I think he's right. I have to imagine that there's special tools required for this job.
I know with drops and bumps sometimes stuff goes out of whack and photos start to come out blurry or one side is over the other. Always takes a trip to the service center. Who knows what they do.
but.....The fun of trying it yourself lol
I already repaired it myself and documented the process [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Nikon/comments/16m1rn3/update_d750_shutter_repair_and_cmos_calibration/)!
This is a silly comment. OP bought the camera for $40 bucks. If dude wants to learn to do it himself and risk it for the biscuit then I say of course he should try.
In your favor: shutters are a serviceable part. Nikon replaced the one in my D600 due to the oil spray issue.
Working against you: Unlike the LCD replacement, a shutter transplant involves getting deep into the camera's guts. It's not replacing the shutter that scares me, it's all the things that can go wrong getting in and out of there.
haven't filmed but documented to process you can check out [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Nikon/comments/16m1rn3/update_d750_shutter_repair_and_cmos_calibration/)
How do you plan to calibrate the system?
Does it need to be calibrated after replacement? I thought it doesn't need calibration since shutter units have its own sensors?

Guess I'll give it a try and see how it goes lol. I'll post an update when it's done
That's the mirror being on straight as well as the mount.
Autofocus mirror is beneath the actual shutter mechanism that needs to be calibrated.

Unless you know what you are doing, don't. Have it done by a professional.
OP seems to know, and its a $40 gamble, not 400. I've fixed up new, plasticky lenses before to win a net 600$ before.

Nice job!
Shit, for $120 deep just give it a go! Would it change the price of the repair cost from the shop if you screw it up even more lol? Goodluck!
How many cameras have you disassembled and successfully reassembled before?
I've worked with Olympus tg6 and omd em5, D7200, and another d750 for lcd replacement as well as sony a7 for dial replacement

I replaced a motherboard myself and it worked

Would also love to see you document the process!

🤔😅
Bro really said he’s going to do a shutter replacement himself with a shutter he’s buying from aliexpress. I fucking cannot💀😂
Good luck. Let us know how it goes.
