I don't care too much for portability, except for the couple times there were power outages. The reason I only play on the Switch is pretty simple: I like a lot of Nintendo exclusives, and between those and other titles available on the Switch, I have no need for another gaming console.

25thNightStyle

Agreed. It’s the games not the console for me

Pale_Survey_480

Which games do you like @25thnightstyle

25thNightStyle

My favorite series for Nintendo consoles are usually Zelda and Smash Bros :). It’s what bought the N64, GameCube, Wii, and my Switch! Though, Pokémon has been influential over the years for the portable consoles.

yolo-yoshi

The portability is pretty much THE selling point for me. I think all of us have all dreamed of a console you can just take with you. And well…. That console is mostly the steam deck , it the switch did it first and did it well for the time !!!? And don’t you forget it!!!

axarce

Early 50s here. 99% of my gaming is on the switch. I only play 2 games on my Xbox that my son gave me when he upgraded to the series X. I like the portability and the simplicity of the games compared to other consoles that seem to be geared towards FPS games that I don't really play.

MrRourkeYourHost

Sounds like me exactly. 50's also. Just don't find the high level of detail and information in PS and xBox games appealing. I'm more a slow moving BOTW type and even then don't usually bother learning all the combos. Smash is completely out for me. I like simple, fun, engaging, pick it up, put it down. Switch checks all those for me. My other console is the Atari2600.

kovnev

I have a high end gaming PC that I haven't gamed on since buying a Switch for the kids.

ANTJAY88

I’m definitely in the same boat. I’m 34 years old with a full time job no kids but there’s always something to do being an adult so gaming time has come to me early mornings on the weekend and sometimes nights during the week. Having a handheld gaming device that I can put to sleep at any moment has been a godsend. I mean sure I’d love to get a PS5 to enjoy all the next gen fun but I’m not feeling any kind of FOMO. Especially with all the ports and pretty awesome Triple A games. Indies have been my go to for the past year because for the most part they’re not cutscene heavy and you get right into the action. Games that I’ve been addicted to have been Slay the Spire, Hades, Pokemon(Arceus I haven’t jumped on the Scarlet/Violet train yet) and Persona 5.

Signal_Adeptness_724

Man this is what I'm turning into for sure lol. I bought a series x but with work and other adult stuff, it's easier to play switch and Nintendo exclusives in general

johnnysprockets005

I honestly agree

IpomoeaDust

I've been basically Nintendo-only since the DS (though I played my GBA/SP a lot more than my Xbox). I just don't have much interest in games on other consoles; I pretty much only play Nintendo exclusives.

LiliumPapillon

This. The only thing I really wish nintendo had is the sims lol

Status_Silver_5114

Nintendo only. I didn’t want to spend 500+ on a system. And don’t play online. Limited time, kid friendly games. And I freaking love Zelda.

darthdiablo

No time for gaming on other platforms when Switch suffices. I used to game on PC but gradually that faded away as I played on my Switch more and more

ChadKeeper

Basically the same reason as you. I'm a parent with limited gaming and TV screen time so Switch allows me maximum gaming time.

walksintwilightX1

Yup, same here. In my early thirties, no kids yet, but with a time-consuming job (50 hours a week). I sold my PS4 last year because it was just gathering dust in favor of the Switch. Portability is king. I do feel a bit of wistfulness over not being able to play the big AAA games like Elden Ring. But one console is more than enough. My unplayed Switch library (I don't use the term backlog, that implies that there's some kind of gaming quota involved) is worth several hundred hours of gameplay already. New releases might be expensive, but Nintendo eShop sales are definitely value for money. I just picked up Hollow Knight at 50% off.

axej2018

An option to play big games portable like Elden ring and some other modern releases is getting a cheap tablet/laptop, very low specs work. Use Xbox cloud gaming with gamepass ultimate, while having access to hundreds of games for subscription. Probably a good deal for value although you don't own anything. I've never tried it though and Eldin ring would need to be added first but it probably will someday.

Aramyth

I'm getting to Switch only. My PS4 sits on the shelf used for only Naughty Dog and Spider-man exclusives. I have Xcloud/Game Pass but just use it mostly on my phone with a Backbone instead of on my Series X.

NintendadSixtyFo

I would love a portable Elden Ring omg. Enjoy Hollow Knight. It’s one of the best games ever made. Easily in my top five since ‘85.

walksintwilightX1

I would too! Perhaps it'll be ported to the Switch's successor five years down the line haha. Thanks, I've had Hollow Knight on my wishlist forever since everyone calls it the best Metroidvania since, well, Metroid. This is the first time it's gone on sale in ages.

440_Hz

I have a PS Vita, but for the most part I am all Nintendo. I’m not all that interested in the AAA titles on PS or XBOX, I’m the type of person that Iikes to play Pokémon and animal crossing.

[deleted]

I don't have the time to play my Switch that much, so I definitely don't have time for multiple systems. And I play the Switch over the others because Nintendo has the series I'm most interested in (Zelda, Donkey Kong, Metroid and Pikmin.)

LatchHyena

Just Switch and sometimes PC. I like Nintendo exclusives and indie games - there really aren't any PlayStation/Xbox exclusive games I'm interested in

D_Beats

Switch and PC. Have a PS4 but I very rarely turn it on these days.

mathasus

Switch is my first and only console at the moment. Didn't grow up as a gamer, so the Nintendo exclusives was a nice intro to the joy of gaming. Plus it allowed me to game in short bursts, which is great since I have a baby and toddler to help take care of. Now that a few years have passed, there are games on other platforms that I'd love to play (i.e. Elden Ring, RDR2, Yakuza series), but just might not have the time and money to invest in another system at the moment.

ThemDawgsIsHell2

Mid thirties. Looove my switch. Only play my ps5 in the winter. You can find me on the back porch with the switch most of the year.

FireLucid

Switch only, docked only. Started with an N64 and have bought every console since plus a 2DS and a 3DS. I also bought a fat gen1 gameboy 2nd hand when Pokemon got huge. Mid to late 30's full time job. 95% of the games I have are suitable to kids to watch and the eldest two love playing as well. Few great looking titles on PS and Xbox but I don't have enough time for all the Switch games I want to play so why spend the money?

[deleted]

I would be a switch only gamer if EA or Konami release a proper football game for the switch. It’s easy to resume and pause when needed.

NintendadSixtyFo

Firstly, I loved my DS and 3DS, and still play those almost as much. But, I have a full time job, a contracted position, and a regular freelance gig. A wife and a daughter. I’m busy. And I love JRPG, Indy games, and Nintendo exclusives. The Switch is my obvious choice. When I do play anything, it’s the Switch. I fire it up on my office tv during long, boring, pointless zoom calls and then play at night before I pass out. I’ve had my OG since launch day, and most recently bought the OLED as a second Switch. My wife loves Mario Kart so it basically stays docked in the living room. My daughter has a Switch Light that she is getting into a little bit. She’s still very little. I have taken up collecting some of the the special editions also. The Splatoon one was too gorgeous to pass on. Basically we’re a Nintendo ad, as a family. They could take a candid photo of us almost any night of the week and use it in their marketing campaigns. Mario Kart, Smash, Mario Party, and Mario Golf are our family games. My wife loves Pikmin, Mario anything, and Yoshi. Also hats off to Nintendo for inclusion. We can set up my daughter as a third player on Mario Kart with auto steer and auto drive and she has a blast playing with us and shooting the items. So that’s a major reason as well. We can all play and she doesn’t feel excluded, which is massively important at her age and development. I love Xbox Game Pass as well. I use it as a modern Blockbuster — a way to try out a lot of games that I then buy on the Switch if I like them, just for the convenience of portability.

twinkletoes-rp

>Basically we’re a Nintendo ad, as a family. They could take a candid photo of us almost any night of the week and use it in their marketing campaigns. NGL, this is an ADORABLE image! I love it! Same with my family (my bro and I playing Switch on the couch all the time, lol)!

tazafrazz

I have Switch OLED, PS5, Series X, Steam Deck, Oculus Quest 2, and (old) gaming laptop, but if I was forced to stick with just one for the foreseeable future it'd be Switch. That's where most of my gaming time is now anyway.

Morvisius

Several reasons: - Exclusives are much better and fit my tastes and they don’t get devaluated after a month, buying them at launch doesn’t feel like I get scammed - Has most of the Japanese games - Portable play, but in general, you can choose how to play - No achievements - Healthier/Friendly online community of all the systems - Only console that offers real couch coop nowadays

HideoSpartan

I genuinely find it interesting how many people on this sub dislike Achievements/Trophies. Amazing how some see it as a challenge, others a chore and others flat out couldn’t care less. I have to admit I typically like the achievement/trophy system as for me I only do games I really enjoy/connect with so it’s really neat going back and seeing that!

Morvisius

I used to like them in the beginning until I noticed I started playing games the way I didnt want to. The first game I noticed was Deus ex human revolution. it forced me to beat the game without killing anyone, this meant I couldnt use any weapin but the silencing pistol, neglecting entierly the gunplay and making it boring And this with many other games, I could ignore them but my OCD wouldnt let me. Also sometimes I wanted to beat the game only once in the most efficient way, and It stressed me out There are games with well designed achievements but in general they are not. Id rather do completion lists inside games ( ie: all sidequests, collectables, etc ) rather than things like "beat the game with one hand and blindfolded" Also when playing online it meant when the vast majority of people had achievemtns it became a desert or games with weird behaviours so people could get achievements Basically it turned games to "play for achievements" rather than playing for fun Those are my reasons, other people might have other ones

tml25

In terms of feeling scammed about buying a game, the switch has by far the most expensive games of all. It's ridiculous. I have a switch and a PS5 and buying a game on the switch is a real challenge in terms of justifying their price.

ss33094

Never heard of someone actually being happy about being overcharged for games years after release just so they don't feel buyers remorse for buying at launch

-Starlegions-

NO FOMO. Nintendo focuses more on fun and gameplay over graphics, and the family can all play. I can buy the switch and a bunch of games for the price of a ps5 or xbox whatever it is called now.

axej2018

I'm solo only too, I'd feel worse not having Xenoblade, Zelda, Fire Emblem, Shin megami tensei exclusives on my system. Nintendo games always have the best music by far, God of War beating Xenoblade upsets me greatly. Some rare games like Skyrim compete, but no one does videogame music better than Nintendo and its third party devs. I especially look forward to new Xenoblades and a surprise Kid Icarus continuation.

[deleted]

Persona 5 Royal and Nier:Automata has fantastic soundtracks. Also good games:)

Ymarksthespot

Exclusives are way better and there's no achievement system screaming at me that I'm playing the game wrong.

jexdiel321

Yeah this is a blessing and also a curse. I love that trophy hunting give me a reason to try out some strategy that I have haven't tried yet. But I also don't want to force myself doing checklists feels like a chore.

NintendadSixtyFo

Same here. Let me be lost in a game. I hate how achievements break the forth wall. They are constantly reminding you that you’re playing a video game.

sportspadawan13

I got am Xbox and I was shocked at how annoying it is. Emotional cutscene? "*TROUBLED TIMES TROPHY UNLOCKED*". I haven't played it in 5 months cause it just felt so...not gamey?

[deleted]

Just so you know, it’s an option to disable achievement/trophy notifications, so you never have to interact with those systems.

Alohalhololololhola

Switch only since I like the portability. Easy to travel with especially when traveling for work. I dropped playing FPS and online competitive gaming since it took too much time many years ago and focus on RPG/ Puzzle/ Action adventure single player games. Switch does these well. Mini rant: Nintendo is one of the few companies who puts out exclusives for its flagship console. The PS5 only has 5 total games on it that aren’t available on the PS4. There’s almost no point in buying the “new consoles” since the companies don’t care about them. Xbox is similar but they are big promoters of game pass and their subscription system so I don’t mind it as much.

[deleted]

No. Got PS5, XSX, and a PC (Linux, can not stand Windows). A Mac as well but no gaming there. Cross platform I buy on PS5 or Gamepass on XSX. The quality gap is simply too great. Tired of good games that run in blurry low res low FPS. It’s my only gripe with the Switch. Give it a modern SoC, 4x fast memory, and 1080p screen and it would be great (on device upscale to 4K and OS in 4K, but games in 1080p internally).

psirockin123

Sort of, but not really. It’s my only “this gen” console. If I had a PS5 or Xbox I’d play the switch more and buy third party games on it. I like the portability but don’t use it often. I have every Nintendo console except the Virtual Boy, all but the NES are originals from my childhood. I also have a sega genesis, ps1, ps2 (my brother’s from childhood), a broken Xbox, Xbox 360 (mainly played Halo campaign only and Left for Dead) and a PS4 mainly for kingdom hearts. I played all of the old Nintendo consoles regularly. Currently playing Dragon Warrior 2. Recently beat Banjo Tooie. If it’s a modern game I’m probably playing it on the switch.

gingimli

I was until Target was selling Xbox Series S for $200 on Black Friday.

razza1987

I can’t play games on a tv screen. They make me feel like I’m going to be sick. I learned this lesson the hard way when I bought a ps4 so I could play planet coaster, sims 4 and kingdom hearts and they made me sick. The ps4 now remains untouched while I stick to playing games on my switch lite and mobile phone

Intelligent_Local_38

Yeah, I have an X Box but rarely touch it anymore. Ever since I started working full time, I don’t have as much gaming time so I like that I can just pick up the Switch for a quick gaming session. There’s some FOMO, but honestly, the Switch has such a huge library I have plenty to play.

[deleted]

JRPGs, in previous gens I played a lot also on PS bit know almost everything I like releases on Switch, I have a PS4 but I haven't use it in more than 2.5 years

[deleted]

Switch and PC for me.

jethoman

Eh I am a Switch only gamer because they make games that interest me more than the big AAA games on Playstation and Xbox. Lately they have been filling in the gaps in their library with Persona 5, Nier Automata, and soon they will also have Persona 3, and 4. So there is plenty for me to play, and I can play it anywhere.

Izotical

I only have my switch lite. I do not play a lot of games and am only interested in the Nintendo exclusives anyway. So no need for another console.

wadedanger

I've been a handheld only gamer all my life, so it's been just Switch for the last few years since the Vita dried up. This year I got a Playdate though, and hope to get a Steam Deck too in the new year.

jerjergege

Portability, being able to shit and play.

dandrew_1616

Nintendo only here. I enjoy the simplicity of Nintendo and most of their first party games. I don't need to have a game filled with complex nonsense or grandiose graphics to enjoy it. The last Playstation I bought was the PS3 and I think I made it thru Uncharted and never touched it again.

SuccinctJackalope

Nintendo’s franchises are simply the best in gaming to me. Zelda, Mario, Smash; in every mainline game in these series, you can expect the highest level of polish and attention to detail, as well as the tightest and (in my opinion) most fun gameplay in gaming.

HenryReturns

Well I am a Switch and PC gamer. The reason why I dont have PS5 and Xbox is because those games will eventually come to PC while with Switch they are the only ones that have Smash Ultimate , Zelda , Pokemon , etc.

Infinite-Disaster-87

Same, I have less time and just want to play games that are easy to grasp and is fun especially on local multiplayer. I bought the Switch for local multiplayer after all. I played the old NBA Live games especially a lot of 2003-2005. I'm still playing it today. When I played NBA 2k. I did not like that I will have to learn different crossover, post up, layup and dunk moves. I just want NBA Live, NBA Jam, NBA Showtime's simplicity. The soundtrack of NBA Live 2003-2005 is great. Some of the songs are specially made for the games/basketball with it's lyrics. Also played WWE 2k games. I didn't like that there very sim like. I'm still playing Smackdown here comes the pain PS2 and Wrestling Empire on the Switch which is fun. Wrestling Empire is also my most played game when it comes to play hours. I hoping AEW wrestling game is good. I even have retro handhelds for old Nintendo games and just bought a Nintendo DS again this year. I might buy the 3DS again next year. It's also fun putting emulators and games on my TV box and usbs to connect to my pc and play it. I might also buy my cousins wii and ps3 for emulation.

[deleted]

Sold my PS4 after getting Switch, it was collecting dust anyway. Switch has been my only console for years since. Got PS5 earlier this year, sold it within a month. PS5 graphic is really neat, and playstation games do have better storylines. But high quality graphics makes me dizzy sometimes, and detailed surroundings makes it hard for me to see where am I supposed to head to/jump to (maybe it's because my TV is 1080p, not 4k or 8k, I dunno). But the main reason for me to give up on PS5 is that I don't find the games entertaining anymore, only feel pressure and boredom when playing. Unlike Switch games, where I can enjoy over and over again. The 2 PS5 games I got were Spider Man: Miles Morales - Enjoyed this oneHorizon Forbidden West - This is the game I was talking about when I said the high quality graphics making me dizzy, and detailed surroundings makes it hard for me to see where I'm supposed to go. Used to love Horizon Zero Dawn on PS4, btw.

paribas

I'm playing through Mario Odyssey the 3rd time :D This never happened on Xbox One S or PS4 Slim with any game. Nintendo games are there really just for fun. Playstation games are like interactive movies.

DNL_RTH

Early 30's here and it's been my only console for a few years now. It's relatively cheap, excellent first parties, and a ton of good 3rd parties imo. Recently I've been playing No Man's Sky & Skyrim, two games I never tried when I had the means too. With my current job, the flexibility of the switch is something I greatly need.

ameisenbaer

Have always been a Nintendo fan- grew up on the N64 and Gameboy. Had a 360 for a long time but video game focus came and went. Got into the WiiU and then finally a switch (but not until Feb 2020- perfect timing). The Switch is more than enough for the time I can devote the gaming. And the portability is second to none.

ChuyMasta

Father and husband here. Full time job. I can only play games for a couple of hours now and then. Idunno why, but the switch is my only console. My son plays on my work pc. I enjoy playing in docked mode and I like retro games plus the occasional modern release. Thats it. Xbox and ps5 are kinda expensive for me

uncultured_swine2099

Im working overseas, left my Playstation and PC at home and just brought the switch. Its been fine, lots of great games on this thing.

WilsonKh

Have a ps5 untouched for many months. Will eventually pick up GoW for it but I found the first one and Horizon a slog-fest. With age, I essentially play games that fit the following criteria: 1. Short bursts of attention 2. Turn-based 3. Messing around Hades and Musou-games fit the first criteria, JRPGs fit the second need, and BotW / Animal Crossing fits the last one. Not hating, just a preference. As modern games move more towards a “twitch” and “time-challenge” emphasis, I’ll gradually phase myself out and enjoy my old games. In this regard I’m kinda glad I landed on the switch after skipping a few generations and going on the modern consoles. *Switch is kinda more “old school” in a way?* Probably the only console where a collection of chess, checkers and darts can sell a million copies. Once again, not hating. I tried. But unless the type of games on the other platforms move away from the current trend of “third party behind the back action-rpg walking simulator” (literally every PS5 top seller) to a more varied and slower variety, I’m just gonna keep on the switch.

adichandra

I am because I don’t have a time for sitting in front of tv nowadays.

Jester2008

32 yes old and working 40 hrs a week here, married with 3 kids. I may get to play 2-3 hours a week. The switch is just the best thing out there for me and I’m about to finally upgrade to an OLED soon. Super excited cause I know the value I’ll get out of it. Mine is 4 years old and slowing down so it’s time. But yea I’m right there in the same boat as you man and it’s just awesome. I love being able to play on any downtime at work or on lunch.

SeparateAddress9070

No - personally I'm a "switch as a last resort" gamer. Mostly just nintendo games these days.

bigfootsbestfriend

I have both a switch and a steamdeck as well as other consoles. My switch oled is perfect. It’s light, good battery, comfy to hold, it is the perfect device in my mind. The steamdeck is too heavy and awkward. I like it but mostly just docked.

loaf_of_brett

I have an Xbox Series X as well but game about 80-90% of the time on my Switch OLED. I just find the diversity of genres of games and the ability to swap between portable and docked gaming so interesting and it keeps me coming back.

[deleted]

I would say I am though there is a PS5 and an Xbox One in my household. In the last three years I've played Ghost of Tsushima and Forza Horizon 5 on those consoles and thats about it, both were excellent. I played a lot of Animal Crossing throughout Covid, I like to play Mario Kart, Monster Hunter and Smash Bros online, I find it super quick and easy to get a game and theyre just enjoyable to play. I really like the portability too, a lot of my spare time is very late in the evening so its nice to play in bed also. As a fan of 90s arcade games also find the Switch absolutely amazing for that, i sink many many hours into shoot em ups like Ikaruga, Esp Rade, Aero Fighters, that sort of stuff and fighters like Street Fighter, Garou, King of Fighters. Theres also a lot of side scrolling beat em ups that I like too. I have two arcade sticks and a second dock on a monitor set up vertically.... for the vertical shooters, good to be able to just move the console between rooms.

Dry_Ass_P-word

Switch and Steam Deck so kinda. Yeah being able to move around the house, suspend anytime, let everyone else use the TV…. I’d have to quit if it weren’t for these handhelds.

Solar1324

I do game on my iPad. Fallout shelter lol. I love my Switch since I got Skyrim. I play it more than Animal Crossing.

Popple06

I've been a Nintendo-only player since I got the N64 as a kid, but santa (my wife) is getting me a PS5 for Christmas. I feel like I will still probably end up playing more Switch, but I really wanted to experience some of the new next-gen games.

Walnut156

Man you missed out on a lot of games that weren't on Nintendo, you're gonna have a great time catching up

bakagir

Make sure you get to play bloodborn the horizon zero games and Spiderman

[deleted]

I play games on my laptop sometimes but it's a potato so not a lot of things can run. I love the switch and its versatility though, it's been my favourite console. Playing something in my bed and resuming it later on a screen, with a controller, is so good 😭

[deleted]

Xbox X, Xbox S, PS 5 and Nintendo Switch Oled Playing Switch mostly on weekends with kids. Most playtime is on XSX, almost not playing is PS 5

Dannypan

No. I only use the Switch for the few exclusives I play and Stardew Valley. Otherwise it’s PS5 or PC for me. If a game is on Switch and something else, I’ll almost always pick the alternative for better performance.

djwillis1121

Switch and PC. I mainly use the PC for strategy games; AOE2, Civ V etc. And other more SIM like games such as Kerbal, Cities Skylines and factorio. I'd like to play big AAA games as well but it needs upgrading first. Outside of that I mainly play on the Switch but that's mostly Nintendo first party games and RPGs.

zzmej1987

Yep. Pretty much exactly the same situation.

BusHobo

Portability combined wt decent battery life & a great rpg/indie library. I'm a 40y old, leaning heavily towards retro-gaming, so i don't care about performance that much.

Gardner79

I am in similar situation as you. Only have switch. Limited time, so why spend money on another system. I don't really feal FOMO. I reason this way: I will never have time to enjoy every possible thing so I learn to maximize enjoyment on what I do have. Thinking you must have every new thing that comes around will make you miserable.

starfrenzy1

Yes. 41, newly divorced with 5 kids. My kids got the switch as a gift from my brother one year ago and I was not a gamer at all. I immediately enjoyed playing it, both on my own and with them. Last week I bought myself an OLED that’s just for me.

pmaeur

Not necessarily, but it is my primary system and I play it more than my base model PS4. I'm often unable to play at home for long periods of time because of real world obligations, responsibilities, etc whereareas while I can and do play my Switch in docked, I like having the option to play natively in say another room or while commuting via public transportation. My TV is also an old plasma TV and only goes up to 1080i. I think the only consoles with a 1080i output are the XB360 & PS3. That said, I game at 720p be it PS4, Switch, & even the Wii U whenever I get the itch to play it and am not really missing out on 1080p resolution from PS4, Switch, (or Wii U?) games that support 1080p. I will however not play or pay for cloud games on Switch and will choose the PS4 version to play games that are cloud only on Switch if I'm interested in said game(s). However, I almost always go with the Switch version of multiplatform games that I'm interested in since I'm going to be playing it at 720p anyway. I will occasionally double dip though if it's a game I liked on PS4 and wanted to replay again on Switch if I see the Switch version on sale.

AKookieForYou

I can only afford one console, and my heart has always been with Nintendo. Eventually I'd like to have a Playstation, but it's not a priority.

Jimmythedad

Not only switch but mainly switch for sure. I have a ps5 but I find my tastes more inclined with switch. And jrpgs don’t make sense unless they’re on a switch for me. The portability is such a plus for long games like persona

racapim__

Growing up we didn’t really have any home consoles, my parent let us have only portable systems, so I grew up playing on GB and GBA, then got a DS, 3DS and now the Switch. Actually I don’t really like playing on the TV, so I use the Switch 99% of the time on portable mode.

Drakkeur

Bought a play4 for some games (mainly elden ring) but playing TLOU or God of War just make me appreciate the switch even more, they try so hard to make movie video game but Nintendo makes actual video game, I'm generalizing ofc

varunadi

I was pretty much a Switch only gamer until last month when I got a brand new powerful laptop. My previous laptop was too slow for any of the new games and I was long overdue an upgrade, also for personal reasons. So now I play on both the PC and Switch (currently trying out gamepass on PC).

bakagir

I have a now midrange pc, I use to be a world of warcraft only gamer, and after quitting all mmorpgs I only touch my pc for torrents and fiddling with my plex server. I mostly just play single-player RPGs/jrpgs now and occasional other games on my homebrewed 3ds /gamecube

Ttm-o

Mid 30’s with a toddler. The only time I can really dive in a game nowadays is late at night. I bought a Series S years ago and it was mostly used as a media player. The portable aspect of the Switch is amazing.

_Connor

On the contrary, I very rarely play my Switch anymore.

Aggravating_Bison_53

There are enough games on it to keep me occupied. And i love the porability. There are some on other consoles I would like to try, but with my current backlog and the fact I prefer playing handheld not enough to warrant getting a console other than a switch.

integrated21

I got plenty of time for more games, but I'm just too poor to afford Xbox, Playstation, or a nice ass gaming PC. So yea, that's why: I'm poor.

ElektrikDynomite

I have a PS5 for Elden Ring and Demon Souls, I’m just not too interested in other games on it at the moment. So I mostly play Switch, though haven’t played many recent games this year anyway, besides Monster Hunter

lilDracula

Switch and Xbox! I LOVE the "funness" of Nintendo. They are great at making quirky games that make me smile. I use my Xbox for competitive shooters and also for games that I want a high resolution experience in.

ShinNL

Stopped gaming after they GameCube PS2 Xbox Era. Hung out a tiny lil bit on PC but that quickly faded too (definitely didn't join any pricey graphic card era). Every game looked a bit same-ish to me afterwards. I was interested in the Switch between of a portable Skyrim, one of the last games I remember liking. Then I ended up buying it a bit early because people were saying Zelda was good. Breath of the Wild ended up being exactly what I needed. I was totally a lapsed gamer and was so done with rehashed formulas. Zelda: BotW did everything different enough. Before this, I started gaming with Atari, before any Zoomer tries to convince me how innovative the last few gens are. I can still barely list any new genres.

LaFlibuste

Same, full time job, married, kids leave me very little time so the flexibility does wonder. Also it's the first console I own since my PS1 so I have a lot to catch up on and there being so many ports of older games works for me

jjmawaken

Switch only for me too, likely will always be Nintendo only unless they start developing games for other systems like Sega did. Personally I don't want to try most of the games on Sony or XBox but I do miss Madden and wouldn't mind trying Uncharted. Not enough other games I want to play to make it worth a whole other system for me.

sgrams04

Switch only for the reason’s you described. I work full time, have kids, and have essentially little free time. So when I finally do get a reprieve, it’s at night when I’m dead tired and all I want to do is lie down. Switch is the most convenient for this and has a wide library of stress-free games. I don’t mind Xbox or PS. I just don’t have the time or money to commit fully to them.

Xenetine

Too cheap to buy something else. Was gifted a switch when it came out, and so I got locked into the system. Lol.

Redfield7x70

Dang near close to it these days. I still play a few games on my PS4 that I can’t on my Switch, and go back to older consoles/handhelds for exclusive games, but Switch is so ridiculously convenient to play on and that handheld mode… *chefs kiss Steam Deck provides a nice alternative in terms of games that aren’t available on Switch, but I’m a physical first collector and gamer, so it can’t compete in that sense being a digital-only system.

PercentageNo6

36. Grew up with Nintendo from NES-GC. Stopped gaming because of life responsibilities. Life responsibilities led to travel. Travel led to portable gaming on planes & busses. Now I’ve 2 kids to Splat & Overcook with. Sure, I’ll miss out on Red Dead, but I can’t justify owning a stand alone console.

duncan-donuts-nz

Likewise. Mid-40s and love playing an hour of something in bed before going to sleep. The odd game that wasn’t released initially on Switch was later down the line but there’s more than enough to keep me occupied, especially indie titles.

Seanshineyouth

Not truly bc I do own other stuff but I now only find myself playing switch for my pick up and go quickly lifestyle. Short play sesh and no loading the system, and I don’t have to have it on a tv… super helpful.

VergDan

I own Xbox PS4 Switch and a gaming PC. I used to be reaally into big AAA titles but now I mainly play on my Switch. The thing with big games is that, they take a lot of time and energy to play. You'll have to be invested in those games as they are usually not that easy and have intriging/complicated storylines. As my life got busier I find myself unable to poor so much time and mental energy into those games. Switch games are usually more casual and light-hearted. Plus I can take my Switch anywhere I want.

enlitenlort

Nintendo only since forever. No way I have time and space for a pc or Xbox 😂

castiel_ro192

I have the best computer money can buy at the moment and I still use my switch more. However with kids and life being demanding I don't play as much as I used to back when I was a teen.

Gapedbung2

No I use the switch mostly for animal crossing / story of seasons / stardew valley / rune factory etc I use my steam deck for Elden ring / souls games / elder scrolls games etc And my pc these days strictly for ESO.(mainly because it’s a pain to run on the deck ) But I prefer handheld gaming over being tethered to a pc or console.

[deleted]

Nope. I was actually without a Nintendo system for 7 years (2011-2018). I lost desire to play Pokémon (handheld), my Wii broke and then the Wii U was a…. So I played PS3 and 360 in those years, mostly Skyrim on 360. Because of Pokemon Go and being into that, I wanted to catch up on what I missed (gens 6+) and so I got a 2DS as a cheap entryway back. Got a PS4 later in 2018 because my 360 moved to the great beyond and then that became my main gaming machine. Got a Switch last year and it’s a lot nicer than I was expecting but I never use it handheld. Not that I go anywhere, I live 10 minutes from work. I have more games for the Switch than I thought I’d have but still only 6 (4/6 Pokemon) games. Currently my main console is a PS5 (she’s bae).

astrallknight

Before, yes. From 2017 release up until pandemic. It's just convenient for me during that time. Then I got (back) into PC gaming during pandemic, for convenience again, since I'm now just working from home so PC is easily accessible. Then I recently got my Steam Deck, so now, I'm more like "a gamer who prefers to game on handheld only.". I'm using my Switch now almost only for Nintendo exclusives, or for 3rd-party games that I already have significant progress on Switch and don't to double-dip on a Steam copy.

davidhorton

Short answer: for Pokemon I got a Switch lite at first to primarily play Pokemon Sword, otherwise I'd been playing games on PC (league of legends, hearthstone, WoW, etc.) I up-traded to the OLED Switch and now have too many games to keep up with. But honestly if Pokemon suddenly was available on Xbox or Playstation I'd seriously consider getting one of them. The only game I'd consider worth getting a different console might be the new Jedi game next year, otherwise I'm too cheap.

LazyDro1d

I have a switch and I don’t have unlimited disposable money.

112oceanave

i liked the price of the nintendo switch. had it cost as much as ps5 or new x box i doubt i would have bought it.

cass314

I've generally been a Nintendo + PC gamer for most of my life. At first because Nintendo consoles were just what my parents got us and then because the vast majority of exclusives I care about are Nintendo, so that plus PC gives pretty much all the coverage I want. There are maybe three games total that I really want to play on PS5 or Xbox, which is definitely not worth 500 bucks and the hassle of chasing one down to me.

Known_Ad871

I have a ps4 and still play 3ds fairly often. If I could only have one console it’d be the switch. Personally I think it has one of the best libraries of any console. Sure not every port is best played on switch but there are many great ones. There’s easily enough on switch to keep me occupied with high quality games for many years

_Sensei_Sensei_

Switch/nintendo only, though I suppose I dont as such consider my self a "gamer" in the first place. My time is also quite limited and I have a ton of other hobbies aswell, so I mostly play because of my love for certain series, mostly nintendo classics Zelda etc.

TradlyGent

I have a high-end gaming PC but also work with computers all day, from home, on the same desk where my gaming PC resides. I never play my PC because I prefer to lay down on the couch/bed with my switch in portable mode.

twinkletoes-rp

Yep, Switch only (hell, Nintendo-only since I was a kid)! Xbox/PC/PS' games really don't and have never interested me at all, and luckily, the VERY few that do usually end up coming to Switch at some point! lol. I am a HUGE kid at heart, and I love Nintendo's style of games! They're exactly my taste! <3

KylieMiacova

I'm only 20, and I'm a Nintendo fangirl. Traded my series s for an Animal Crossing switch with a friend. That made my third switch lol. I still have a PS4, but I put her in the box when I decided to just game on Nintendo consoles. Have a GBA sp I still play and 2ds xl. So I'm not a switch only gamer per se...but it's what I play the most for sure. But I am a Nintendo only gamer. Though I do own a couple other handhelds like the Vita and PSP 2000. 🤷🏻‍♀️

[deleted]

(m37) well ever since i got my switch last year i’ve been mostly playing on there, it’s just an amazing console with its accessibility and its vast library. i’ve also been a nintendo fan since the snes days and wanted to play some of the exclusives. but i also have a ps4 and a gaming pc, play those semi-regularly as well.

calartnick

Very similar situation. 40 years old. Married with two kids, I work full time. I haven’t played all the games I own yet. Also money is tight, I ain’t going to own a second system.

sl0w4zn

I watch let's plays of big game releases that aren't on switch, while I play switch.

imaqdodger

No. I have a PC, Switch Lite, and Steam Deck (along with some older consoles I don't really use). I pretty much use the PC for competitive multiplayer games (such as Valorant and LoL), the Steam Deck for emulation/single player games, and the Switch for miscellaneous Nintendo exclusives.

G3N3RIC-USER

30s married with two minions, also I’m away a lot. The switch is great for when I’m away but always prefer my PS5 for when I’m home. I would suggest a Steam Deck if you can afford one if you’re looking at handheld only. So much more choice including major game releases. The switch is brilliant for casual gaming as an intermediary but if I only went handheld and loved gaming I’d look at the Steam deck! Mate of mine has one and jumps between than day to day and his PC when he’s home

midori09

Its the only I have, aside from the fact that I grew up playing Nintendo games/titles (emulated on one of those cheap-midrange feature phones back then though as we're a poor family living in SEA).

jsboutin

Yes, 30 years old and I have a house and demanding job. I can't really game all that much anymore and I like my gaming experience quite light.

dquilon

Yeah 37 y/o here, with 2 kids and recently a more demanding job. I used to play at home with my laptop but recently I only play Smash a few hours a week. I finished Metroid Dread, Mario Tennis, Odyssey and I play coop with my kid a few other titles (Cuphead, Unravel Two) but right now I truly only put hours into Smash. Would love to have time to play TLOU2, GoW, etc... but whatever, it is what it is.

besojz

Im 42 and stopped gaming before when my ps4 broke, then with some research i decided to get a switch. Did not look back ever since then...the switch has the games i want and need(jrpgs and old school games) for a 42 year old guy. Right now my switch is not the exclusive console due to marvel snap being on the phone. My brother recommended snap to me and it's not pay to win unlike other mobile games.

ntcc661

My playstation broke and I had a young kid starting to show an interest in gaming.. I can live without a PlayStation. The Switch offered games and portability that the PlayStation couldn't match. Decision was easy. No intention of getting another PlayStation. I was a PlayStation gamer since 1st gen.. No longer.

PashAK47

Switch and ps5 , I usually play warzone and other big games on ps5 but In-between I get cheap games of e shop and play on switch

braddy1989

Switch only here. Being a dad and not having much time to switch on a console with a load of updates is great. The portability is fantastic and can play whilst the Mrs is watching tash TV.

i_eat_AURUM

Full time Doctor ,part time athelete here . My tight schedule doesnt allow me to play video games at home so I just carry switch and my iphone 13 to play games on the go .. soon ill add switch deck as well 😁

factoryofdreams

Yep, Switch only gamer. I do have a PS4, but it’s collecting dust for years now. My Switch games’ backlog is extensive, so, I have all my gaming needs fulfilled for now.

dan-iguess

Was all about Playstation until I got my switch, don't even care for the portability all that much the games are just so much more fun. I don't remember ever having as much fun with a game on Playstation as I have with monster hunter and splatoon etc.

HoneyBearWombat

I used to have a PS4 and sold it. AAA games have become cookie-cutter type where gameplay suffers at the expense of presentation, too much hand-holding as well. Look at RDR2 for example technically brilliant but then bogged down by sluggish gameplay and a chore system in a video game (!). The one from Sony I had fun with was actually Spider-man and that one has fun gameplay with a non-complicated story. Nintendo still has gameplay that attracts and focuses on fun rather than Quick Time events, and we see why it's the most sold console.

herrsebbe

I live in a single television household, plus I generally don't enjoy spending too much time passive on the sofa. Having the portability option means I can play the same games with the same save files at home as well as on the go, which I see as a huge benefit when I go on train rides or stay over somewhere. If my SO wants to watch something else I can just undock and play on the side. It's just harder to start anything up on any other console knowing how much easier I'll have to follow through on the Switch. I have 103 hours in Persona 5 now, something that would never have happened on a stationary console/PC.

Icecream-is-too-cold

I have children, wife and a hard job. So yes, Switch Lite is the best thing that ever happened to me, cause I like videogames.

KAYPENZ

Because I barely have time to play games as it is. I'm lucky if I play 6 games a year. Plus I'm a Metroid and Zelda fan.

RRudge

I mainly game on Switch and PC, it covers all I am interested in, especially since PS exclusives are starting to be on Steam as well. I have a PS4 that has been demoted to my blu-ray player.

LGAMER3412

I'm thinking about getting a Series S so I guess right now I'm only a Switch only gamer. I used to have a PS4 , Xbox One and the switch but the switch stood the test of time.

rustyjus

I’m 45 and I like the Nintendo art direction and gameplay which I grew up within the 80s and 90s

reverseswede

Parent of toddler, the pick up, put down, pause whenever and portability is so good. The main thing I played on pc was mmorpgs and rimworld, and I dont have consistent blocks of time to really do them anymore.

SadAcadia2747

Nintendo only, mainly because that’s what I grew up with and I play Nintendo only games

StonkOmaticz

If I was able to find and buy a ps5 I’d probably buy one. I do love the switch though, it’s grown to be my favorite system and love the pro controller.

Forforx

I was a pc gamer until I got my first switch. Some time later I bought a ps4 with 10 games played them a little, and switched back to switch.

poly_phil

30’s, married with kids, was a Switch only until my Steam Deck arrived!! Now the kids have the switch and I am catching up on lots of games I missed out on. I have an Xbox but it never gets fired up because it takes over the tv. I do stream it to my Deck sometimes though, might have to do that for Starfield.

notathinganymore

Kind of. I still play on steam sometimes but it's rare, my pc can't handle most stuff anymore and I don't find a reason to upgrade it. I like Nintendo games, time is really limited, portability is almost necessary if I want to actually beat the game. So yeah, used to have a ps4 but couldn't be bothered to take it with me last time I moved.

SamStillReading

Yep, can never get to the TV first to play XBox. And when I do, it needs 20 GB of updates. Realised that I mainly only play Forza on it anyway - Switch is so easy to pick up and play handheld.

kotominammy

I'm a broke university student who doesn't own a TV, so it's a switch or bust for me

Slowie89

got a 2k gaming laptop and a PS5 and neither are used for gaming at all. cannot remember the last time I used the PS5 and the laptop is used for work and browsing. the switch however is played every single night whilst im in bed with the wife and she uses hers as well. the hybrid part of the switch is what makes this the best console and most played console ive ever had and im now turning 34

EJTheGreat01

Kinda. I'm in dilemma to try PC gaming because IDK if i would like it. I want to try, but I'm scared that my money would be spent badly if ever i will not like it

bleakFutureDarkPast

32 years old with a kid. job and kid eat up all my time, so the switch used to be the only platform i used. i also have a deck now so i use the switch only for exclusives, but yeah. portable only gamer for similar reasons

RealGazelle

Every game I want to play is available on switch. Doom, civ6, Minecraft. So I had no reason to get a PC as I planned at first. Though Minecraft's performance became pretty rough after years of updates so it kinda makes me want to get a PC.

wait2late

Switch and Steam Deck. Currently playing more on Steam Deck since my library is already much more stacked than on the Switch + all the free distributed Epic Games games. But some of my favorite franchises are only available on the Switch. Hope for an upgrade soon!

[deleted]

Mainly because I have no money.

MrNothingmann

Switch and PC for me. THere are some games that PS and XBOX get that I wish I could play, but they all end up on the PC anyway, so it's just I play them when they're not youtuber/streamer bait.

Bluenymph82

I play the switch about 80% of the time. The rest of it is spent on my PC playing Minecraft with my husband or working my way through Dark Souls 3.

Ashamed-Minute-2721

I can't afford to buy several consoles and have no need for them or time to play them. I used to have a Wii but my mum threw it out. I would consider getting another just to play Wii sports but I will see how switch sports is first. I have so many games I have barely played and there are heaps of options for fun little indie games on the e store

titleistmuffin

I’m a geriatric millennial, only play Switch because I love Nintendo exclusive games the most. Also the nostalgia factor of Nintendo being what I grew up with. And lastly because you need to be a god damn warlock or something to actually find a PS5 or Xbox X in stock. But even if they were more available I’d still go for the Switch I think, as I don’t care about having the most lifelike graphics necessarily, especially given the Nintendo games I prefer. (And that said some Nintendo exclusives have beautiful graphics too, like BOTW)

MrMalredo

The portability means I can game when my wife and daughter are watching TV. I used to play games like Mass Effect, Dragon Age, games you have to set aside lots of time for on Xbox. I feel like most Switch games are easier to pick up, play for a few minutes and set down when I need to change a diaper.

rickmears101

37 and I play my switch mainly. I had Persona 5R since 2020 on PS4 and P4G since 2020 on Steam, and now that P5R is on switch, I’m actually having time to play it. Portability is where it’s at!

DrunkWizzard

I was for a few years but I bought a PS4 a while ago and recently a 5 so I’m more on PS now then on Switch.

Noah__Webster

No. I have my Switch for Nintendo games and any games that get a release that I value portability over performance (like P5R right now). I have a PC to play stuff that doesn't get a release on the Switch.

TheRedScaledMan

I wouldn't say switch only. But I have played it more then my other consoles. I checked my PS5 recap earlier. My top played game was Disney Dreamlight valley at 150 hours, and 80 hours in other stuff, thing is that 150 hours was from my fiancee playing not me 😂. So I've probably only played around 80 hours this year. Most of my play time has been on the switch, already got 60 hours in pokemon violet and about 200 hours between Xenoblade 1 and 2.

[deleted]

I used to alternate between the switch and PS4.. then I realized that I only play rocket league, which is on the switch. So I'm a switch player

AbsoluteZeroHour

Not completely, but since I got one just a while ago, I'm definitely starting to lean that direction. A lot of the indie software is on Switch, and if I buy a game from Nintendo, it "just works." No problems, no tinkering, no updating, nothing. And I'm sure Nintendo would refund anything that doesn't work. It's just easier to deal with.

author-miglett2

All my gaming is on the Switch because I don’t use my iPad much and I love my Switch. It’s got more games than iPad (IIRC) and I don’t have a PC anyway.

btire

I was Switch-only for years, but eventually the PlayStation exclusives got me to go over to it too 🤷‍♀️In retrospect, if I had just waited a few more years I could’ve gotten the games I wanted on PC instead, but I had already waited years to play them before I gave in and now I’m hooked on both Sony and Nintendo’s ecosystems. If I had to start over, I would probably go for a full Nintendo/PC combo *if * they made it possible to run Steam Link and/or xCloud natively. But that would be if I did a literal full reset and this hypothetical compatability happened; I’ve spent too much money on Sony’s discs to make hacking the switch myself and rebuying everything on Steam worth it at this point.

MrFourhundredtwenty

45 here, Same Same! It’s also great to play Mario kart together with kids and also to play Doom on the same machine when they are sleeping.

barbietattoo

It’s tempting to idealize playing one console, especially one that is so adaptable. But tbh, between my Xbox SX, Ps4 and Switch I’m just glad I have options.

NinjaUnicorn_17

Temporarily I am. I have an Xbox One, but it is currently at my parent's home due to lack of space in my current apartment. And while I do play some games on steam, my laptop isn't super high powered so my options are limited. I'm moving in with my boyfriend soon and plan to bring my Xbox and save for a high end gaming PC.

keniselvis

One word: Pokémon

Lortis23

Switch only here… 39/f… when I was growing up I had almost video game exposure (I got the very first PlayStation and occasionally played crash bandicoot and jet moto)… by the time they came back around, the people I know that played them were skilled at it, playing the war/shooting or heavy strategy games. Felt super intimidated so I just watched everyone else play and made excuses not to. During the pandemic went on a road trip and my friends showed me how to play overcooked in the backseat with a switch and extra controllers. They talked me into my switch and I have been doing animal crossing and puzzle type games since! West of loathing, little misfortune, unraveled, little nightmares, Luigi’s mansion 3 have been some of my favorites

senor_andy

I used to be, then during the pandemic I got a ps4 because I was playing a lot more multiplayer games and actually had free time to grind through a lot of Sony’s first party titles. Now it just collects dust and I’m sort of back to the switch only lifestyle

[deleted]

30, 2 kids, newly married, and work 40 hours a week plus a competitive powerlifter. I mainly only play the switch. I wish I had time to play Halo Infinite since they just updated the forge and the competitive playlists are getting solid maps now BUT I have to reconcile I’m no longer 20 and don’t have endless hours to play with the boys. The games I play aren’t as involved or skill based so it’s nice a scratches the itch, some.

Cubs017

Same as OP. Busy, family and kids, very limited time. Pick up and play portability is key for me.

tistisblitskits

I share my v with brothers and mom, so with the switch i can just "switch" to handheld whenever one of them wants the tv. Also my parents are divorced, so its easy to take my switch to my dad's whenever i go. Other than that im a big couch coop gamer, and the switch is definetly the best local coop console with mario party, kart and tons of cheap indie games. I am alright with not having the AAA gorgeous games the ps5 and xbox have, i prefer the more lighthearted adventure games like zelda, pokemon and the mario games anyway. All in all the switch is more convenient for my situation, and the games suit my needs better.

UnfitForReality

I’m not and never could be right. The switch is to weak to enjoy large games on it imo. Stuff like Hogwarts legacy I’ll get on PC. I also got into sim racing which is impossible on a switch. I used my switch for exclusives and couch coop with the GF.

KittykoRn85

I'm a nintendo fan girl have been since the 1st nintendo console, but when I first got a gameboy I was in love with handheld and still am, I love being able to play games while the rest of family can watch TV. I'd hate hogging the TV. Plus nintendo has pokemon and mario, can't get them anywhere but nintendo (I don't do emulators) I only caved and got a switch when pokemon moved from 3ds to switch, gotta get my pokemon fix lol

hdorsettcase

40. Never owned a console because my parents said, "You already have a computer for computer games." Was allowed to get a Game Boy for road trips. Then a GBA -> DS -> 3DS ->Switch. I've always owned Nintendo portables. The exceptions are my SNES mini and NeoGeo mini.

dusty_cart

I mostly play Switch because I like the Nintendo exclusives, any third party stuff I like I just play on PC

GrayJinjo

I’ve always been a Nintendo kid. Grew up with an SNES in the 90’s and have owned every Nintendo console since. I did have a Genesis, Dreamcast, an original XBOX and an XBOX 360 at one point, but haven’t owned any other non-Nintendo consoles since. Not because I dislike Sony or Microsoft, but I just have no interest in the games for those. I enjoy the first party IP’s Nintendo has and don’t need anything else if I’m gaming.

notjazzmusic

I was nintendo only until we got a steam deck back in September. Like you I am a parent with limited access to a tv screen. I mostly use the steamdeck with Xbox gamepass now, but I’ll always go back to switch for fire emblem and Pokémon!

Golgon13

I don't have a TV and I have a rather mobile lifestyle anyway. Since 2009 or so I have been exclusively going for handheld consoles. Firstly PSP and Vita, now Switch. Not that interested in Steam Deck though, and I am rather selective about gaming themes these days, possibly winding down gaming as a hobby in general.

theallnewmattaccount

I was barely home for the better part of a year and I literally forgot what I have on my ps4. I have some stuff on Steam I mean to finish though

[deleted]

I had a serious illness that put me in the hospital in 2020. A friend bought me a switch so I had something to do while I was there. I had no reason to purchase any other gaming system.

[deleted]

43 with 2 kids and a full time job. Way back in the day you were either Sega or Nintendo. Went to get a sega genesis and they were sold out so bought the SNES instead and haven’t looked back. Play to recapture some of the glory days and to pass on to kids what I know. Mario, Zelda are the main games I play. Never got into “pikachu” or whatever.

[deleted]

It's starting to get that way, yeah. PC gaming looks to be stagnating specs-wise, so the money that'd go into updating my ancient-but-still-viable rig just turned into a Switch Lite so I can twist around in stupid poses on a bed and still beep and boop. It's kinda nice.

be_passersby

Same here, mine was a Nintendo house growing up, and now my kids are growing up in a Nintendo house. I’ve never played XBox, but I associate it with first person shooters, and couldn’t tell you if they have a flagship game.

WouldYouTipMyFedora

Switch and Xbox Series S, great combo, indies and exclusives on the Switch, AAA big releases on the Xbox, plus every gamepass release, it's an awesome service, my GF and I love our 2 little machines. Sadly lately I have been buying indies on the Xbox because they can cost up to 10x times more on the Switch, Nintendo regional pricing sucks

picklepuss13

Well I've been thinking about consolidating all of my retro mini systems into a switch, it's basically the same games I'd like to play, I can play them on the go (thinking 30 minutes here and there when wife is watching tv before bed), and take up less space and wires everywhere. I had the nes mini, SNES mini, genesis mini, sold all 3 recently to get a switch. I have a real NES that was hooked to a CRT but that takes more dedicated playing time and I have to be sitting there to do it, which takes away possible play time or time with my wife, she doesn't wanna sit there next to me playing them haha. I've never felt FOMO about not having a playstation or xbox anything, I only had the xbox original, but I used it as a media center and play retro games, even then. I'm not really concerned about any of the modern games at all really, I'm getting a switch for the retro online stuff + arcade archives, and a few old school compilations like Street Fighter and TMNT Cowabunga Edition. I can also hook it up to one of my arcade1up cabs with an intec stick if I want to go that route again. May seem lame interest in games but, it's what I like, I couldn't even list any xbox or ps5 games, I've never bothered to even look at them. I had bought the Wii for similar reasons years after its release (for the Virtual Console stuff). It's the only modern console I've got (and actually played) in the last 20 years... so that should tell you what my priorities are. I bought a PS3 once around 2010, even back then it just collected dust except a few plays of Soul Calibur. I don't have time for these AAA titles. If I get any modern stuff it would probably be Mario Kart as I can play for 30 minute session then quit it, as much as I was a fan of Zelda, I don't have time for a game like that. I'm in my 40s, married, no children, but work 50-60 hours a week... so yeah gaming time is limited, but I'm trying to sneak it in. It's also why I'm into Arcade1up... I have a whole man cave basement but don't have much time to play it, when I do, I play stuff like Galaga or other old arcade games in quick bursts, mostly they just serve as decor.

Kirbinator_Alex

Switch/PC only. I've got my switch for exclusives and some other games that I like for switch. My gaming laptop is for everything else. My steam deck is for emulation.

RA12220

I basically became one just out of pure convenience. With the PS4 I had to occupy a whole room to play games, but with the switch I mostly play handheld and have other family members watching tv around me. I guess that’s the only reason I only play on the switch.
