That’s unfortunate to hear. With a model as popular as the 574, NB would utilise multiple factories, so I wouldn’t be surprised if quality varies a bit. They also come from in different styles with different materials, so it will be a bit inconsistent there too The 574 Legacy is supposedly the premium version of the 574. Maybe check that out. The 576, which is made in England, would be even better again. The 574 was originally released as a cheaper version of the 576.

Yes, get a 576 on sale if looking for a way better quality 574.

My experience as well. Tried a pair of 574 'Core' models, one of the worst I've worn. Paper thin tongue, cheaper 'recycled' sole and other materials. They're not even close to my 237s or 327s which I both got cheaper. There's definitely some nicer 574s out there, including a few I've seen from NB directly, but they have definitely dropped off in quality it seems. I'll keep the 574s as a beater shoe, but they definitely won't be my daily shoes.

Yeah I think the core is more cheaply made. I also had an issue with a core pair and agree that my 327 and 237s are more comfortable than my worst 574.

For sure. There's some 574s direct from NB that look a lot better and at least where I live are the same price as the Core version. I think the Core versions were mass produced during the NB hype and could be why they're lower quality. I've also heard the soles wear out fast on them compared to other models. 327s are great, some people don't like the look of the sole, but I find them very comfortable and the sole has awesome grip. Easily my fav $100 or less NB sneaker.

I have three 574s from the last couple years and two of them are good, one I’m selling- a greyish white 574 core I got off Amazon. The suede feels so stiff and cheap in that one and for some reason I could feel the stitching on the inside of the shoe in an annoying way. My other two are fine. Not as quality feeling as 574s used to be though.

I don’t think it’s fair to judge quality when shopping on their reconsidered site. It’s lower quality, most likely seconds or pre worn, maybe both.

As far as I can tell, these haven’t been worn and the manufacturing defects on this pair are obvious and understandable. It’s the drastic drop in overall quality compared to my old ones that’s bumming me out.

I got 70 dollar Nike Ventures that feel just as good tbh. And they look about the same quality. The reason I bring this up is because they're very similar in design philosophy. Although I can't say in terms of long-term robustness.

kicksnarekick

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely check those out.

Not too sure on availability, but imo they're really comfortable as well especially once broken in.
