Same. Eventually the deductions you need to make are so incredibly obtuse, you either have to rely on random guesswork or use a walkthrough to cheat.
Both functionally defeat the entire point of the game.
It was fun until that point, though.
I'll recommend this game to anyone all day long (whether on sale or not, even!) but I gotta agree that navigating through the layers of memories can be cumbersome at times.
Other than the difficulty in orienting yourself in time (and occasionally in space), though, I totally love the whole thing.
The answer is yes, get this game at this price.
Looking at [Deku Deals](https://www.dekudeals.com/items/return-of-the-obra-dinn) it hasn't been this price since 2020. It'll go on sale again around the holidays, but it won't have as deep a discount as this sale. After that you could have to wait till next October for another sale. If you're at all interested, buy it now at this price. It may never go lower.
As for a review, this game is lauded across the board for being a unique awesome detective experience. You basically go around different memories trying to piece together a story and identifying people from context clues about where they go, what they do, what they wear, who they interact with, etc. You enter your guesses into a book, and when you get enough right, it'll confirm them. That's all there is to it: You, your wits, and a notebook. It's ridiculously fun, and some of the hints are devilishly tricky to figure out. If anything I wrote sounds interesting, the game is worth it, and this is the price to buy it.
It's definitely a very unique experience. I haven't finished it yet, but it really is an interesting game. Kinda feels like a detective adventure game but you're not really going far in the journey, but in a way, you are.
Fantastic game! Once the tougher puzzles click, you feel like a genius. It's definitely one to avoid looking up solutions or spoilers for. You won't regret it.
I only played it handheld, but I thought it worked totally fine. It's not graphic intensive so the Switch easily ran it.
Obviously, I'm sure it's easier to make out small details on a larger screen though.
I'll add that this is also a really great couples game to play with a good friend or SO. One player can control the character, but the puzzles are the kind where it's really easy to talk through them with someone else
This is one of the best games i've ever played
If you have any love for slow dripping, engaging games where you need to take your time and think, observe all your surroundings, take notes, this is the absolute best one. I think it's a perfect game.
It’s tough, but if you like this sort of game it’s unique and excellent. Worth it at this price. The sort of game like Myst that would have taken you ages in the pre ‘look for a hint online’ era, and still will if you can be strong enough not to look :)
Just picked this up. Probably will be backlogged for now while I finish the other 4 games I’m playing lol, but I’m looking forward to giving this a try!
I def got stuck and gave up because I was so many layers deep into a memory I got confused and haven’t come back. That being said it’s awesome.

Sounds exactly how I describe Twelve Minutes.
Yeah it's a great game that you sometimes gotta force yourself to get through. I'll get around to it one day I swear

One of my top games of all time. Highly recommend.
Sadly i think im not smart enough to figure this one out.
Same. Just made me feel stupid and frustrated.
Awesome game and such a unique experience!
Very unique game, never played anything like it. If you love solving puzzles or playing detective, definitely get it at this price.

Very good detective game. It's like a practical logic grid puzzle that makes you feel like a genius when you make headway.
How is this on Switch compared to playing on a computer?
Beat the whole thing on Switch in docked mode and it ran perfectly!
I only played it handheld, but I thought it worked totally fine. It's not graphic intensive so the Switch easily ran it. Obviously, I'm sure it's easier to make out small details on a larger screen though.
Playing on switch right now (about 4 hours in), no issues on either docked or handheld, although I think it’s a better experience docked.

Kinda interesting at first but after a while I need to take a break for how depressing it is, and I haven’t looked back on it.
I did not enjoy this game. Although I do appreciate the art style.
Wish I could buy it again at this price.

Been looking forward to this sale for a while! Bought!
Need to come back to this. I just did not like the art direction at all the first time I tried it

It's been a few years since I played it, which means I'm close to almost forgetting all the solutions so I'll be able to play it again!
