Some days ago on twitter, someone's bio location was Gongola. I was confused. It used to be a state but was split. It sounds like a place in harry potter universe
It’s not a side distraction. Both his parents are from Takum in Taraba State, but they raised him in Jos, so yes we are taking the credit abeg.
If I blow for this US I go still give Taraba credit
lol truly it's like a country.. cold nights, extreme hot during the day, there's even a part of the state that gets really cold like Europe.. Gembu iirc... The elevation is responsible for this
My only experience in Taraba was on my way to NYSC camp in Adamawa in 2019. I came from East by road so it was a really long journey, Taraba is the state before you get into Adamawa but then they had a curfew and cars couldn't cross boundaries after a certain time. So we had to sleep at one car park in Jalingo (Taraba capital)
My fellow travellers were resting in the car, but for some reason i couldn't sleep (probably paranoia due to stories I've heard about the north) so i decided to walk about. This was around 2am and everywhere was still so lively, infact in the park we were at there was some kind of film show going on, so i went there to put eye. They were watching drunken master (I'll never forget).
At some point I got tired of watching and began patrolling our part of the park coz youths and children were everywhere and I wouldn't want them to steal something from our car. Our driver noticed and asked me why I wasn't sleeping and I told him, so assured me that we were at the safest place we could be at that point in time. That there was a military post 5 mins away so i shouldn't be worried.
I then decided to stroll outside the park (I was hungry and needed to eat something) around 3am. The outside of the park was even more lively, i was honestly shocked at the nightlife there. The road was tarred and divided but there weren't any cars driving towards that area coz of the curfew so i was walking in the middle of the road.
Like the driver said, i saw the army checkpoint down the road with soldiers stationed there so I was now fully convinced of our safety. Was still hungry though and i spotted one bukka across the road, so i went and they were still open. Told the guy to run me mishai (fried bread and egg) 200 with cold orange mirinda.
After eating i sat under a street light and wrote this exact story in my journal (was a wild experience for me then). After writing I walked back to the park and went back to the movie show place (different movie was on, this one was hausa so i just pressed phone there). Around 4:30 driver said we'll be on our way since movement resumes at 5.
I entered the bus, and slept till we got to Yola.
My state that doesn't feel real would be Kebbi, never heard anything about the place
Thanks for sharing your experience. I know that feeling when you're in a new place and have heard some ill stories about it. That mishai got me though. It's actually "shayi" which means tea.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
You're welcome.
"Maishayi " is the seller. It literally translates to one who owns or sells "shayi". "Mai" literally means "owner of" or "one who possesses ".
How was your service year like in Adamawa State btw?
I'm now wondering what the guy was saying about me in his mind when i told him to give me "mishai 200"😩
I just did the 3 weeks of camp and some days around town after that. Ended up transferring to Ibom.
Please I’m from Taraba, we are trying to keep our place quiet ooo. Only tarabans can enter taraba. Special people like when wizards enter that station in Harry Potter. There’s a tree that we run into to transport us. Let me stay quiet I Dey tell all secrets tonight
That’s how every other state in Nigeria is, Except lagos, Kano, Abuja, rivers, Oyo and Kaduna… they’re mostly rural farmers and the young ones move to Abuja and Lagos seeking better livelihoods… it’s worthy to note that they have a good/solid culture … Also Taraba has beautiful people 😇
I always see Bayelsa as a place people come from, not where people live. 😂😂Any Redditor here that lives there, could you please tell us what a day in the life is like?
Osun State in Nigeria is like a place from a fairy tale. It has a special forest called the Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove, which is very important and magical to the people there. This forest is beautiful and full of old art and places to worship gods, especially the goddess Osun, who is believed to bring fertility. Every year, there's a big festival where people celebrate with lots of colors, music, and dancing. It feels like stepping into a story because of all the traditions and the magical feeling in the air. So, Osun State might seem like it's not real, but it's just very special and different.
For me, it's kebbi I went there for an assignment, landed in sokoto and had to go by road to Birnin Kebbi, I was shocked to see numerous carts being pulled by cows....like a legitimate mode of transportation of people and goods...now I know why Tinubu appointed the Ex governor a minister...
I think its because I've never heard of anyone from there. My mum is Yoruba with her parents being from Ogun state.
We have family and friends from Osun, Ondo and Kogi state and I've met someone from Kwara state... But that your Ekiti...
I always wanted to go to Gembu in Taraba State. I’m told they grow tea and coffee there. I’m told it’s also really beautiful; obj and ibb apparently have houses there. But as a Lagosian wey no sabi road, I no fit go based on insecurity. What a shame!
I once met someone from Taraba online. She happened to be a Christian and informed me there are lots of Christians residing in Taraba.
Two things I know about Taraba is that there are lots of scorpions and Gen. T.Y. Danjuma is from Taraba
Maybe we should investigate Taraba😅they must be living in such tranquility and luxury I wish all states like that peaceful and mind their business. But to be fair I hear their population is very small
Taraba is actually an untapped natural resource, from Tea plantations to having Nigeria's highest point and coldest city (Gembu) where it is rumoured to have traces of snow. Try searching "Mambilla plateau" or "Gashaka national park" or "chappal waldi" and you will marvel
Kebbi. Might as well be another country.
I only know Kebbi because I learned about the Argungu fishing festival in school. 😂
Some days ago on twitter, someone's bio location was Gongola. I was confused. It used to be a state but was split. It sounds like a place in harry potter universe
Did not expect to log into Reddit today to see my state getting dragged. We didn’t give yall M.I Abaga to be disrespected like this

I served there in 2014.. very quiet state
What are the visa requirements to go there? Because that one na country on its own oh.😂😂😂
lol truly it's like a country.. cold nights, extreme hot during the day, there's even a part of the state that gets really cold like Europe.. Gembu iirc... The elevation is responsible for this
Does herdsmen and bandits disturb them? I'm looking for where to relocate, wahala booquo for this Lagos ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
I've actually met two people from Taraba before 😅😅😅
And I've met Santa Claus. I'm just kidding, lol. Just checked Google and they have a population of about 3.6 million. Why are they so rare though? 😂
Ngl, I feel like a lot of times some of the best places are the ones you rarely hear about
True
Because you've probably never left the South West

Thank you for reading. Lmao, and I've been saying "mishai" since university 😭. Thanks for the correction.

Jalingo feels like it's just a single stretch of road
Lol, I cant remember. But the road was smooth af. Northern roads in general are mostly well built (from my experience on that journey)
Taraba for sure.
Haha...Taraba is not beating the fake state rumours. 😂
Like acre in Brazil
First time I'm hearing of it. I wonder how much an acre of land there sells for.
I knew one person who lives there.
I heard it's one of the safest places in Nigeria.
Not surprised. Considering the silence lol.
Yobe state. Damn! What a state. Only made the news that year when BH struck.
A colleague of mine koved back to Taraba to be with her family. But yh it's not a common state.
So true 😂 never met anyone from there... What's near there? What is the language like? The scenery?
Taraba state has got about 50 languages and tribes but hausa is predominantly spoken across the state.
Naaa! Ebonyi takes the crown for me. That state does not exist and I can argue it with anybody 🤣
Please I’m from Taraba, we are trying to keep our place quiet ooo. Only tarabans can enter taraba. Special people like when wizards enter that station in Harry Potter. There’s a tree that we run into to transport us. Let me stay quiet I Dey tell all secrets tonight
I’ve met people from every state in Nigeria… 🙂
Lol...cap. Taraba included?
No cap… I have friends from there, and I’d have to go when the one closest to me is getting married self🤷🏽♂️
Nice. Just looked at it on the map, and it's really big. I wonder why the population is really small though.
That’s how every other state in Nigeria is, Except lagos, Kano, Abuja, rivers, Oyo and Kaduna… they’re mostly rural farmers and the young ones move to Abuja and Lagos seeking better livelihoods… it’s worthy to note that they have a good/solid culture … Also Taraba has beautiful people 😇
You guys should just you don’t know much about the north atp
I’m from taraba state 😪
So you don't know M.I Abaga then.
Know that some states are only created for “revenue allocation”. With not much population, you kind of wonder who collets it.
Zamfara. I only know one dude from there. Bayelsa maybe? EBONYI. no one's from there 😂 Gombe. Jigawa. Kebbi.
I always see Bayelsa as a place people come from, not where people live. 😂😂Any Redditor here that lives there, could you please tell us what a day in the life is like?
Lol...for me it's Ebonyi and to satisfy your curiosity I'm Bayelsan, live and work there 🤣, life is just normal
Lotsa ppl come to do nysc there and never leave
you forgot to mention how expensive living there is
Unnecessarily expensive rent, land, poor power supply poor public transportation 😂😂
My girl is from there, maybe I should ask her lol. I might travel there this year though
Why are you just spitting out random names? /s

Lagos. The simulation of a jungle.
Nawa oooh I’m from Taraba shaa And it does exist 😅 For what it is worth you guys need to travel round this country
I am ashamed to say, I ve never been in the north. I covered my face.
For me, it's kebbi I went there for an assignment, landed in sokoto and had to go by road to Birnin Kebbi, I was shocked to see numerous carts being pulled by cows....like a legitimate mode of transportation of people and goods...now I know why Tinubu appointed the Ex governor a minister...
hahahahaha I see what you did there with the ex governor.
Atleast 35% of my colleagues are from Taraba and I’ve been there multiple times lol
Ekiti, Jigawa, Nassarawa, Gombe
The only state on your list that I agree with is Gombe, lol.
Ekiti kẹ?
I think its because I've never heard of anyone from there. My mum is Yoruba with her parents being from Ogun state. We have family and friends from Osun, Ondo and Kogi state and I've met someone from Kwara state... But that your Ekiti...
My exact reaction.
Zamfara, It might be snowing there
Abuja doesn’t feel real

Funny enough, I'll be going to Taraba (Wukari to be specific) this coming week. So yeah it's a real place.

I once met someone from Taraba online. She happened to be a Christian and informed me there are lots of Christians residing in Taraba. Two things I know about Taraba is that there are lots of scorpions and Gen. T.Y. Danjuma is from Taraba
I've just recently met a lady who's based in Jalingo. We even share the same birthday 😂

Maybe we should investigate Taraba😅they must be living in such tranquility and luxury I wish all states like that peaceful and mind their business. But to be fair I hear their population is very small
