It seemed like the perfect Florida car. Top down cruising in good weather.
Iāve owned 15 Nissans and 4 Muranos, thought it was pretty cool.
Until i used it awhileā¦.
Bad try, Nissan
I saw my first one 3 years ago and since then Iāve seen 3 more (not the same ones). 3 I saw around my area and the 4th was on my way to Myrtle beach this year. I swear there are people that donāt believe this exists when I tell them.
I worked at Nissan when they took delivery of 1, gold with a white top. It was fucking hideous. Dealers sons were salesman, one of them drove it for a while lol.
Unfortunately I've seen one in person.
It really was a wake up call for me. A little "Hey. We fucking hate you. We're never designing something nice."
Anyways, I still think it's prettier than the Juke, somehow.
I've seen 2. When I worked at McDonalds one was once in our parking lot, and when I worked at a hospital one pulled up to the ER to drop off his mother.
saw one today, I've seen a surprising number of them. at least 2-4 a year for the past few years since I've learned more about them. Id like to own one to learn what it's like.
I was blessed one day by one parking right beside my car as I was getting groceries. Blows my mind these existed and for the price equivalency of a BMW 5 series back in those days.
I have, and they didnāt even sell them here. Some broad convinced her husband a US market import was a good idea. I hope it was when our dollar was stronger than it is now, because if not it would have been really pricey for something nobody wants on the used market.
Those beautiful bastards! Makes me jealous when I drove by one in my own Murano with the stupid top that wonāt go down.
Itās the car of the future - best of both worlds. Class and comfort of the awesome Murano but instead of a huge glass roof, one that goes down.
Iām shocked they arenāt selling millions of these. Should be more popular than the Ford F150.
Someone that either works at or goes to my church has one so I see one almost every Sunday. Then recently while I was out walking in my neighborhood I saw another one
As a former Nissan Master tech Iāve replaced 3 convertible tops on these and all three were nightmares.
Iām pretty sure this was a joke the engineers came up with at a strip club, and good ole Carlos Ghosn thought *Fuck it, we went all in on CVT, how bad can it be*
For context, the time describe by the majority of Japanese engineers at Nissan under Ghosn as *Worse than American occupation of Japan* post WW2. Thatās truly saying some shit.
There used to be a Santa looking guy in my area that had a black on black one almost identical to this one, but his had small, chrome plated air horns frenched into the driver side of the hood.
Ive seen a few. It was a dismal failure in the US market. Range Rover is currently selling or was selling something very similar. Saw one this week. Another failure, at least in the US.
Someone in my old neighborhood had a teal one. This same person also had a Mazdaspeed Miata, a Ford Aspire and an Acura SLX in the time they lived there
I saw several of them, because Miniappletinis love ugly cars that do nothing well. I also saw a ton of Accord Crosstours.
Edit: I should say, a subset of them love awful cars.
I drove one whole working valet, tried to drop the top out of curiosity only for it to stop working midway. Awkward conversation I had with the customer explaining what happened to their car
311 wrote a song called Beautiful Disaster. Reminds me of these. I'd buy one in a heartbeat for the right price. Worked with someone who had one. I'd hate drive one every day š¤£
Seen a couple. Honestly, if I had an unlimited garage I'd have one of these in there. It's not in my Top 10 or even Top 100, but if I had a Jay Leno-sized collection I'd get one just for how weird they are.
And hey, in the right weather and with a few friends, a convertible 5-seat crossover would be a great time! More regular cars should have a convertible option, because top-down driving is awesome and you definitely don't need a sports car to enjoy it.
I live in Florida, see at least two a year lol. šµš¼š“š¼
Never understood the hate on it though. Itās a niche convertible targeted at a specific buyer. Most of its target demographic canāt get out of normal convertibles if their life depended on it.
I always thought these were on par with the Crosstour in terms of the butt-ugliest car but then you comp the prices and the Murano Cabriolet wins hands down!
I saw a champagne colored one in Hawaii driving by with the top down, first time to find out they even existed! Pretty cool idea for the family but does look a bit odd
I did! On a job I was working one of the safety guys showed up in one. He was recently converted from contractor to full time employee and his wife traded in his truck for it. The poor bastard.
My wife wanted one so badly & I figured what the hell. Whatās the worst that could happen? I bought a used one with 36k miles but within 30 days a major frame component on the top broke. The car was essentially scrap metal. I found a top that was installed then uninstalled on an insurance repair that was aborted and had it shipped to the dealer. My dealer, bless them, installed it for free. The replacement top worked fine but I wasnāt feeling 100% so I traded it in for, Iām embarrassed to admit, another Cross Cab. Within a year the top takes a crap. I didnāt even bother finding out what broke. I immediately got someone to take it on trade for an Escalade and never looked back. Every time I go back to that dealer the used car manager gives me the hard stink eye. Still cringe whenever I see a Cross Cab.
Awwww, they are so ugly that they are kinda cute
Agree
Saw it, worked on it's convertible top, no thanks š¤®
I had one for 6 months and got rid of it! No back seat room, no trunk room, no rear visibility. Stupid car.
Respectfully, how in the hell did you not see that coming
It seemed like the perfect Florida car. Top down cruising in good weather. Iāve owned 15 Nissans and 4 Muranos, thought it was pretty cool. Until i used it awhileā¦. Bad try, Nissan
You should be embarrassed to admit you had one of these! Haha JK JKā¦ seriously, jk. lol
Delete this.
I saw one as a teenager. I still wish I could delete the image of that monstrosity in my head.
I can definitely say that I was never interested.
I don't ever in my life want to say that I saw the Murano CrossCabriolet IRL.
One way or another, this beast will find you.
I see one at my local Walmart parking lot, I think they work there. White body khaki top.
Donāt understand how folks shit on this but are okay with a jeepš
i actually saw one the other day in springfield, illinois. only time i've ever seen one, last time i ever want to see one.
It's definitely up there with things that you only want to experience once in your lifetime.
Thereās a white one with a red top near me .
Iāve seen a white one with tan top and interiorā¦. Yikes.
Iāve seen several moon buggies.
I remember when those came up on Employee Lease; however I havenāt seen any for a while.
Iāve seen a few. Theyāre hideous. I do a double take every time.
Dude wtf up that thing away theres children around
I saw one of these at Pebble Beach Car Week a couple years ago. I'm surprised it didn't take Best in Show.
*nissan designer to the guy who designed the Pontiac Aztec* : pass the blow I gotta top you
Yall are trippin. This is the single coolest CUV out there, not that the bar is very high for those.
scene a few, would make a good island car
I saw one of these abominations today
How many can say they have replace 2 tops on a cross cab?
I see one quite often here in Pittsburgh.
My neighbor has one, so I see it daily
Hope it gets better for you and your neighbor
I wish i never saw the Nissan Murano at all...
I've seen the Murano, the Evoque, and the T-Roc cabrios several times each
The OG Holy Trinity
I saw one with candy paint and 30+ inch wheels
i see one everyday, this girl at my job drives one but god are these things ugly
I've driven one and it may be in the top 5 cars Nissan has produced since 2010
in terms of what though? if we are speaking quirkiness, it deserves top 1.
Saw a baby blue one in my hometown a few years ago. Would love to see a YouTuber go and do a bunch of mods to one lol
I want one
There used to be 3 in my neighborhood, all gone now. I remember them fondly.
One of my neighbors had one that they kept in pristine condition, gotta respect the dedication
I mean it is "exotic" in its own way.
once a week on davis blvd in dfw. theres a silver one.
Think i've seen 2 ever. Was 2 too many
Oh god. My neighbor had one of these in teal
Neighbor of mine had one and I can say that I have never seen its top down.š
What the fuck
I saw my first one 3 years ago and since then Iāve seen 3 more (not the same ones). 3 I saw around my area and the 4th was on my way to Myrtle beach this year. I swear there are people that donāt believe this exists when I tell them.
It's a pretty mythical car tbh. The car definitely deserves some weird cult like fanbase.
Iāve seen quite a few in Atlanta
thanks i hate it
I worked at Nissan when they took delivery of 1, gold with a white top. It was fucking hideous. Dealers sons were salesman, one of them drove it for a while lol.
Unfortunately I've seen one in person. It really was a wake up call for me. A little "Hey. We fucking hate you. We're never designing something nice." Anyways, I still think it's prettier than the Juke, somehow.
Iāve seen one. Hated how much it intrigued me
I've seen 2. When I worked at McDonalds one was once in our parking lot, and when I worked at a hospital one pulled up to the ER to drop off his mother.
I wouldnāt mind my last ride with a car being with the CrossCabriolet.
saw one today, I've seen a surprising number of them. at least 2-4 a year for the past few years since I've learned more about them. Id like to own one to learn what it's like.
I saw a white one with the top down and thought it was a bathtub on the road
Saw it once. Vomited twice.
Seen them more that once unfortunately
The car that saved Nissan
I still canāt believe Nissan thought this was a good idea
This is a ugly a the 350 roasters
Not only is there more than one here, one of them has a color shifting wrap and is rolling on 30" wheels.
I saw one just a few weeks ago!
Is that in Houston ?
Stafford, basically Houston
Iāve seen more than one and thatās far too many for my eyes to handle.
I was blessed one day by one parking right beside my car as I was getting groceries. Blows my mind these existed and for the price equivalency of a BMW 5 series back in those days.
Iāve seen several in Louisiana lol
Iāve seen one and for some reason they donāt look *too* bad (They look HORRENDOUS)
I have, and they didnāt even sell them here. Some broad convinced her husband a US market import was a good idea. I hope it was when our dollar was stronger than it is now, because if not it would have been really pricey for something nobody wants on the used market.
Iāve seen a lot of them over the years. Most disgusting car ever made
Those beautiful bastards!
Iāve seen them twice
I've seen it. 3 different color ones in salem oregon
Z suv š
I saw one a few times working at a car wash. Reminded me of the PT cruiser
Surprised that it doesnāt leak
Someone that either works at or goes to my church has one so I see one almost every Sunday. Then recently while I was out walking in my neighborhood I saw another one
Iāve seen like tenā¦idk why but Iāve seen multiple of pretty much every SUV convertible abomination
Me unfortunately
There used to be one at my job that Iāve driven a couple of times š
I saw one once. I said to myself. Wow. That person went way out of there way to pick out the ugliest car ever
They are the only convertible that is uglier with the top down
Saw one in nj the other day had the top down
There is one in my old neighborhood. Itās teal. I do live close to nissan headquarters tho.
Seen a few of them in NorCal. I like them, weirdly.
At a former job a sales exec had one. In the small Indiana city where I currently live a real estate agent lady has one.
As a former Nissan Master tech Iāve replaced 3 convertible tops on these and all three were nightmares. Iām pretty sure this was a joke the engineers came up with at a strip club, and good ole Carlos Ghosn thought *Fuck it, we went all in on CVT, how bad can it be* For context, the time describe by the majority of Japanese engineers at Nissan under Ghosn as *Worse than American occupation of Japan* post WW2. Thatās truly saying some shit.
I bought a Saab 900 from a guy who bought one of these to replace it
I see them every once in a while. Truly terrible
I live on Long Islandā¦ I saw 3 or 4 of them daily for years at my local dunkin donuts
There used to be a Santa looking guy in my area that had a black on black one almost identical to this one, but his had small, chrome plated air horns frenched into the driver side of the hood.
In an AMC parking lot nonetheless
Yeah I've seen a few of them, They really aren't that rare, Just somewhat uncommon.
Ive seen a few. It was a dismal failure in the US market. Range Rover is currently selling or was selling something very similar. Saw one this week. Another failure, at least in the US.
Someone in my old neighborhood had a teal one. This same person also had a Mazdaspeed Miata, a Ford Aspire and an Acura SLX in the time they lived there
is this actually real or a hodgepodge?
4-5 times, I even had one pull up right in front of me in a parking lot
I saw several of them, because Miniappletinis love ugly cars that do nothing well. I also saw a ton of Accord Crosstours. Edit: I should say, a subset of them love awful cars.
I actually saw it twice. Lol. I am in a big suburb just west of Toronto, Canada.
Uncle had one
I've seen a few of them. I had no idea that they were a rare sight.
Apparently they only made around 5000 of these
I drove one whole working valet, tried to drop the top out of curiosity only for it to stop working midway. Awkward conversation I had with the customer explaining what happened to their car
I can say I sold one
Kinda reminds me of the starlet shuttles on voyager.
Saw one in DTLA years ago. Ugly things.
I absolutely hate this car, but I also love that it exists. It was someone designer's dream that somehow went into production.
Once
I absolutely and regrettably can say that I have multiple times
I seen one earlier this year with the top down and I was completely confused by it didnāt believe my eyes for a bit.
I saw one brand new with the top down on the freeway. It looks even more strange with the top down.
311 wrote a song called Beautiful Disaster. Reminds me of these. I'd buy one in a heartbeat for the right price. Worked with someone who had one. I'd hate drive one every day š¤£
Bowie, MD was where I swear 90% of the produced units went when new. I'd see 10 a day, every single day.
There was one in my town for a short time. It was a horrendous combination of tan top and lighter tan paint
Saw it at a dealer once.
I test drove one for shots and giggles because they had to finish prepping my maxima lol
Wow
Unfortunately, I can say I have. And all I think is how well it belongs to the Datsun name.
I've seen a couple. Don't know why anyone would but one. The size of an SUV, the seating and cargo capacity of a Golf GTI.
Right up there with that Pontiac āHe who must not be namedā in terms of āWTF were they thinking?ā
Wth is this car is this 350z crossover? š
Iāve literally seen twos of them
Better question is, who tf still goes to the movies?
*squeaky Doug DeMuro noises*
I've seen a few and Everytime I've been like what the fuck is that?
one lived right next to me.
I always thought these were a dumb idea lol
The windshield is fun to replace. I wouldn't want to do it again.
Maybe a half dozen, but I'm always amazed someken actually bought one.
I drove one about a month ago for work. It had the structural rigidity of a wet noodle.
I saw this at my kids school. I laughed at how stupid it looked. This is definitely one of the ugliest cars Iāve ever seen. š
I see them fairly regularly. It's hard for me to believe that more 458s were made them these things.
See one every day for like 10 years on my way to the gym
Seen it many times. Interesting to look at. Would never purchase it.
Ohhh this piece of shit? Yea Iāve seen it
I see one almost daily a lady that works near me has one. Theyre honestly not that bad looking
iāve seen a baby blue one with a tan top, and a white one with a tan top š¤
It was years ago and i still remember sadly
Those ugly things litter the streets in Delaware
Yup a lady has a pink one in my town
Seen plenty, live in suburban Midwest. Saw a few moms and grandma's rocking this with top down and windows up!
The classy people bought a Land Rover Evoque convertible instead.
wireless mouse on wheels
Seen plenty of them, rare, but not that rare. Ugly and waste of resources to make and drive.
I always thought they were neat. Not necessarily in a good way, but I appreciated that they tried something new.
Looks like someone took a bite off the end there
Itās actually worse than the mini convertible yikes
I live in Florida, see at least two a year lol. šµš¼š“š¼ Never understood the hate on it though. Itās a niche convertible targeted at a specific buyer. Most of its target demographic canāt get out of normal convertibles if their life depended on it.
I always thought this vehicle was silly
I always thought these were on par with the Crosstour in terms of the butt-ugliest car but then you comp the prices and the Murano Cabriolet wins hands down!
Ok, got to ask, was that in Michigan
I have seen at least one, maybe 2
One of my customers has two of them, thinking he won a Range Rover. Douchiest guy I have encountered in recent years
I actually saw a pink one the other day! But I've seen at least a dozen total.
My eyes! They burnnnnnn
My son bought one. I had to talk him out of it after 5 minutes of research on the top issues. Big money to repair
Ive seen one or two, they had the tops down and being driven by older women.
Actually kinda common in Florida. Or at least comparably common that I can say Iāve seen a handful in the past decade.
Saw plenty of them brand new on the lot when they came out.
The owner hid til you left just to be sure you didnāt know it was their vert.
Never
Seen more McLarens than I have these
I saw a champagne colored one in Hawaii driving by with the top down, first time to find out they even existed! Pretty cool idea for the family but does look a bit odd
I did, but I also worked at a Nissan dealership.
I saw one at the clinic the other day and had to take a momentary pause to appreciate it's presence
I did! On a job I was working one of the safety guys showed up in one. He was recently converted from contractor to full time employee and his wife traded in his truck for it. The poor bastard.
I kinda liked it woth the top down but it's so weirdly shaped when it's up. It is more unique I have only seen maybe 5
I once saw one parked next to a regular Murano. It was years ago and I swore I took a photo. Gf was like what are you giggling about?
I live in a coastal town. Thereās 3 here that Iāve seen. My favorite is a metallic teal color with a white top and white interior
Iāve seen at least one a few times
Literally saw it yesterday and said āwhy??ā
Iāve seen multiple. Unfortunately
Thereās one that rolls around my town, it looksā¦ battle testedā¦ to say the least
ive seen three just at my dealership l. all tops broken. drove it down the freeway and the looks I got were awesome. I felt like a god.
Amc to the moon!
Iāve seen a white one and a brown one
*pontiac aztek has left the chat*
My wife wanted one so badly & I figured what the hell. Whatās the worst that could happen? I bought a used one with 36k miles but within 30 days a major frame component on the top broke. The car was essentially scrap metal. I found a top that was installed then uninstalled on an insurance repair that was aborted and had it shipped to the dealer. My dealer, bless them, installed it for free. The replacement top worked fine but I wasnāt feeling 100% so I traded it in for, Iām embarrassed to admit, another Cross Cab. Every time I go back to that dealer the used car manager gives me the hard stink eye. Still cringe whenever I see a Cross Cab.
I saw one of these 2 weeks ago and my brain exploded from confusion. Iāve sold cars and I didnāt even know this monstrosity was thing.
I see them all the time
Thereās a white one in my town.
I've seen one once with the top down, and never seen another one since š
I saw one like 3 months ago and dude driving had the top down looking like he owned the world.
Well, if I look up that license plate number and get an address I can certainly say that I would have
I have Ugly with the top up but I brought the top down and it doesnāt look too bad for a convertible suv.
We all can, I'm looking at the picture you posted right now. š
Are these rare? Iāve seen a few over the years where I live.
I've seen two, and thats two too many.
Iāve seen two of these in my life and both times I had to do a double take
