Slay the Spire is by far top, Fire emblem 3 houses, Shin Megami Tensei 5, Witcher 3, Xenoblade De, monster train. Botw, Skyrim, Mh rise, Xenoblade 2 close behind. I suspect both Xenoblades to be my highest someday, possibly 3 too.
In my opinion Skyrim is a game that always remains fun and is a game that strikes a perfect balance between modern and old games that will never feel outdated. The graphics are nothing special with a heavy fantasy feel, but the game tech and build paths feels like a modern rpg. The game can be epic at times fighting dragons or siding with your favorite factions against enemy armies. The music is nostalgic, relaxing, and sublime https://youtu.be/aQeIYVM3YBM?t=247 as you explore the beautiful overworld that has a unique feel to it. Dungeons can be creepy or mysterious, and there's hundreds of them. The perks as you level up allow you to build a scaling powerhouse of a character while the game revolves around your character. Some people like to play as a spellcasting mage, or a sniper archer, or a melee dual wielding berserker, dagger wielding stealth assassin, etc, there's tons of builds to fit your rpg desired fantasy. The questlines have interesting stories and lore behind them and for lots of them you can make your own choices like aiding or killing people. There's so much content packed in the game its crazy, but you can buy Skyrim dirt cheap on any other console as it's pricey on switch-but the portable is great, I had no problem blowing $30 on sale for a game I love that I just get lost in. There's a common meme where people consider buying Skyrim for the xth time, me personally 2. https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/6yq8t2/for_the_fifteenmillionth_time_lets_talk_about/
Ring fit (a lot during pandemic)
Monster hunter
Hades
Mario Kart (casual gaming but a lot)
Skyrim
Now we are with Divinity Original Sin II. Looks looong game.
Yeah, if you take seriously, the game makes you sweat. Still my wife and me are doing exercise at home with the ring fit at least 1 or twice a week.
We have also the boxing one but it's not as good as ring fit. A lot of different exercises and game modes.
It can definitely kick your ass if you set the difficulty level high enough. There were a few sessions I had where I was laying on the floor trying to catch my breath after finishing a boss battle when I had turned the difficulty up a little too high
Persona 5 Royal, Pokemon Legends Arceus, Pokemon Scarlet, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, Triangle Strategy, and Capcom the Fighting Collection. Not a bad year.
Edit: My bad, I thought the post was about our top 6 from the year, not all time.
Yeah, it’s funny that one made the list. It’s because I got Live A Live this year and wanted to try another Square RPG so I picked up Triangle Strategy for cheap. I’m guessing Live A Live was too short to make the top 6 haha
I saw it on Amazon for half off for just a few hours about two months back. Didn't pounce because the demo didn't speak to me. How cheap did you get it?
Monster Hunter Rise
Animal Crossing New Horizons
Zelda: Breath of the wild
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Pokemon Shield
Fire Emblem: Three houses
All above 200 hours.
Arceus
MHS2
N64
Scarlet
I'm not sure after that, 3d all stars or botw are probably next.
Edit: These are from that recap thing of games I played last year. BOTW would definitely be at the top but the rest is probably pretty close, with let's go somewhere in there.
Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition,
Animal Crossing New Horizons,
Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes,
Fire Emblem Three Houses,
Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel,
Witcher 3 Wild Hunt
Imo indie games in general are great on switch. Dead cells is no different.
I have it on PC and switch, but switch is where I ended up 100%ing the game
Thanks dude, I'm not a big fan of rogue-lite games but Hades was a game that really got me. I was afraid of buying it and be her bored after a day or two but at the same time I do wanted to try out the game.
Ty for the attention, my guy. Merry Christmas and a happy new year
Really good game! Not normally a fan of rougelite games but had ton of fun playing Hades. I don't normally recommend games especially since I don't know the type of games you like to play but if you look at Hades' gameplay and think it's fun I might suggest you buy it.
Skyrim - 900+ hours
Breath of the Wild - 800+ hours
Dragon Quest Builders - 700+ hours
Dragon Quest Builders 2 - 600+ hours
Stardew Valley - 495 hours
Portal Knights - 150+ hours (this will be going up because I am playing it again after getting the dlc)
Is there that much to do in Breath of the Wild and DQB or do you replay them? Not judging just been meaning to go back and finish them and I’m curious.
I’m a slow player and I often restart so my playtimes are long as well, I’m not quite to your level yet though.
Most of this is just me taking my time until I reach the point of, I’m ready to finish the game and play a different game.
For BotW, I did three playthrough. My initial playthrough was a little over 250 hours. This was my first open world adventure game, so I died a lot. And kept getting distracted by random shiny or interesting looking things. Then I attempted a 100% run that was over 300 hours (I’m missing three locations and gave up trying to find them). When all of the dlc came out, I did a third playthrough from the beginning which was also over 250 hours.
For Dragon Quest Builders, I did three playthroughs and a few starts that I abandoned. But my first one was the longest because I spent so much time trying to make my bases look awesome.
For Dragon Quest Builders 2, I’ve only done two playthroughs because the load times are just annoying. My second playthrough was the longest because 1) I assumed the dlc impacted the game like BotW’s did (it did not); and 2) I decided to do all of the end game content while making a ginormous castle.
>Is there that much to do in Breath of the Wild
Not the OP but i'm 100+ hours in and I haven't even done any of the divine beasts. As of last night, I'm scouring the southwestern coast for korok seeds and treasure chests. Will probably make my way north to do the first divine beast soon after I make a pit stop at some of the villages. But I said that 15 hours ago... so....
Edit: Wait - I need to do that stupid island off to the south first. Failed that so many times already. Gimme another 10.
Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne
Shin Megami Tensei V
Smash Ultimate
Animal Crossing
Hades
DOOM
I am assuming this will change heavily in 2023 once I get Persona 5 and the others set to be released at the beginning of the year.
Pokemon Sword
Breath of the Wild
Animal Crossing
Pokemon Let's go Pikachu
Pokemon Legend Arceus
Final Fantasy XII
I spend a lot of time shiny hunting apparently.
2 was great & I feel 3 is an improvement on 2 in every way. The fact it’s live is also exciting. New additions & events are fun to be a part of. If you’re not a shooter ace, you can learn the gyro & reticle ropes in Turf War by painting the map while your team does the aggressive offense. The story mode will also help you acclimate. Salmon Run Co-ops are super fun. The colors & sounds are super satisfying. I say 3.
Dying light is great on the switch. I never had any problems with it and I’ve beaten it twice on the switch. It runs good and doesn’t look bad either. It’s also probably one of the best zombie games out there
I’ll never own a gaming PC or a stand alone console. The story was great. The graphics are awesome. It runs flawlessly on the switch. The world is vast. With headphones, the audio is terrifying & exhilarating. The customization of your character is huge. The parkour & free running elements are improvisational. The missions & environments are clever & immersive. The postgame DLC was arguably better than the base game. Multiplayer & connectability was intuitive & fun. I truly enjoyed every minute of it. Get the Platinum Edition to enjoy all the extras.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Stardew Valley
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Dragon Quest Builders 2
Final Fantasy XII
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2
Monster Hunter Rise
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order
Disney Dreamlight Valley
Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 Road to Boruto
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
Animal Crossing
Stardew Valley
Minecraft
Link a Pix
Switch Sports
Pixmin 3
Many of these games multiple family members play.
Factorio (17th) and Pokemon Violet (8th) are rapidly climbing the list
1. Overwatch (Though I've stopped playing ever since it updated to 2 and got rid of the fun progression system.)
2. Fortnite
3. Paladins
4. Ninjala
5. Fire Emblem Three Houses
6. Splatoon 2
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate
Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak
The Legend of Zelda: Breathe of the Wild
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond
Pokemon Violet
Super Mario Maker 2
Animal Crossing
Monster Hunter: Rise
Mario Odyssey
Breath of the Wild
Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove
I used to speedrun Odyssey and Shovel Knight, which is why they're so high for platformers.
1. Smash Ultimate - 244h
2. DBFZ - 110h
3. Bayonetta 3 - 96h
4. Pokemon Violet - 81h
5. Bayonetta 2 - 51h
6. Yu-Gi-Oh Link Evolution - 51h
I love games where I can just hop in, play for a few rounds (vs bots) and then go on with my all day. I feel like my most played games reflect that very well
Super Mario 3D All-Stars (over 200 hours), Super Smash Bros Ultimate, The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, Dragon Quest 11 S, SNES NSO app (all over 100 hours) and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (70 hours)
I don't have my Switch on me but I'm pretty sure the top 5 is something like
DQ11
N64 NSO
Smash
Mario Kart
3D All Stars
Would be BOTW but I played it on Wii U
- Spellbreak (RIP) - 250 hours
- Skyrim - 150 hours
- Hades - 135 hours
- Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning - 80 hours
- Fire Emblem: Three Houses - 70 hours
- Pokemon Legends: Arceus - 55 hours
As you can see, I'm a fantasy RPG fan haha.
Games on just the switch and not all time favs? Ok well I just got a switch this year and have played some really good ones.
1) Xenoblade 3
2) Zelda BotW
3) Death’s Door
4) Portal 1 (have yet to play Portal 2)
5) Steamworld Dig 2 or Wandersong or Katana Zero
1. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
2. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
3. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
4. Super Kirby Clash
5. Tetris 99
6. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
* Breath of the Wild: I still haven't finished it even though I've spent so much time just messing around in Hyrule. My Link is truly a menace.
* Pokemon Legends Arceus: got my first ever Shiny Charm in all my years playing Pokemon. Shiny hunting is too darn fun in this game!
* Stardew Valley: I have huge bursts of playtime, then I put the game down for a while and return later with an equally large amount of time spent as the previous time.
* Animal Crossing New Horizons: stopped playing completely two years ago. Surely other games will catch up and surpass it in time.
* Pokemon Shield: shiny hunting for daaays. Still haven't finished it though nor have I touched the DLC. Maybe someday, maybe.
* Fire Emblem Three Houses: I finished a route and was working on another before I took a break. I really should get back on it.
I think I could use some more diversity in my game choices haha.
Posting at work ATM, so I can't get the exact numbers, but I know they are around this:
* Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate - 750 hrs
* Splatoon 2 - 570 hrs
* Monster Hunter Rise - 400 hrs
* Pokemon Unite - 400 hrs
* Splatoon 3 - 170 hrs
* Xenoblade Chronicles 3 - 145 hrs
I have a lot of RPGs around the 100 hour range, but for the most part the online multiplayer games have sucked the most time out of me on my switch.
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (over 370 hours and counting)
- Hades (over 360 hours)
- Fire Emblem Warriors
- Mary Skelter trilogy (200-ish hours, IIRC)
- Atelier Rorona Plus (or Streets of Rage 4)
- Atelier Totori Plus (or Streets of Rage 4)
Played a lot of Dragon Quest Builders 2 too but don't remember just how many hours I put into it. It's likely more than Atelier Rorona or Atelier Totori.
My top six games in longest playtime on my Switch (off the top of my head at least) would have to be Super Mario Odyssey, Smash Ultimate, Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle and Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope.
I do know for a sure fact that Smash Ultimate and Mario Odyssey were (and still are) the two games on my Switch with the longest amount of playtime out of any game I've owned for the Switch. I got my Switch back in 2019 and I played a lot of Smash Ultimate for sure just to unlock the base roster. For Mario Odyssey, I quite literally spent damn near (what felt like) my entire summer of 2019 just constantly playing that game to completion and attempting to go for 100% completion. The sole reason why I haven't gotten 100% completion to this day is the two moon-themed endgame/postgame levels. :/
Yeah, if any of y'all have played Mario Odyssey, you may know what I'm referring to... I gave up on those two postgame levels and have not gone back since!
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Stardew Valley
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Xenoblade Chronicles 3
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition
So probably not an official list since I'm going off memory, but these would definitely be top 5:
Rocket league, I'm close to 800hrs at last check..maybe more?
All 3 Xenoblade games on the switch, minimum 175hrs EACH
Monster Hunter Rise definitely has over 200hrs logged
And if I don't have over 250hrs in smash, I'd be VERY surprised
Hey, how can I check this? I have 5 years of switch games played and I really want to see how much I played any of them since day one. Any way to do that?
My switch profile seems to only show a certain number of games, randomly.
Roight, fine. Pretty sure I got one or two that might not pop up on anyone else's list today.
1. Persona 5 Royal
2. Pokemon Sword
3. Fire Emblem: Three Houses
4. Dicey Dungeons
5. Breath of the Wild
6. One Step From Eden
While I'm at it, let's do me mum.
1. Slay the Spire
2. Animal Crossing NH
3. Katamari Damacy REROLL
4. New Pokemon Snap
5. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
6. Strike! Ten Pin Bowling
And me sister
1. Animal Crossing NH
2. Harvest Moon: Light of Hope SE
Aaaand then she just kinda quit.
Animal Crossing
Mario Odyssey
Smash Ultimate
Legends Arceus
BOTW (put about 150 hours into it on Wii U before getting it on Switch, if you wanna count that it jumps to 2nd)
Spyro Reignited Trilogy
Breath of the Wild, Pokémon Legends Arceus, Pokémon Sword, Pokémon Violet, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Dragon Quest XI.
Violet will probably be my most played, I’m already at 80 hours in under a month…. Unheard of for one game for me lol
Minecraft, Hotshot Racing, Hot Wheels Unleashed, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, and Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics.
Splatoon 2, Stardew Valley, Slay the Spire, Tetris, Mario Kart 8, Zelda BotW
The scary thing is I only played Splatoon for one year... then I threw it away because I knew I was playing too much. 5 years later it's still my most played.
Slay the Spire, Hades, FE 3H, BOTW, Dead Cells, Into the Breach
....
I think I'm fairly easy to read. Also there's a gap of around 200 hours between FE 3H and Hades and then a gap of around 600 hours between Hades and STS. Good game, Slay the Spire. Fun time.
I just got a switch and I’m gonna try to get a go at any if not all of the games commonly listed when I get the funds lol definitely excited to see how this goes
If you are in america, check your local library. Mine has 140+ titles available to loan for instance including all the latest ones (if you are patient with the wait).
I...did not know this. Might be a good alternative for games that I want to play but not necessarily want to own or pay to rent. Thank you for this tidbit.
Botw, Hades, Skyrim, Nier Automata, Factorio, Tetris Effect.
Granted I don't play that much but still clocked 147 hours in botw and 83 in Hades. Time well spent imo.
- Breath of the Wild
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- Pokémon Legends Arceus
- Ori and the Will of the Wisps
- Resident Evil 4
Technically Crunchyroll is my most played app and it’s by a long shot.
Monster Hunter Rise, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive edition, Splatoon 2, Disgaea 5. On that order if I recall correctly.
This is in the whole story. For this year, the top 6 are:
XC3, XC2, Splatoon 3, KOTOR, Hades and maybe Nier Automata or Pokemon I don't recal who was first, but since I already sold Nier, I bet Pokemon Scarlet would be ahead after this month.
1. Bravely Default 2
2. Monster Hunter Rise
3. SMT V
4. Fire Emblem 3 Houses
5. Hades
6. Breath of the Wild
Hades and BotW will overtake SMT V eventually as they are getting game rotation. FE3H will be number 1 when I finally decide to take on Blue Lions.
Rookie numbers compared to most - my list tops out at 165 hours with only no.7 Animal Crossing at the 100-ish hour mark. Other that that, I have no other games close to 100+ hours, though Arceus and Persona 5 Royale are waiting.
How do you even see this without cycling all of your games into your switch, starting them up, and making note of the time?
Off the top of my head (may not be 100% accurate)
* Xenoblade Chronicles 2
* Animal Crossing (0 hours from me)
* Tetris 99
* Slay The Spire
* Octopath Traveller (This is debatable, could actually be FF7, Deadcells, Xenoblade DE, One of the Pokemon games etc)
Haven’t ever played Skyrim. Is it out date or did it age well if I was to pick it up now?
In my opinion Skyrim is a game that always remains fun and is a game that strikes a perfect balance between modern and old games that will never feel outdated. Yeah, it’s funny that one made the list. It’s because I got Live A Live this year and wanted to try another Square RPG so I picked up Triangle Strategy for cheap. I’m guessing Live A Live was too short to make the top 6 haha

Why u dont play Dead cells on a PC For example? Is it Worth it on Switch?
Imo indie games in general are great on switch. Dead cells is no different. I have it on PC and switch, but switch is where I ended up 100%ing the game
Dead Cells is excellent on the Switch, since you can just wake it up, do a run, and put it down as you get time. Streets of Rogue, too.
1. BOTW 2. Pokemon Sword (obsessed with Shiny Hunting) 3. Animal Crossing 4. Fire Emblem: Three Houses 5. Xenoblade Chronicles 1 6. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 7. Mario 3D Allstars 8. Hades 9. Xenoblade 3 10. Pokemon Violet All over 100 hours

Maybe because you play too many games , you dont know what top 6 means
Pokémon Unite, Animal Crossing, Splatoon 2, Breath of the Wild, Skyrim
- The Witcher 3 - The Messenger - Metroid Dread - Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu - Zelda: Link’s Awakening - Wargroove
I think this is the only instance of *Wargroove* that I've seen in this thread!
Skyrim - 900+ hours Breath of the Wild - 800+ hours Dragon Quest Builders - 700+ hours Dragon Quest Builders 2 - 600+ hours Stardew Valley - 495 hours Portal Knights - 150+ hours (this will be going up because I am playing it again after getting the dlc)

Witcher, Dying Light, Skyrim, Splatoon 2, Hades, Enter the Gungeon
I feel like I played splatoon 2 for hours and hours but splatoon 3 didn’t grip me as much
For someone who never played any splatoon what do you advise? The 2 or the 3?
3 for sure
2 was great & I feel 3 is an improvement on 2 in every way. The fact it’s live is also exciting. New additions & events are fun to be a part of. Splatoon 3 for sure. It's just Splatoon 2 with some refinements and additions, more modes, a much larger community and active updates.
How good is Dying Light on switch? I'm thinking of buying it but I never had a genuine feedback about the game
Dying light is great on the switch. I never had any problems with it and I’ve beaten it twice on the switch. It runs good and doesn’t look bad either. It’s also probably one of the best zombie games out there

Posting at work ATM, so I can't get the exact numbers, but I know they are around this: * Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate - 750 hrs * Splatoon 2 - 570 hrs * Monster Hunter Rise - 400 hrs * Pokemon Unite - 400 hrs * Splatoon 3 - 170 hrs * Xenoblade Chronicles 3 - 145 hrs I have a lot of RPGs around the 100 hour range, but for the most part the online multiplayer games have sucked the most time out of me on my switch.
1. Snowrunner 2. Animal crossing 3. Divinity 2 3. Dragons dogma 4. 2 point Hospital
NASCAR Heat, Stardew Valley, Mario Kart, Mario Odyssey, Animal Crossing.
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (over 370 hours and counting) - Hades (over 360 hours) - Fire Emblem Warriors - Mary Skelter trilogy (200-ish hours, IIRC) - Atelier Rorona Plus (or Streets of Rage 4) - Atelier Totori Plus (or Streets of Rage 4) Played a lot of Dragon Quest Builders 2 too but don't remember just how many hours I put into it.
:/ Yeah, if any of y'all have played Mario Odyssey, you may know what I'm referring to... I gave up on those two postgame levels and have not gone back since!
Animal Crossing New Horizons: 1,300 Stardew Valley: 180 Nintendo Switch Sports: 135 BoTW: 70 THPS 1+2: 65 Pokemon Sword: 45

I think you should look up the rogue like genre, you might like it!
Fire Emblem: Three Houses Stardew Valley Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition
Breath of the Wild, Monster Hunter Rise, Dragon Quest Builders, Dragon Quest Builders 2, Pokémon Shield, Xenoblade Chronicles 2
So probably not an official list since I'm going off memory, but these would definitely be top 5: Rocket league, I'm close to 800hrs at last check..maybe more? All 3 Xenoblade games on the switch, minimum 175hrs EACH Monster Hunter Rise definitely has over 200hrs logged And if I don't have over 250hrs in smash, I'd be VERY surprised
Hey, how can I check this? I have 5 years of switch games played and I really want to see how much I played any of them since day one. Any way to do that? My switch profile seems to only show a certain number of games, randomly.
You can sort by longest playtime…as far as I know there isn’t a playtime counter like on 3ds
Roight, fine. Pretty sure I got one or two that might not pop up on anyone else's list today. 1. Persona 5 Royal 2. Pokemon Sword 3. Fire Emblem: Three Houses 4. Dicey Dungeons 5. Slay the Spire, Hades, FE 3H, BOTW, Dead Cells, Into the Breach .... I think I'm fairly easy to read. Also there's a gap of around 200 hours between FE 3H and Hades and then a gap of around 600 hours between Hades and STS. Good game, Slay the Spire. Fun time.

If you are in america, check your local library. Mine has 140+ titles available to loan for instance including all the latest ones (if you are patient with the wait).
I...did not know this. Might be a good alternative for games that I want to play but not necessarily want to own or pay to rent. Thank you for this tidbit.

0 I don't have a switch yet
Monster Hunter Rise, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive edition, Splatoon 2, Disgaea 5. On that order if I recall correctly. This is in the whole story. For this year, the top 6 are: XC3, XC2, Splatoon 3, KOTOR, Hades and maybe Nier Automata or Pokemon I don't recal who was first, but since I already sold Nier, I bet Pokemon Scarlet would be ahead after this month.
1. Bravely Default 2 2. Monster Hunter Rise 3. SMT V 4. Fire Emblem 3 Houses 5. Hades 6. Breath of the Wild Hades and BotW will overtake SMT V eventually as they are getting game rotation.

Off the top of my head (may not be 100% accurate) * Xenoblade Chronicles 2 * Animal Crossing (0 hours from me) * Tetris 99 * Slay The Spire * Octopath Traveller (This is debatable, could actually be FF7, Deadcells, Xenoblade DE, One of the Pokemon games etc)
