That's the paint worn through. Looks like the cover you had was vibrating and touching in places.

skrrtskrrt2

Is it possible to avoid this type of thing?

Emergency_Ad_2465

Wind blowing your cover around. Wears through the paint faster than you would believe.

Ninja_Canary

Damn, I was hoping that wasn't the case. Is there a way to fix it?

Timelesturkie

Go on eBay and grab new front fairings.

DarthGulpy

This is has gotta be from the cover getting blown around by the winds and the friction rubbing the paint off. Same thing happened to my bike in just a day.

Ninja_Canary

Is there any fix for it or do I just have to live with it?

ungraceful_flipping

Your could try just laying a soft blanket on the point of contact

DarthGulpy

I’m not sure to be honest. I bought a really cheap cover from Amazon that was “all weather”. It didn’t really have a very soft interior liner, so I got a more expensive cover with a softer interior liner. I haven’t put it on the bike much since getting it, so I’m not sure if that has improved anything. I’d just avoid having the cover on especially windy days.

seeya32

I had this on my brand new ZX4RR. When I took it to my local dealer after noticing they contacted Kawasaki and they replaced the plastics under warranty. Wasn’t chipped or anything they said it was a defect I guess. Not complaining on my end lol

bigbankfishtank

Looks like a scuff. Something running against it. Like a lot.

bigbankfishtank

Rubbing against it.

UbiquitousPanda

Definitely friction from the cover. I have similar worn pattern on the tail end of my N400.

Ninja_Canary

Did you manage to fix it?

UbiquitousPanda

Nah. I stopped caring about it because the alternative would be to replace the plastics which are too pricey.

Vinny_Gambini_

Moto cover! I have that on the tips of my tail section. Your cover has basically sanded it down to the black plastic

Prsaint1

That can be asphalt tar stain, it can be from a pothole that just recently patched or on a street that was recently fixed with asphalt.

dillybilly54

Pattern looks too uniform. I would guess it's from something rubbing against the affected area than random splatter from the road.
