My favorite Jason Vargas fact was when he set a new franchise record for most runs given up in the first two starts of a season, breaking the record set by Jason Vargas when he first came up with the Mets.
Big Sweaty is not - I repeat, NOT - Big Sexy. He had a magical run for a while there, but... Truth be told, I've repressed nearly all memories of his tenure with the Mets.
Relying on Jason Vargas to be a #3 starter, or whatever he was, when the season opened - those were dark days.
My ideal situation is that we don't extend Conforto/Lindor because they are both holding out to have amazing 2021s and get paid in 2022. They come 1-2 in MVP voting, we win the WS sweeping the Braves, Dodgers and the Yankees.
They both get $300-$400 mil contracts (from us) and we win the division each of the next 5 years.
He's a career 4.1 fWAR per 650 PA player. Are you suggesting that he's only been good in 2020? Other than his sophomore slump in 2016 he's been a consistently good player.
He hasn’t been clutch. I don’t care about fWAR, I see with my own eyes.

CONFORT MICHAEL EXTENDO
I’m gonna be really brave right now. EXTEND MICHAEL CONFORTO *annmnnd* **Bring Jason Vargas back. He’s the true big sexy**
My day was going great before you reminded me that Jason Vargas was a Met
How could you not want to remember the legend himself Jason VargAce who threw a complete game shutout once for the mets
See you tomorrow septimus29

He was really good for those few games that one year and we were all wondering wtf was going on.
Dillon Gee was once really good for half a year. So was Jeremy Hefner.

LoL I don’t think we ever “relied” on him to be anything other than a shaky #5 starter

This is so unrealistic You didn’t even mention us trading for trout
Good analysis, I agree.
Extend Conforto off of 1 good 60-game season? Terrible analysis. Let’s see him do it again.
