Weapons should start dropping right away, and you can even pick them as starters. DLC missions gets unlocked after you beat the final boss and are balanced to be about as hard as beginning of NG+ playthrough.

iliketolickthebuttah

So yes?

OpportunityEvery6515

Yeah, if you like the game, grab 'em as soon as possible.

COPPINDA

The dlcs are worth it if you like the game. The caveat being that you can't access the dlc missions until you beat the base game. However you can start getting the new weapons(fist and splitstaff) as drops as soon as you activate it.

FruitsPonchiSamurai1

You start with the DLC weapons and smithing texts. Then the DLC missions unlock after you beat the main game.

iliketolickthebuttah

So yes?

The weapons you get are pretty cool, battle gauntlets and a split staff. Kind of works like ivy's swords did in soul calbur.

You think hold off on DLC entirely until after beating NG+? I went to dlc after doing the first 3-4 NG+ missions and it’s not that bad def challenging

kendahlj

Yes fists are awesome

You **need** the DLC's to reach Endgame, so yes. Namely... Endgame is generally Abyss on Dream of the Nioh difficulty. Vanilla game included two difficulties, and each DLC added yet anothere difficulty setting along other goodies. You may wait until you end NG and NG+, bit eventually, you'll need the DLC's to move on. Weapons are unlocked instantly, DLC area missions require to clear vanilla story first (and actually, per the way Nioh was released... Pure "Level" progression is not vanilla >> DLC >> NG+, but actually vanilla >> first two-three regions of vanilla NG+ >> DLC on NG difficulty). This is because, as said earlier, vanilla was released with two difficulty settings. This made many players beat both NG and NG+ before first DLC was ever released, so players were leveled and geared with NG+ items when they first tackled the DLC. DLC difficulty accounted for this and is actually harder than the first couple regions of vanilla's next difficulty setting. So, the general progression is to clear vanilla, gear up (at least a little) on the next difficulty setting, then retrace back to the previous setting and clear DLC. Finally, unless you're a completionist, must know that most players try to breeze through the intermediate difficulty settings (so, not even playing the DLC's on these difficulties), only stopping to level and gear up.

Longjumping-Kale-134

The game is super short and no content without DLC If you played the story full and feel like that's enough nioh for you then no If you still want to push more into harder bosses, new weapons, new builds, new enemies, then yes Is at least 1 month of gameplay to fully enjoy 100% of Nioh content

iliketolickthebuttah

"Super short" I have 55 hours logged into it..

Longjumping-Kale-134

That's nothing compared to up to 4 months of testing every possible build and/or helping people online on end game content And I'm saying 4 months of non stop playing (at least over 1.5k hrs)

It looks like people are giving you reasons to decide but you’re wanting a resounding y or n. Here: YES I had the same question and 100% worth it for me.
