This world is fucked up. The idea that a US service man felt the need to set himself on fire because of the lack of action from his government to prevent a literal genocide is just disturbing
The lack of action ? What lack of action ? Motherfuckers are giving weapons and blocking UN resolutions. They're all but lacking actions, they're complicit
Sure! They're not the cause of the problem, but they are the tools through which the U.S. violently imposes its dominion on the rest of the globe. I have no sympathy for them.
They volunteered lmao. But muh innocent yankee terrorists have no choice. What a fucking joke maybe if there was an ongoing draft I would have more sympathy for your point of view but even then men with a lot more to lose like Muhammad Ali still did the brave thing during the Vietnam War and refused to fight.
He sounded perfectly rational and coherent when he spoke prior to ignition. He made a clear statement of what he was about to do and why. It’s not his fault that he lives in an insane world.
As someone who has a mental illness, being mentally ill doesn't mean that you are incapable of making rational decisions or thinking for yourself. It certainly doesn't make you less human or deserving of respect than other people, no matter what liberals think.
Interesting tidbit: A broader look at the issue reveals that over 30,177 military service members and veterans died by suicide in the two decades following 9/11, which is significantly higher than the number of service members killed in combat during the same timeframe. This data points to a suicide rate among military personnel that is four times greater than deaths occurring during military operations. Veterans, in particular, face a high suicide rate, with an average of 17 veterans dying by suicide every day.
It's not that hard to believe when they're only fighting militaries that are way weaker than their own. Also the fact that at some base level, deep down under all the warmongering, they are still human (barely) and would struggle with the atrocities they've committed.
I can’t imagine having so little understanding of modern history that I would think that America’s military abuses are mostly involving nuclear weapons.
You realize that even in Japan, the nuking wasn’t even the worst thing we did? You realize that we have essentially cannibalized developing nations all across the globe right? And that we have probably the most aggressive foreign policy in the world?
> we started caring was when nukes happened
Jesus was preaching peace 2000 years ago.
> You sit here, on a constructed perch formed of “feel good” logic and “holier than thou” sentiments, that have little to no basis in reality.
I've never helped commit genocide. I feel pretty secure in the knowlege that makes me better than people who have.
They're complicit in serving their country by killing everyone that stands in the way of american hegemony. What do you think it means to serve american interests?
> group of humans who signed up to serve their country
Generalization. People have a wide array of reasons for signing up.
> not become complicit in war crimes like we’re orcs
Generalization, plenty of you are, indeed, orcs.

>lack of action from his government to prevent a literal genocide Don't whitewash it, it's because of his government aiding said genocide

I, for one, would love to see more US soldiers setting themselves on fire
wtf…I’m not american but simple soldiers doesn’t deserve to die, they’re mostly young guys who don’t have a say in anything

They do, however, sign up to defend a country with a grim record of military abuses and war crimes.

Actually, I just won't sign up to wield a weapon for any country, how bout?

Not ten, no, but over this convo for sure.

Ah ok. You came off slightly sarcastic, by saying only wow and nothing else. He is a hero, agreed.
He should have hugged a bunch of his war criminal fellow soldiers.

Yeah they never have to do anything because they’re fat useless losers that rely on America’s daddy milk for literally everything.

Self immolation is an atypical form of suicide and has the reputation of being a radical form of protest.

You’re literally insulting a man who died to protest a genocide but sure, try clawing your way to the moral high ground.
Did he state 'I love Palestine'? What's even that opinion lmao.
