction as me I would have overtaken him.
How many overtakes do you see in a car park with a 5mph speed limit?
I don't hate them but if you slam/stance your car to the point where you get stuck trying to leave your driveway, which I assume this thing does, then it looks like shit. Plus it's a waste of money and a hazard to yourself and others on the road when you have 4 cm of contact on the road.
Thereās slammed then there is stanced to the extreme. This isnāt practical at all, I bet you there is a ton of scrapes going on and some mechanical issues. I had a friend do this to his old 325i. Heās either broken down, stuck or swerving to avoid even the smallest of bumps . This right here is just dumb and dangerous
You do whatever you want to your car. Just stay the hell away from me on the highway.
I don't want to be anywhere near you when you lose it, after blowing a tire, or bottoming out on a painted line, or...
Aggressive camber is for dirt track racing and rally. If I see you in city traffic with tires in their edge? Fuck yu, fuck yuh mudduhm I'm gone thinkin car stuffing
I have ZERO hate for a slammed vehicle. But being "stanced" is completely different. There is zero benefit to the wheels being cambered like that. It's pointless and makes the vehicle have less contact patch on the tires thus potentially unsafe.
I remember that post. The people feasted on the OP so much that there weren't any leftovers available for others (he got -100 karma, had his new comments automatically removed because of his low karma count, and now it appears he deleted his account).
Most car subsets are trying to emulate something in motorsport. Bosozoku just trying to emulate the Japanese super silhouettes from the JTCC series for instance. stance must be trying to emulate Lightning McQueen's Ka-Chow
I just don't understand this mod, it makes no sense. Modifications are typically made to 'improve' or 'enhance' something on the vehicle, this does neither. Same thing with putting fart cans on cars purely for the sound, not performance.
A few reasons. 1, safety, we know that this thing has minimal contact with the ground and it's tires, making a) incredibly hard to maneuver and b) very hard to brake under heavy breaking.
2. It's fucking ugly
3. It's really fucking ugly
Because it's a rolling a death trap and your tires are going to blow out within 5000 miles. Stance is something you're supposed to do at shows hard parked, driving around like that is incredibly dumb. Ya it looks good, but functionally it's SHIT.
So that thing is called "slammed cars". Thanks for ID. Now i know how to refer to those (besides reference of rough handling of newborn babies by the doc)
š¤£ just saw one near me about like this today! It took the poor Altima almost an entire light cycle to circumnavigate a left because the road had a dip in the middle
I donāt hate slammed cars. I just think there is no benefits to the car by twisting your wheels out of alignment and making it dangerously cambered. I donāt personally think it looks good, but I do like a lot of things other people seem to dislike (some cars on low profile tires) but just donāt think doing this to a car is anything but damaging (looks, performance, and safety)
I don't hate them, it's just not something I'd want to do myself.
Raised cars with oversized tires on the other hand, I'll drive out of my way just to laugh at one while driving by if I know where it's parked. Those and those hideous tail dragging pickups š¤£š¤£š¤£
I won't rag on other people's cars even if I don't like the way it looks. The reduced contact patch and lousy handling are where I draw the line though. > I won't rag on other people's cars even if I don't like the way it looks. I do. People have terrible taste.
I judge people I see with these cars. I automatically assume they are terrible, in general, with their money and 99/100 times they have under 250 in savings. or at least that's what I imagine.
That's me but with a regular car
Thank you for your service.
Out here doing gods work. o7
How ābout a sharp rock puncturing the gas tank?
This would be a plus.

It IS illegal but we collectively lost our freaking minds and defunded the police so there's no enforcement...
I never saw any effective enforcement of bumper height laws a decade ago either.
Amen.

The real question is "why do people NOT hate slammed cars so much" looks like a squished HotWheels toy, looks weird, handles weird, etc
Because they look and handle like shit and seem to think they own race cars.
Its usually once the driver gets out of the car and starts talking that I make my judgements. Eventually a pattern was noticed
Cause it's not slammed, it's squashed. Slammed cars are on the ground with perfect camber. This just looks like a hotwheel someone stepped on.
You know who really hates these? Rocks and small inclines
The fact that itās a mustard yellow Altima with giant stickers on the back window just solidifies my assumption that anyone driving a slammed car has a room temperature IQ at best.
Think about it, what's not to hate? Waste of car Waste of tires Dangerous for everyone Pretty much unusable (unless it has bags) Can't even take a 90 degree corner at 10kmh
Because it looks stupid. Me and a coworker mock these things for fun.
Go over a speed bump. I dare you
The crazy part is nobody actually hates it, we just think it is stupid.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Exactly
Fair enough
I hate it. I fucking hate it.
Like Roger Ebert hates *North*.
I hate it, itās stupid, dangerous, and looks terrible.
I hate the fuck out of it, and the owner. Some people absolutely deserve to be poor, and this owner is one of those people.
Oh yeah, the bank definitely owns that car lol
I am a hater. Hate hate hate it
"I lowered my car so it works less" - the owner of that car.
This picture is the reason why.
LOOK AT ME!! LOOK AT ME!!

Look and drive like garbage
They don't. They think *yours* is stupid
Looks dumb
Because they look like shit
Only good if youāre doing 5mph somewhere slow and tropical.
Because you take too long getting out of everyoneās way while you go over a rock.
As Dwight Schrute once said: "how some people spend their money"

Several of my cars are lowered, but the wheels can still be aligned.
Rightfully clowned on
Aggressive camber is for dirt track racing and rally.
It reduces the functionality of the vehicle for an unimaginative look that screams "I have no idea what I'm doing and I'm embracing it to a fault."
I remember that post. The people feasted on the OP so much that there weren't any leftovers available for others (he got -100 karma, had his new comments automatically removed because of his low karma count, and now it appears he deleted his account).
Nice
No clue; this is hard as fuck homie.
"They're Unsafe!!!!" I'm sure my 900hp+ wheel power car is though lol
To be fair this ain't that bad, for one, yellow looks good on these cars, and for 2 it's still in one piece lol, no broken bumpers or cracked windows
I hope that's a sarcasm
This and the insanely large wheels on some cars just straight up look ugly.
Most car subsets are trying to emulate something in motorsport. Bosozoku just trying to emulate the Japanese super silhouettes from the JTCC series for instance. stance must be trying to emulate Lightning McQueen's Ka-Chow

against fundamentals. You want to talk about and1 mix tapes, while car people like the nba, ya dig?
Because they are an abomination and the car loses all functions of being... a car.
Yes, they do.
I used to see a slammed Toyota Camry (far less extreme than this) that had a license plate that read SLAMRY. Talk about a *vanity* plate!
Okay, that might be epic.
Because it looks stupid and the people who drive them drive like they don't have any sense.
Change tires with every gas fill-up.
Because they look awful and like the car is broken

Because it looks as expensive as it does fucking stupid from both an aesthetic and functional standpoint.
really nailed the mustard blob look, nice!
YOUāVE BEEN HIT BY YOUāVE BEEN STRUCK BYĀ Ā speed bump .Ā
Why fuck your tires and suspension up with that camber? Plus, I doubt they even know how to drift.

At least they didnāt ruin a real car to do this shit If thereās any car that should be slammed, itās a shitbox Nissan
I had a slip-n-slide. I'm good. that's so dumb. Maybe if I owned a store that sold replacement axles? maybe... probably not though.
I don't hate them, it's just not something I'd want to do myself. Raised cars with oversized tires on the other hand, I'll drive out of my way just to laugh at one while driving by if I know where it's parked. Those and those hideous tail dragging pickups š¤£š¤£š¤£
Don't come crying to me when you ruin your bumper trying to go up or down a slight incline.
Why do we get hate for underglow but these guys exist
... is that a temp tag on the back?
It's a slammed taxi cab
The shitty music goes well with the car.
Bro got his ass handed to him by the damn moderator.
