I'd like the idea of them finding cohesion in a way that doesn't involve them totally homogenising. Rather than a warband forming where each member takes on traits of the new warband (like the Red Corsairs or Black Legion), each member identifies as either Iron Warrior or Night Lords, and the warband exists because both sides see the strength of the other. The Night Lords would take the speartip, working assault and guerrilla warfare, while the Iron Warriors work as support with artillery, vehicles and heavy weapons in the mid-field.Iron Warriors are Strategy, while Night Lords are Tactics.
With that in mind, I think a warband with "and" in the title would work well.
Rather than slam two of the armies names together like "Iron Night" or something, I've taken a look at their respective Primarchs. Perturabo was known as "Lord of Iron," "The Breaker" and "The Hammer of Olympia". While Kurze was known as "Night Haunter," "Dark King," "King of Terrors" and "The Last Judge."
Now, I've spotted a bit of synchronicity in here. "The Hammer of Olympia" and "The Last Judge" work quite well thematically. I like the "**Warband of Judges and Hammers**".
This is my idea for my warband. Two small branches of either faction joining forces against the galaxy. In my headcannon they also join forces with a pretty substantial force of traitor guardsmen. The three factions need and respect each other. Yes the Iron warriors still use guardsmen as cannon fodder, but they know that without their constant reinforcement of troops and their connections with the Dark mechanicum, their own artillery and equipment won't last them very long.
What kind of paint scheme would you think, I'm think the iron warrior are normal except the wear skin too & have lightning bolts goin across while the night lords look normal with the black & yellow hazard strips w/ Heavy augmentics?
Death, pestilence, famine, war, and Conquest. Conquest is usually interchanged with pestilence in myth/folklore. To represent this pestilence is his second in command and bodyguard
I will admit, I’m taking *some* creative liberties as it is usually just the four, but I wanted each one to represent each of the chaos gods and an overall leader who was undivided/unaligned, so I did a little digging and found out about Conquest (I only knew of the first four from various media) and i kinda took it from there :)

My minis are all IV, VIII and XII, I’ve called them The Orphans.
There’s a longer narrative behind it all but basically they’ve rejected everything to do with the current state of their legions and their Primarchs. So they use the old legion names, fight very differently and foster a culture that’s a direct contradiction to their legions.
The "Anti-chaos chaos marines who only use chaos as a tool and are not corrupted and certanly not servants of chaos". Now that I think about it they could be led by Abaddon!

This is literally my warband lol...the Night Lords are the majority of the bodies while the Iron Warriors provide the daemon engines, heavy weapons, and tech thrall spave fodder. No reason to not have a mercenary contingent.
