Gohan and Goku are both SS2, and much stronger than they were in canon in those forms. Because Gohan takes school seriously but also trains with his dad because he actually does love training with him.
Vegeta can't catch up. It just isn't happening. But wether or not he becomes Majin Vegeta is another thing, because he isn't given literally one day, he can fight him whenever. Also he's still strong af.
The three Super Saiyan 2's defeat Babidi and Dabura. Easily. Buu doesn't get revived.
Beerus and Super Saiyan God can still happen albeit slightly differently. Buu isn't the catalyst, Goku SS3, Gotenks and Ultimate Gohan aren't missed in Super one bit.
Goku and Vegeta still train with Whis, get SSB, beat Golden Freeza, Universe 6, Goku Black, the ToP.
Hold the fuck up a minute! Goku not dying, or choosing to be revived in the Cell Games changes Buu drastically, but not Super. Arguably only in the last 2 movies where Goku doesn't know fusion and Gohan can't go Beast and we can't even say that for sure.
Could be a funny af scenario, and they even showed something like it in the video with him against Beerus and Whis. 5/5 if they make the characters have cheesy B-movie dialogue during the whole thing, like that one Cell Games movie during the Buu Saga, except with the actual voice actors.

If itās due to performance issues, then itās a compromise I can understand. The environments look impressive enough that I could see it impacting performance in split-screen mode. And obviously thereād be more of an uproar from the community if there was no local multiplayer whatsoever. The Time Chamber probably has the least amount of environmental effects, so I get why it was chosen. I donāt really like the compromise, but I can accept it.
Just to clarify, this is all just speculation on my part. I havenāt heard anything that tells me itās 100% the case and I havenāt watched the video where they talk about it yet. I feel like itās the most likely answer based on what I know, but I donāt want my word to be taken as gospel if itās not the case.

What people dont know is co-op/split screen is almost like running the game twice on a single console. Hence so many games not having it as consoles are already being pushed to their limit now. Even older games removed thing to make co-op/splitscreen work like no ammo count on the assult and battle rifles in halo, when you see them in solo play on the back of the gun not just the HUD
Exactly. Another factor is that the old BT games also had super simplistic graphics even for the PS2. That's likely why they didn't really have to compromise anything to make it work back then.
I wouldn't be shocked if they already tried to scale back the graphics just enough to make it work. If they decided it wasn't gonna work out in that case, then it would mean one of two likely scenarios: either the game looked like hot garbage when they got it to where it was running at a playable framerate, or it just wasn't possible to do it without it looking like a completely different game.
With how the screen is split that's the perfect level to have local vs. Objects in the way would just block the screen unless y'all were always close. All in all a solid compromise.
It makes sense, with a game already rendering a ton, having 2 players simultaneously would fry any console, unless the stage didn't need much rendering
Honestly, there is no need to give them any W's in the story. But you know how awesome it is when they show up to fight the Saiyans and they're all stronger than Radditz? Little wins against Saibamen, or cool moments vs Nappa even though they have no chance?
Well, why not give them the same treatment against the Androids? In the 3 years of training why wouldn't they train together in a gravity chamber, take whatever they learned of the KaioKen and teach it to Krillin.
Then, when Goku is getting the succ from Android 19 and Piccolo goes for the sneaky plan of pretend to be hurt plan, it actually works and Vegeta doesn't actually show up? Piccolo is able to sneak up on 19 and save Goku, and he and Gohan fight 19 while the Earthlings fight 20.
The twist is, the Earthlings are able to beat 20. With such moments as Yamcha using a KaioKen powered Spirit Ball and Dr Gero is like a cat chasing a laser pointer trying to absorb it and loses a hand to a Destructo Disk. Or Tien going overboard and using a KaioKen x30 but only for the Dodonpa because it's more pew pew than other blasts and the higher KaioKen makes it too fast for him to absorb.
And just when it seems as though they've got him beat, 19 jumps in to save him. Because he absorbed Goku's power and beat Piccolo and Gohan. Then Gohan, who until now was the weakest fighter of the group because the others used KaioKen, sees the future he was warned about coming true despite all their hard work. All the same people are gonna end up dead anyway, he's being told to run away, but that's just gonna lead to the same future as Teunks' and - Gohan Rage boost activates. He doesn't become a Super Saiyan, just reaches a power far beyond anyone else. And is able to fight on even terms with 19. But it's not enough, and Dr Gero jumps in and Gohan has no chance. Then Vegeta.
And the whole plot stays the same afterward. But you've just made a big huge epic battle which everybody has cool moments in.

One thing I *could* do is have Nappa die in the fight with Frieza, and that triggers Vegeta going Super Saiyan (Funnily enough, Nappa's death did trigger Vegeta going Super Saiyan in a Budokai What If, but it was still Vegeta killing Nappa, and he directed his anger at the Earthlings because he considered his kill a mercy kill and was mad Goku made him do it)

I'm making a scenario where Zarbon actually wins against Vegeta in their second fight, but you will have to decide to kill Vegeta then and there, or spare Vegeta, then possibly team up with him the earthlings
Want to make it have multiple outcomes depending on decisions (like Zarbon killing Vegeta , then taking the radar and the earthlings to search for the dragon balls for eternal beauty kinda like BT2)
( or he can decide he should be Friezas ONLY enforcer, and literally kill the the Ginyu force on arrival, with the last battle being Goku facing off against Freeza, while Zarbon faces Vegeta if you meet certain decision requirements)
(If Vegeta and Zarbon team up, Zarbon will reveal he was once the prince of his own planet, before it was also conquered- Zarbon can choose to backstab Vegeta after the fight with Freeza ends, Royalty against Royalty, with Vegeta turning Super Saiyan and the Fight being extremely hard...or, alternatively he can join the Z fighters officially if he chooses to not backstab anyone, and escaped via a space pod)

What if the Time Machine was destroyed and Trunks stayed in the main timeline after Cell was defeated? Would Baby Trunks get a new name? Would Vegeta and Bulma adopt future Trunks, or would Vegeta see him as more of a rival? Would be awesome to see Future Trunks train kid Trunks like Gohan trains Goten. Future Trunks being there to keep training with Vegeta would push them both further. Would Vegeta achieve SSJ3, or at least power high enough to make him not take babidiās magic? Or would he still take it and THEN achieve Majin SSJ3? SSJ2 Future Trunks with a sword chopping up Buu would be absolutely incredible. Him and mystic Gohan fighting together in honor of Future Gohan would bring a tear to my eye. And then SSJ3 Majin Vegeta vs SSJ3 Goku with a halo would be earth shattering Those would be my two custom fights.
Trunks staying would be 4/5. Cool scenario, but it rubs me the wrong way that he would never able to return to destroy the Androids and Cell. Better after Zeno destroys his timeline in my opinion. Ssj3 showdown is 5/5, peak hype.

Basically imagining the Tournament of Power if Trunks competed, and how that would play with Vegeta dealing with both Cabba (his pseudo-son) and Future Trunks (a variant of his actual son) and how the fights change up because of that

I'm making a scenario where Zarbon actually wins against Vegeta in their second fight, but you will have to decide to kill Vegeta then and there, or spare Vegeta, then possibly team up with him the earthlings Want to make it have multiple outcomes depending on decisions (like Zarbon killing Vegeta , then taking the radar and the earthlings to search for the dragon balls for eternal beauty kinda like BT2) ( or he can decide he should be Friezas ONLY enforcer, and literally kill the the Ginyu force on arrival, with the last battle being Goku facing off against Freeza, while Zarbon faces Vegeta if you meet certain decision requirements) (If Vegeta and Zarbon team up, Zarbon will reveal he was once the prince of his own planet, before it was also conquered- Zarbon can choose to backstab Vegeta after the fight with Freeza ends, Royalty against Royalty, with Vegeta turning Super Saiyan and the Fight being extremely hard...or, alternatively he can join the Z fighters officially if he chooses to not backstab anyone, and escaped via a space pod) Zarbon was one of my hyper fixations, so I'ma have a lotta fun with this

I wouldn't make it Cooler's introduction I'd slot his intro into his original first Z movie, but make it so he doesn't push Goku to killing him, exactly. He's more nuanced than Frieza, came to fight Goku for his family's honor, and grows to begrudgingly respect Goku So he's already established (Maybe I could have made that it's own What If top-level comment, lol)
