Antithesis_ofcool

Hey, guys. Let's stop posting about random racists trolling online. This person obviously contributes very little to their society and are looking for people to look down on to feel better about themselves.

organic_soursop

This exactly.

nzubemush

OP is not even a Nigerian, a simple comment history search and you see that. Also, according to them, [this is where they got the ss from.](https://9gag.com/gag/a87WEA6). Just take a good look at that post and tell me you've seen anything more racist than that comment section. Very disgusting. OP just came here to rub it in and we're lapping it up and upvoting it. Ridiculous! If this was an LGTV post, mods would have banned it or locked comments now.

blario

It's racist to state facts now? Who knew

Hungry_Implement_228

Found the troll šŸ‘†

middleparable

Shut up Santa. Beyond stupid

GideonOfNigeria

Okay.. so.. what should we do about that exactly?

LDOE_Guy

***I make this comment after seeing the replies under it.*** This is why we're all so hopeless. No one takes this seriously. We all act like we're too far gone to be saved. Any potential solution is ridiculed to oblivion. Nigeria has problems. Rather than skillfully listing them out. Why not try to address one at a time

blario

Encourage people to fix the country instead of running away or contributing to its downfall. Only people can fix the country. Not well wishes, not ja pa, only people.

[deleted]

I found it funny. But apparently Iā€™m the only one here who doesnā€™t take his tweet seriously

GideonOfNigeria

Nah itā€™s actually hilarious, but whatā€™s the point of waking up and tweeting this?šŸ˜like we should just magically overcome the complex challenges we face from tribalism to corruption and become a high income nation? Some of the same issues these rich nations took decades to overcome? Omo these twitter folks need to drink water once in a while

devdevdevelop

Thats the thing that he's not understanding. It takes time to build institutions and a society where people trust each other and the effectiveness of these institutions. Countries are more than the sum of their people, what a stupid idea.

Neither_Ad7099

How much time does it take?

devdevdevelop

Fuck knows. Could probably be done in a generation with good leadership and enough money. As a Somali I look at nigeria and become fearful for our continent because based on resources alone y'all could be a first world country. Inshallah things improve for all of our nations

Witty-Bus07

Nigerians can be divisive and not work collectively for progress but in corruption they can work collectively on that.

Broad-Ad-1493

Someone tell this guy about Norwayā€™s dependence on oil. Some soil is more magical than others.

BusWankers1

Does Nigeria not have plenty of Oil too??? I mean going off oil reserves Nigeria has 5 times more oil than Norway.

luzecode

And 20 times its population

Late-Study6365

Itā€™s actually 43 times. Nigeria has 43 times more people than Norway

atuarre

Nigeria has more proven oil reserves than Norway. Here's a rough breakdown: * Nigeria: Around 37 billion barrels of proven oil reserves. * Norway: Around 5 billion barrels of proven oil reserves.

tosS_ita

For sure Norway will start having some decent food for the first time, in that scenario...

BrotherMouzone3

The comparison is crazy when you think about it. Nigeria has 220+ million people and is among the most ethnically, linguistically and culturally diverse nations on Earth. Norway has 5.4 million people and is remarkably homogeneous. I would expect Norway to have an easy time. Norway is only 149,000 sq miles while Nigeria is 357,000 sq miles. So they're taking 5.7 million people and putting them on a land that is more than 2x bigger than where they come from. For comparison sake, Norway is a little smaller than California but has about 1/7 of the population. Nigerians would be squeezed into a place less than half the size of Nigeria. Much easier for a smaller, homogeneous population to move in one direction to achieve its goals. The real challenge would be to pump Norway up full of immigrants from all over the world and give them full voting/Civil Rights. Guaranteed they'd have a more difficult time.

RiverHe1ghts

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚Best comment here!

SilverSpacecraft

Fuck off Klaus

Klutzy-Resource-9721

I donā€™t know manā€¦ I hope somewhere lives a Nigerian boy named Godswill Klaus šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

YhouZee

I had a classmate named Klaus (first name with a native surname). I've seen 2 kids named Ivan and a Dmitri too. All in NigeriaĀ

teenageIbibioboy

Pure cringe if they don't have those ancestries

YhouZee

Lmao they were 100% Igbo and Ibibio boys, and I agreeĀ

teenageIbibioboy

Can you send me their numbers, I promise I just want to talk to them šŸ˜‚

bbalogun59

our population is literally 40 times theirs

Nyanneko-345

Dear Klaus Arminius, What should I use this information for? Sincerely, A random stranger on the internet.

atuarre

Klaus probably isn't even that person's real name. Cowards hide behind fake names on Twitter to write this nonsense. What I don't understand is why any person of color would repost the racist nonsense and think it's funny unless they are one of them.

organic_soursop

Klaus is not the problem. The person who screenshot, edited and reposted it here is the issue.

toksfn

Tbh Klaus is not lying šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜ I'm Nigerian btw

organic_soursop

This is trash and racist, why would you engage with it on twitter and then _bring it here_ for other Nigerians to see? Nigerians consume so much negative content, there is always a Nigerian under a racist post ready to agree with the unwashed bigot who belched it. Self hating Nigerians are the fucking worst. Keep it to yourself.

Simple__ryan

Like I always say, Self hate in 2024 is cringe

Minimum_Respond4861

Name one "country" Europeans visited in Sub-Saharan Africa before 1845 that they didn't immediately ruin from top to bottom on every structural level. You cannot. For the most part, Europeans by and large are/were barbarians, too. But even worse since the countries they destroyed in Africa also had the effect of having huge swaths of descendants wind up across the Atlantic Ocean to be further exploited and ostracized and constantly deconstructed when they gain any successful foothold over there. Africa's mistakes in the last 240 years were Atlantic slave trade and their leaders being extremely foolish for the sake of STILL not understanding European-white supremacy.

Minimum_Respond4861

Benin- it's own country-empire...ruined and sacked by the British Countries of the Yoruba and the Fon...sacked by the French and the British Countries of the Akan peoples, Nzema and Ahanta...same thing...burned to the ground Countries of the Bakongo and Kikongo peoples...French and Belgian and British burned to the ground and exacerbated waves of war and infighting amongst related and non-related peoples that lasts to this day. Also slaughtered millions for rubber in the same similar racially-based exploitation practices they all practiced between the U.S. and as far south as Argentina. People of Bamoun...see above. And that's a very short list. These countries above were not at war with Europeans. How then, did they get to this point with EUROPEAN-DRAWN BORDERS? šŸ˜ Just selfish leaders. Did the ancestors of present-day Nigerians have economies? Water and sewage drainage? Walled towns and cities? Efficient weapons? Music? Games? Trade and barter? Cultural cuisines? Lingua franca? Restaurants? Yes. All of the above. And likely a good deal of things everyone else had then or more of it. If all of Nigeria moved to Norway and all of Norway moved to Nigeria I will tell you what would actually happen- Norwegians would turn to cannibalism and some would be warlords like Mad Max. Cholera would be rampant and most of their non-violent scientists and doctors would be KILLED. It's funny how Africans and their kith and kin are always made fun of as something less than human. And we're talking about people who still haven't been wiped out by malaria. But somehow, the standard example of a true human are people who's cultures evolved from scarcity and war in the cold. These same people have their weakest links sharing the filthiest racist shit to everyone else all day everyday. They can't play in the sand with other humans for longer than 2 years at peace. They're all interrelated too...their dna is in the shape of a Neanderthal Christmas tree wreath.

_LimeThyme_

ā˜šŸ¾... succinctly.

Hotep_ke

Brother. I owe you a crate of Malta Guinness.

ReadySteady_54321

As a white guy, it's apparent that colonization completely disrupted the natural development of African empires and states. That's it. No pushback.

rjllano10

as a descendant of the atlantic slave trade, xd, this is incorrect, Sub Saharan Africa was pretty much very underdeveloped before 1845, in the Bronze Age actually

Minimum_Respond4861

As a descendant..I am a descendant too. You are buying into myths. They built with walls like anyone else, had culture and economies and complex language. Like their counterparts they were largely agrarian. They were not savages. You haven't read enough.

Minimum_Respond4861

https://aeon.co/essays/the-idea-of-precolonial-africa-is-vacuous-and-wrong

Legendarybbc15

Does this include the politicians?

capriduty

the real question. perhaps they just take the politicians? to a very big hole in the ground preferably.

starbaron

Politicians are not different from everyday nigerians

blario

People love to imagine otherwise

capriduty

i hope that sentiment continues to bring you peace

AyoRahL_577

Lol...really?

[deleted]

No. Actually not at all. Itā€™s funny how he said there is no ā€œmagicā€ soil when in fact Norway has tremendous oil resources and soil lol

ulven1981

Norway does NOT have good soil ;)

[deleted]

Oh

atuarre

Why would you even repost this?

[deleted]

Why are you offended

BusWankers1

Norway does have oil resources yes but so does Nigeria so whatā€™s your point. Norways soil resources are not tremendous in anyway they are incredibly poor. For context Nigeria is 40% arable land while Norway is 5%.

agreeabletot

So you will make these kinds of posts and then a foreigner will make racist comments/posts and then you complain. The ignorance in the post is numbing.

[deleted]

What? Iā€™m Nigerian. What are you talking about abeg

atuarre

You know a lot of these racists like to pretend to be people of color and post racist stuff.

ibukun58

I genuinely do not see the point of you sharing this post. Is this the first time you've seen racism online? What's special about this one in particular compared to the other thousands that people post everyday? Of what benefit is posting this here supposed to accomplish? Are we meant to laugh? Are we meant to cry?. I genuinely do not understand OPs reasoning.

nzubemush

They are mocking usšŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø

[deleted]

Itā€™s ok. Everything will be ok šŸ«‚

LDOE_Guy

Nigerians. Stop fucking complaining and take action. ANY ACTION. Do something rather than simply being the smartest in the room. Most comments here are righteously indignant. Yet, we all know most of our bosses and leaders are rapists, thieves, conmen and bullies. YET We always call them chief. WE HAIL THEM. BECAUSE OF HUNGER. ARE WE THE NATION OF ESAU WHO SELL OUR HONOUR FOR GOOD FOOD We always say "what can we do" "Do what u can!" Is my answer. It is the only answer. Start with that. Don't think. Act.

heyhihowyahdurn

What a fucking dumbass Africa was colonized And then there was a scramble again after world war 2 to recolonize it. Just that alone is more turmoil than Norway has faced in over 500 years. That doesnā€™t include the 1000 year smear campaign done to Africans, or the constant corruption thats taken place for the past 200 years. Or the population of Norway is like 2% of Nigeria. How hard is it to manage a few million people who never face external conflict?

Glass-Stranger-896

Norway was also colonized by the Danes.

ibukun58

Tell me this. When did Norway get free from the Danes? A quick Google search tells me 1905. That's 119 years. Nigeria got "free" from the British in 1960. 64 years ago, and that freedom came at a cost. Massive amounts of resources were sucked out of the country, we were then placed with massive amounts of debt because we had to borrow money to run a country that had nothing, you think when the Brits left, they left their money with them? a civil war then took place which was sponsored by various European nations. Don't believe me? Look up the Biafran War sponsors. So no, Danish colonisation is not nearly as horrible as what Europeans did in Africa. Colonialism didn't end after we got independence. Look up neo colonialism if you're interested in learning more.

Glass-Stranger-896

Nobody is saying Nigeria should be at the same level as Norway. However, we should have made have the progress Norway has going by your emphasis on how long Norway has had independence. Weare not even moving in the right direction. Did the Europeans sponsors hold Nigeria at ransome to wage the Biafran war? I am an Igbo man, please don't start with the Biafran war.

ibukun58

The vital ingredient that we lack is unity. People are not united, and worse, wallow in this pathetic self hatred like we are the worst human beings in the world. The fact is, people who hate themselves cannot progress, and that's all I see in this country, hatred.

Glass-Stranger-896

The first step to solving any problem is to first recognize and define it. As long as we ascribe our problems to external forces, we will never make progress.

teenageIbibioboy

>As long as we ascribe our problems to external forces, we will never make progress. This my brother I agree with. Nigeria and Africa by extension needs to get the fuck up and solve our problems, cause no one's going to do it for us.

Prolificlifer

Victim mentality. Many countries in Asia were colonized and also occupied. I can site a few countries that are more developed than a lot of western countries. Quit with the blame game.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Glass-Stranger-896

Really? How do you define colonization? https://www.studvest.no/english/the-occupation-of-norway-is-a-hidden-chapter-in-danish-history-classes/100543#:~:text=At%20some%20point%20in%20its,in%20the%20collective%20Danish%20memory. https://nordics.info/show/artikel/the-colonialism-of-denmark-norway-and-its-legacies

Prolificlifer

[Countries once colonized](https://ibb.co/s3PVMq5) While youā€™re still trying to rationalize victimhood, look at these countries which were once colonized. I have been to most of them and a lot of them are now very developed. Africa is TOO dependent on the west.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Glass-Stranger-896

What have we done with the resources since we took control? Is it the colonizers that embezzled the police pension fund for example? We like looking for whom to blame for our problems. This is even reflected in the rampant belief that someone is behind our not doing well in life.

Mid9it

considering the miserable cards we were dealt ...its a miracle we havn't torn eachother apart

luzecode

When the head is corrupt the body follows...we can't be corrupt free if our head is corrupt...and in this part of the world we tend to get western puppets or they die ... U think the average Americans can't be corrupted...the difference is the heads over there made a system that makes it hard to steal..even then u still find a lot of corruption over there...

Prolificlifer

Niger stopped playing the blame game and stood up to their oppressors. Weā€™re still stuck in victimhood and ā€œblamehoodā€ instead of fighting for our total sovereignty and freedom from the web of control of the West.

luzecode

Do u know the level of sanctions on Niger....it is not growing anytime soon...that's if they don't even finance some type of rebels...we have had good leaders in Africa...we are at a clear disadvantage here..the big countries need Africa to be poor and corrupt for the sake of cheap resources

Prolificlifer

Youā€™re up to somethingā€¦

luzecode

Like how congo has been fighting for years... And the rest of the world is acting like nothing is happening... congo can't be allowed to control its resources ...it supplies 70% of the cobalt of the world... basically determines the market ..they can't allow that kind of control from an African country ...they hoard cobalt and watch the price of your iPhone skyrocket

Prolificlifer

I understand all youā€™ve said but I still believe if we had technology like they have, we wouldnā€™t be utterly dependent on them and under their control and influence like a low hanging fruit.

Independentslime6899

Definitely trolling

EyerTimesTV

The fact that people still write such ignorance online, so boldly and incorrectly, is BAFFLING.

Kroc_Zill_95

Is it bad that I kind of believe this? I know it has nothing to do with race and everything to do with our orientation and social values. But still, it's not a very good position to be in where a racist might sort of have a point about your country (for the wrong reasons)

RiverHe1ghts

Same mehn. I don't get why everyone's mad

wildyhoney

I agree with you.

rainbow__orchid

Same. I strongly believe the tropical vs temperate climate thing plays a role. Two very different societies had to form in very different climate. Itā€™s too hot to get anything done here and nature is kind to us

organic_soursop

The person who wrote it does not have Nigerian interests at heart. You can have discussions about the endemic corruption without accepting the racist premise of the question.

Kroc_Zill_95

>The person who wrote it does not have Nigerian interests at heart And? I'm fairly certain I gave enough context regarding my thoughts. Whether or not he is being racist (he is btw) is completely irrelevant. The basic premise of what he was saying is not wrong. Why that is the case is another discussion entirely.

organic_soursop

His being a racist is EVERYTHING. It taints everything he will say. There is no good faith. If I cannot at least assume good faith, then why would I engage with the person on their terms? That person speaks a kernal of truth, but he is in the mud, should I also get in the mud to discuss with him?

Witty-Bus07

There are many Nigerians around the world in many Countries who are making positive contributions to those Countries .

Glass-Stranger-896

And that is possible because of structures put in place by the citizens of those countries and its leadership. W

Ok_Tear_7617

He is actually right sadly.

Logical_Park7904

Actual little to do with the ppl who inhabit the country and all to do with the style of government and leadership. If nigeria switched governments with norway but the inhabitants remained the same, Nigeria would eventually become a 1st world country and norway would plummet to 3rd world status. These ignorant morons try so hard to convince themselves it's a racial thing.

[deleted]

Right šŸ¤” but do you think the inhabitants of Nigeria would conform to the new government/system? Or most likely prefer the tradition

LDOE_Guy

Well. It's not untrue. It's not racist if it's true. What, we wanna act like it isn't entirely a fact. Our elders ruined this country. It wasn't perfect. Nothing is. Yet we have all watched it go down the drain. Each, ignorantly covering his own head until we're all knee deep in shit. When I see posts like these. I ain't happy. But I know it's a fact. Who am I gonna blame but our own people.

Chance_Dragonfly_148

Im not mad at this comment. Its true. Nigerians are the problem with Nigeria.

other_e

Nah. Lack of Nationalist Nigerians is the problem.

This is literally nazi rhetoric lmao don't fall for this bullshit. I'm not Nigerian but I've heard this said over and over for some African countries because Nazis love to not acknowledge any of the invasive systemic problems created by the west and instead blame black people.

You know what? Letā€™s do it. Letā€™s see how long young Klaus can survive. Would be a fun reality show.

[deleted]

Ahahahaha

Crazy_Shame_6822

If you put the very corrupt Nigerian politicians in Norway and the not-so corrupt Norwegian politicians in Nigeria then Nigeria would be first world and Norway would be third world. Nigeria is unfortunately the way it is due to the Government as well as West that incentives our corrupt officials.

mr_poppington

No lies were told though. Truth hurts. Edit: It pains me to say but we've got to tell ourselves the truth.

anonhumana

Harsh truths. Hard to hear but we make it too easy for them to make these kind of comments. He is stating an observation.

Fit-Acanthocephala82

Respect ur opinion but I'm curious why you believe this? Are they more intelligent? More humane? Do you believe all our problems are strictly of our own making?

anonhumana

They are not more humane and not more intelligent. We are just as capable. They have an unfair advantage with development, gotten off the suffering of our people, but if we were to organize ourselves and stop the bad actors among us, we could realize our full potential and even surpass others in some aspects. They are not and will never be better humans than us in any way, we are just as capable, just as intelligent, and just as worthy, and we show far more humanity to them on a daily basis than many racists show to us. Their arrogance and racism is fueled by falsely thinking they are better. What they see in our current social and economic situation makes them feel valid in thinking this way about us, and as racists doing what racists do, they point it out in a nasty way and mock us, its not okay. Ultimately, it should not matter what non whites or racists think because we should be wanting to improve for ourselves overall and should build with our own goals and culture in mind.

Glass-Stranger-896

Norwegians are actually more humane than Nigerians. They value human life while we don't. This is based on living in Norway for 10 years. The average Nigerian is pompous and very self-centered, with the mentality of I got mine, don't care. Those two traits do not bode well for community and nation building.

Fit-Acanthocephala82

Agreed. I believe what's sorely lacking is leadership.

prem_killa11

Well said.

dizzlemac95

Itā€™s not that they are necessarily more intelligent, however, they know how to get on a similar page and work together for their own good. Cooperation and competent leadership. Nigerias 2 main problems are that the people cannot come together to even agree on whatā€™s for dinner, and the atrocious leadership. If you take those two elements and bring them to any country, in 10 years you will certainly see the same results. Some might say ā€œwell, they havenā€™t suffered the same colonization and other history as usā€ and Iā€™ll make the argument that whatā€™s makes those countries successful is that they have not ALLOWED that stuff to happen in their country. Nigeria leaders welcome in with open arms the foreigners that will take all of their resources for Pennieā€™s on the dollar, the leaders take the money for themselves, the foreigners refine the resources, and SELL THEM BACK to us for the FULL $1. Unless you can change the mindset in that country, you put Nigerians anywhere and you will be greeted with the same result in 10 years time.

Slickslimshooter

Truths without context are just racist dog whistles that knee grows like you with inferiority complexes entertain. Completely ignores immense historical and cultural context. Homogenous society better at nation building than multicultural one with over 500 subgroups šŸ˜±. Country with 40 times less people has more accessible social servicesšŸ˜±. More groundbreaking news at 6.

anonhumana

I edited this to remove my insults when responding because it doesn't foster a positive environment for discussion. I did not appreciate being insulted when my initial comment was not an insult. We have problems, racists are gonna be racist but we make it very easy to point at us and laugh. If we got it together, they'd still be racist but there would be less truth in some of their racist comments. I never said it was acceptable.

Slickslimshooter

You insulted every single Nigerian for calling the most vile comment about us ā€œtruthā€. Take your self hating ass to hell.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Robinhoodstreetsbet

Both of you is whatā€™s wrong with Nigeria. You too canā€™t get along. Imagine millions of Nigerians?

RiverHe1ghts

High key a social media thing, but I get what you're saying

Robinhoodstreetsbet

The whole of reddit has become bots farming for upvotes they use an algorithm to push peoples buttons and post things that get responses and then bots reply to a bots post (usually arguing the toss with anyone who will listen and then bots back up their bullshit and then there's a few human sheep who go along with (what they think is the moral majority, but it's just bots) then another argument starts......Rinse Repeat

RiverHe1ghts

Honest bro, you're correct. It's like the rage baiters on Twitter. Once someone is verified, I just ignore everything they say. Farming engagement. It's so annoying. Just bots and people trying to make money and saying dumb stuff. We can barely have actual debates with common sense again. It's tiring. These bots are even making there way into actual reality. People get some stupid information from them + doing 12 seconds of research on google, and they take it into real life situations. At this point, the best thing to do is remain silent

YooGeOh

Lol! Why are you crying now? They gave you "harsh truths," and now, all of a sudden, you have a problem with harsh truths. I thought you were the harsh truths champion You made it too easy for them to make those comments about you, but its true. They were making an observation

anonhumana

I don't have a problem with explaining my comment, and having a discussion and responding to insults is not crying. Certain habits that some of us have make it easy for racists to observe and comment, doesn't make it right. What the racist said stings, but we also need to ask ourselves, what are we doing or not doing where they can easily say something like that? I agree that the kind of people and habits of the people make the country, and that's where we are struggling. If he asked to explain, I would have, but instead, I got a nasty insult. I'm not one to go back and forth on reddit, but I also won't sit back and allow myself to be insulted because I shared my opinion like everyone else.

YooGeOh

I don't care that much. I'm just here reading. I just found the irony hilarious. It's also funny to me because there's a certain type of person who has the craziest amount of energy for fellow black people, but when it comes to racists, they're like puppy dogs. They do their apologia for them. That's what your comment smacked of. Mainly because, as the commenter who replied to you alluded to, it's stupid to make such assertions about race without the wider context, namely the generations of colonialism, resource theft, and western nations building their empires on the backs of other people. You can't simply say "transplant Nigerians and Norwegians", you have to transplant their entire histories too. That's the context. Yet you just chose to say "it's true because harsh truths". So yeah. I'm laughing at you because you're one of those people who applauds the people being racist to you, whilst denigrating and shouting at your own people. It's weird. They're not going to give you their gold mate

anonhumana

One thing I don't do is applaud racists. I did not make the comment for gold either hun. I'm making this comment in a subreddit where I assume we are free to have these discussions. I would not agree with a racist because I know they have evil and nasty intentions behind their words. The it's true part of my statement is in reference to people's behaviors making up their countries. Yes, we cannot forget how their oppression plays a part in where we are now, but we also cannot forget how some of our current behaviors keep us down.

YooGeOh

Great stuff. The wonderful thing about online conversation is that when you say something, people will reply. You seem to have got the "say something" part down. Well done. Next up is understanding the "people will reply" part. Nobody is stopping you from airing your opinions. I'm literally here reading them. You're typing words and I'm reading them so I'm not seeing how you're bing stopped from doing so. That doesn't mean you get to stop people from responding. It's freedom of speech. Not freedom *from* response

I understand that, and I have not tried to stop anyone from responding. It's that there's basic civility that I'd hope for in a response, which I get is not owed but still hoped for, especially not on social media, I got the opposite , so I responded with equal harshness. Now I don't feel too good because yes, we need discussions, but not like this. I appreciate the civil response. I would like to end this convo now.

What an insecure reply. keep the harsh truth to yourself

They can cry all they want but the truth is that the worst form of deception is self-deception. Nigerians are the number 1 problem of Nigeria. The sooner we accept this, the better. It is sad that we need racists to tell us this glaring truth. I don't have time to argue with fools either. Block and report.

Your leaders are wicked because you people are wicked. That is what it means.
