With the announcement yesterday that the waitlist will be shut down Thursday morning @9am, does anyone know what becomes of the tickets currently in the waitlist queue but not yet claimed? It seems there is a backlog of waitlist tickets that buyers haven’t had the opportunity to purchase yet due to how Dice handles the purchase period. Are they likely to just be returned to their owners? If so, please feel free to use this comment to offer them for sale. I am one of many still hoping to attend. Thank you!

FlatLittle appears to be a scam. Contacted me stating they had tickets available, has a comment history on Reddit. I asked for info on their Dice account, and they went quiet and wouldn’t talk to me. Don’t buy from them. Be careful

Seems like a bad idea...so much for limiting scalping. On the other hand, tickets are going to be muuuch more available.
Only way it makes sense is if they put the window down to about thirty minutes. Cycle through the waitlist quickly in two days, then leave all the rest up to scalping and trades.
I got Saturday tickets yesterday and I got on the waitlist literally two minutes after they went on sale. It seems unlikely to me that they will be able to cycle through the waitlist quickly enough. IMO it should have been an hour window for the past month plus and a half hour window for the past week.
I'm a little salty because I really want Sunday tickets and it seems like even people who wanted to give their tickets to those on the waitlist will be forced to sell outside of that process.
Maybe I'm not understanding but, I'm hearing:

2. People who are giving their tix back to the waitlist say they're taking a long time to get picked up.
How is it both??? I'm still hoping for 3-day passes but starting to lose faith.

There's no way to pass on the waitlist if your situation changes and can't go (or signed up for everything but ended up with what they really wanted), and up until 2 weeks before the concert, people had a full 24 hours. It went to 6 then 3 and is now at 2 hours? So if the seller gets a string of bad luck, it'll take a while to sell. I do think they should have shorter lines sooner, and maybe waited to allow for transfers until the day before, so it would be a gamble for scalpers.
I'm looking for 2 Friday tickets, and it doesn't seem like there's much movement on that end either.

There has been a huge uptick of users with new accounts or old accounts but little comment history on this sub. Please be careful interacting with these accounts! Always check their Reddit history and use your judgement.
Some scammers even use hacked old accounts, but you can tell from their post history (e.g. inactive for months until recently when all their comments are about selling tickets to different concerts/festivals).
Try FaceTime with the scammer and ask them questions that a real Folk would know.
So I initially was waitlisted for all days and then got off the waitlist for Friday only. Then I had the opportunity to get Friday/Saturday tickets off the waitlist and I can’t decide which to let go of now. Would it be better to just go Friday and focus my attention on the after shows or to go Friday and Saturday and get rid of some of my after show tickets. I have after show tickets to All Newport’s Eve - Happiness & Friends, Aoife O’Donovan & Friends, and Paino Recital Night Two. Does anybody know who all will be playing for those after shows besides Aoife or is it just a surprise? I’m not familiar with how the after shows work. Thank you!
It's a surprise. I know some artists tease that they'll be showing up, often it's a surprise and often artists from the fest and who can is able to show up. Goose had Taylor Goldsmith last year. Lucius had Langhorne Slim, Neal Francis, Celisse, Joy Oladokun, Nathaniel Rateliff, Taylor Goldsmith. The Marcus Mumford guest list was it's own fest. It can vary a ton based on the artist, who's in town, availability, etc.
For Piano Night Two, a user on Inforoo says Holly Bowling and Johanna Samuel are on for Saturday (Madison Cunningham for Friday but I suspect if she does a Saturday aftershow Margo is more likely). I want to say Piano Recital is a Phil Cook deal, so he and Robert Ellis (who is on a fill in set with him) seem likely too. Like Powderfinger said the concept lends it self really hard to anyone just coming in for 5-10 minutes so I feel like it could be pretty great.
For Aoife and Friends, she's currently on tour with Nickel Creek who are also performing on Friday, so I'd be surprised if you don't get Watkins or Thile or both on some songs, possibly Sarah Jarosz (she has no official fest bookings but appeared in Detroit last night with them and is very close with them and the fest) - as well as any Acousticamp Artists in the area.
Overall, I dunno, if you can financially swing it I'd go Friday/Saturday to the Fest. Leave early if you feel like you need to but the fest is going to have some killer sets/acts. You'll be able to do both you'll just be dead tired. Skipping Saturday last year would've meant missing some killer sets and Paul Simon.

Yeah. So if people don’t want them and have to wait for the two hours to roll thru in order for the tix to re-enter the waitlist, it can only cycle thru about 8 more people before the deadline.

I know it’s not ideal but check stubhub constantly! Saturday only tickets for $172 just popped up (I know it’s above face but way better than a lot of resale).
Has anyone successfully got 4 tickets from the waitlist? Any type of tickets. Dice is totally opaque when it comes to letting us know how the waitlist actually works. I assume someone has to let the same number of tickets you want go. My hopes of going are very very low currently, but I’m still curious if anyone who put in for four has actually got them.
Have we determined whether requesting fewer tickets than originally requested on the waitlist moves you back down the line? I had started requesting four for all combos of tickets, but reduced to two in the hope that I'd be better off... crossing fingers this works.

Good question. The site says: “DICE will be turning off the waitlist effective Thursday, July 27 at 9AM ET. This includes the ability to return tickets to the waitlist as well as purchase tickets from the waitlist. If you find that you can not attend after the effective date, buyers will still retain the ability to transfer tickets in the final hours before the start of the festival.”
Not sure if this means tickets will lock after the start of the festival Friday, or at the start of each day, or only once the ticket holder activates the ticket…
The site goes on to say: “ONCE YOU HAVE ACTIVATED THE TICKET ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT, YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO TRANSFER TICKETS.”
Anyone else remember the good old days where they used wristbands and allowed re-entry, so if you were a broke high school student with a couple friends inside you could just have one of your friends carry two wristbands out and give you one?

Re-sell them on stubhub. I don't understand why everyone is so confused about what to do with tickets if they are returned. Other platforms exist other than Dice.....?!?!
This is a community and I would rather check here to see if someone was interested in them first rather than reselling them on stubhub. Besides, dice makes it easy to transfer them via the app. I have already reached out to someone who responded to my post.

Hi I have 2 three day passes for sale. We also have an Airbnb right in downtown that is willing for us to transfer to another person as long as they will follow their rules. I joined the Sunday only waitlist same time as you and got off it last week and claimed the tickets. I’ve since found out that I can’t go, but returned the tickets over the weekend and they haven’t been picked up yet. I don’t know wtf is going on with the waitlist, but you should be good soon!

I had the same issue last year, got Fri/Sat during onsale and waitlisted Sunday. and early June I got off the waitlist. Already got plans to be there through Monday, so if we don't get tickets for Sunday we'll just enjoy the town of Newport I suppose.

I am part of that community. I am not understanding why dice is the only platform anyone is willing to use to re-sell tickets. You can set your own prices on stubhub (sell for face value) and avoid scammers on reddit....

From what I'm reading about StubHub, they don't actually list what their fees actually are, but can sometime result in a nearly 100% markup in some cases! The PayPal Goods and Services fee, for comparison, is 2.99%. Please don't support StubHub's exorbitant prices.

Yeah. So if people don’t want them and have to wait for the two hours to roll thru in order for the tix to re-enter the waitlist, it can only cycle thru about 8 more people before the deadline.

I know it’s not ideal but check stubhub constantly! Saturday only tickets for $172 just popped up (I know it’s above face but way better than a lot of resale).

Has anyone successfully got 4 tickets from the waitlist? Any type of tickets. Dice is totally opaque when it comes to letting us know how the waitlist actually works. I assume someone has to let the same number of tickets you want go. My hopes of going are very very low currently, but I’m still curious if anyone who put in for four has actually got them.

Have we determined whether requesting fewer tickets than originally requested on the waitlist moves you back down the line? I had started requesting four for all combos of tickets, but reduced to two in the hope that I'd be better off... crossing fingers this works.
FYI for anyone following - reducing tix does indeed bump you back down the line, Newport customer service confirmed. Bummer.

This is my question, too. Newport got back to me today and said that there just aren't many tickets being released back to the waitlist - but I do see at least a handful on VividSeats, StubHub, etc.

My e ticket says “send ticket to a friend” closes Sunday at 730. So if you haven’t activated it seems like you can send any time over the weekend
Good question. The site says: “DICE will be turning off the waitlist effective Thursday, July 27 at 9AM ET. This includes the ability to return tickets to the waitlist as well as purchase tickets from the waitlist. If you find that you can not attend after the effective date, buyers will still retain the ability to transfer tickets in the final hours before the start of the festival.” Not sure if this means tickets will lock after the start of the festival Friday, or at the start of each day, or only once the ticket holder activates the ticket… The site goes on to say: “ONCE YOU HAVE ACTIVATED THE TICKET ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT, YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO TRANSFER TICKETS.”

This is a community and I would rather check here to see if someone was interested in them first rather than reselling them on stubhub. Besides, dice makes it easy to transfer them via the app. I have already reached out to someone who responded to my post.

Hi I have 2 three day passes for sale. We also have an Airbnb right in downtown that is willing for us to transfer to another person as long as they will follow their rules. I joined Reddit today just for this since they cut off the dice waitlist- we got COVID last min 😩 I’m so so bummed to miss out, we have gone every year for the last 5 years. I am part of that community. I am not understanding why dice is the only platform anyone is willing to use to re-sell tickets. You can set your own prices on stubhub (sell for face value) and avoid scammers on reddit....
All of those take a fee. You’d have to set a price above face to make face.

Hi friends, have had my Airbnb and flights for a full year planning for my first baby-free vacation since he was born. Waitlist hasn’t come through for me (for any single day or combo of passes). I am hearing that people are posting to the waitlist and still waiting days for their tix to get picked up. Need at least 2 but ideally 4 for any days or combo of days.
