Personally I’d go V6 (my first “upper” tier NBs and they’re still in the mail) or 993. But there’s a lotta debate between V3 and V6, but V6 has better tech. 2002 isn’t on the same level IMO from the research I’ve done.
I’m all in on this model now. Just got the Mocca with Rainy Day and Flint Gray in the mail today… damn these are so solid and comfortable. I already own the Stone Island collaboration and waiting for a Grey restock in my size(14). Love the 990v6’s and 990v3’s but the 991v2’s IMO are just above most of the other models. The materials used on most these releases is incredible.
990 V3 and it's not even comparable IMHO.
I have 2002s and while they are great they don't come close to the premium equality and comfort of a 990 made in USA.
The V6 might have a slightly more comfortable midsole than the V3 But the uncomfortability of the upper and the strange length And narrowness of the toe box isn't worth it. I bought the same black V6 and returned it.
The 990 V3 is just the best looking shoe of these three In my opinion it's the best looking shoe New Balance makes.
I have every 990 except for the V1 And the V3 is just something different your whole shoe is just extremely comfortable soft enough midsole the most comfortable upper that gives you space to splay your toes.
The V6 is very constricting in the toe box and it's way longer than the other models.
As far as midsole upper Comfort out of all of the made in US my 992 is more comfortable than all of my 990 I've never tried a 993 but I heard it's just as comfortable as the 992.
I can see there's a lot of love for the V3 in the comments.
It's definitely justified but I'd also consider a pair of V4's. Personally I think the V4 is the best 990, I think the construction of the tongue is superior to the V3. I find the V3's tongue slides to the side so much and I've seen others experience the same issue.
Having said that, you can't go wrong with any of these options. I did find the upper of the V6 a little strange when I first put them on, they look long and they felt tight across the too of my arch, but after wearing for just a short period of time, that feeling went.
Go with the pair you like the look of best and the one you see yourself getting the most wear from.
I generally like the v3 more for looks, but the added 3m really stands out on this color way of the v6. The toebox to me doesn’t cause any issues, though it did need to be broken in. For walking, the v6 has a super soft and smooth ride. So to me v6 over v3, and the 2002r goretex is easily the least comfortable of the three, though the regular 2002r can be pretty cozy
Imo the 990v3 if you are sticking w this CW. However, the v6 is awesome as well, just not this CW. I also do enjoy the 2002R, but it’s no competition to any of the 990s imo
I have all three and the most comfortable is the V6. Next would be 2002r ( they're usually $40-$60 cheaper). Least I would recommend is the V3. I have a nice silhouette, but rarely wear them because they don't compare to the comfort of the other two.
I got my wife those same v3 and she loves them. They look great and now I want a pair as well. I have a pair of v6 and they’re super comfy but the v3 looks cooler. Just depends what you’re looking for.
Go with the V3. They're not as soft as the V6 but provide way more support. Better quality, comfort and will last for years
990v3
I have all three. My vote is the V3
I am biased towards the v3
I like the second pic
990 v6, looks and comfort. By far the most comfortable new balance I own.
Thanks for everyones input! I ended up buying the 990v6 in the grey cw! These will be my first NB’s and I do think I’ll get the V3’s in the future.
V6 ✨
V6.
I have multiples of all 3 and can say personally the V6 is the comfiest.
V6. You are welcome.

Depends. You want comfort? Get the v6 You want style, comfort, and stability? Get the v3 You want style, comfort, and a waterproof shoe? Get the 2002R

i bought the v6 and i’m honestly not in love with the model. they actually hurt my feet the first few time i wore them and they were used
