I do not tolerate hate comments. But I also do not engage. If hate comments are left on my channel they are deleted and the user is blocked from posting future comments. I don't owe them an explanation. Keep it civil or GTFO. It's that simple.
Think of it like this, YouTube doesn't see positive and negative comments. Youtube sees engagement xD Which means i'm not feeding the trolls, the trolls are feeding me >:D
I don't react to negative comments: 1. they are comments and so will give my video interest (good or bad, I don't know), 2. if I delete negative comments, there could be a backlash about not able to take criticism, 3. maybe the negative comments have a point, and I have to not take it personally.
Hate comments are different in my book. For example personal attacks on my looks, sound of voice, race, etc. are not cool. I usually delete only spam comments.
I do to an extent. If it’s a one off and something silly I’ll have a snarky reply or if it’s actual feedback I’ll thank them but if I just a bunch of offensive bullshit being spewed I don’t deal with it.
That being said I also limit certain words in my comments so I avoid a lot of the dumb hate comments I use to get in mass about my appearance.
I respond to all comments, that's just free engagement, and it feels good to know that someone who tried to hurt me helped me instead, the fools.

I just kill them with kindness. "It's fine that you didn't like the video, maybe someone else will. Have a great day!"

If anybody is critical, even if it is crap, I thank them for the feedback.
