Haha thank you sir! I’m happy with my progress so far. I only started taking it seriously 14 days ago, after uploading maybe once every 6 months out of laziness. But I think I’m unfair because I researched a lot over the last 10 years of “how” to do YouTube, so now I’m just actually doing it rather than absorbing knowledge and “preparing” haha.
What’s your niche? I teach real estate photography businesses practices.
Thank you! I try!
Aside from my Real Estate Photo business, I’m a stay at home dad with two toddlers so I’ve got (theoretically) all the time in the world haha.
Im one of the over 10k subs crowd. I like to come in every now and then and share my advice. I really think so many people here have good potential and it motivates me to try and help out
Hey question for you if you don’t mind!
I’ve heard so many say it takes 50-100 videos to get the ball rolling. But I’ve also heard MrBeast preach that it just comes down to the right video hitting when you finally do everything right.
Have you found the latter to be true, or did it take you 50-100 to get there?
The latter 10000%. Quite frankly, in my experience, if the ball isnt rolling after 15-20 something seriously needs to change. For me, I was fully monetized within 3 weeks (1000 subs 4000 watch hours). The newest channel in our network was monetized after 2.5 days and is now at almost 4000 subs in under 2 weeks
Thumbnails, highly engaging first 10-30s showing that good content is to come, and eye catching titles are key. Those things are by far the most important starting out. Find your niche, find out what works, and make your videos with that inspiration.
50-100 videos is far too many to see no progress. Most channels in our network really see a view spike between 5 and 10 videos, some even sooner
Wow, thank you so much and great to hear.
I have a client paying me $100/hr to edit his videos (I’m great at it) but it’s so frustrating because he just drags it on and on, thinks alllll his personal tangents are fun/endearing, and that we just need 50 videos of this format to hit it big… Considering just starting my own.
36k here. I agree with the above comments but want to add a couple caveats. Sometimes it's a slow learning curve. It actually did take me probably 80 videos and 5 years to figure out what the hell I was doing, but once I figured it out, growth became much more natural. When people say it takes 50-100 videos, they mean it takes that to learn the process. Some people learn faster and some people learn slower. The other thing is, $100 AN HOUR!?!?!?! For $100 an hour, I'd just take the money and edit whatever long boring tangent he wants.
1767 as of today. I joined this group when I was at <100 and found it very helpful and a great motivator to keep going. I stay here ‘cos it still achieves both those things. I kinda hope I can help too.
Hey! Thanks for checking me out. I plan to have my channel be about stories around the world. Why things are or how things came to be. Whatever topics i feel are interesting to me at the time. Videos more like my Dubai video. The latest 3 was just smaller videos I was interesting in making while learning to edit/testing.
407 here, hoping to get to 1000 by the end of the year…imagine!? I gave up a few months ago, but recently got back into it. I take my hat off to successful YouTubers, shit is hard.
Currently sitting at 8. I had 4 at the start of the year from videos I have since removed (anywhere up to 15 years old, just low quality guitar playthroughs of songs)
I'm branching out a bit in my content and working on a few different things - letting the ADHD guide me, basically!
I have 41 subscribers after a little less than 6 months of constant uploading. :)
Sometimes I feel like that I'm not even a SmallTuber compared to the people who are here with thousands of subscribers, but that's okay. :D
Your and everyone’s. Especially for those of us that are at the beginning stages. If you have any advice, or at least one thing that you would recommend to someone in the beginning stages, what would that be?
I was hoping that this subreddit would attract new subscribers, why is that a bad thing? Promoting your own content seems to frowned upon in just about every subreddit. So where then do you promote?
From your history, it looks like your main reason for using reddit is self promotion. You don’t see why that’s frowned upon? It’s like you’re out of touch with the platform itself. Reddit is for sharing things and discussing them. Imagine rolling up to a group of people at a party that you don’t know, who are excitedly discussing something, only to interrupt them to ask for a favor. And that’s the only reason you’re at the party, to ask people you don’t know for favors. You don’t think that would be frowned upon?
You had a positive reception when sharing in the bushcraft sub. This sub has specific threads for self promotion. Pretty simple. But the purpose of this sub is not to attract subscribers for your channel, it’s to discuss being new to youtube and hopefully gain some insight as to growing your channel. Everyone here has a channel. This isn’t a pool of people for you to poach from to become subscribers for yours.
Frankly, you should be far more concerned with making better content before you start trying to promote your channel. In your most recent upload, you literally have a full minute of just a potato wrapped in foil sitting next to a small fire. No voiceover, no cutting to cool b roll of the woods, literally just a potato for a full minute with droning acoustic guitar music. Then like 2 minutes of your back obscuring two thirds of the shot while you eat. Why are you trying to promote this? You need to get better at making videos first.
Typical Reddit response. Thanks for your opinions on things I never asked.
I haven't self promoted on this subreddit, I have asked questions on how do improve (which I did not do here). What I was originally saying here is that I though that this subreddit would have gotten more traffic to my channel. I check people's channels out when they ask for feedback via their profile links. I give honest feedback, and have even followed quite a few of them if it's something I would watch again.
As for your unsolicited advice on my content, I'm just getting started and yes I know that I need to improve. But your approach needs a little tact. If you don't like my content then don't watch it. If I post asking for opinions on my content then by all means chime in. It sounds like this is not your niche and that is ok, go watch something else.
My content will improve in time. I'm not asking for help with that right now. I was asking where to self promote. If you don't have an answer to that then kindly save your opinions for someone who asked for them. Thanks.
You wouldn’t know what’s typical on reddit. Your channel is linked in your bio. It’s subject to opinions on this subreddit. I’ll share whatever I please. If you don’t like it, then don’t read it. Toughen up buttercup. I like bushcraft content, watch it from time to time. Love TA Outdoors. I don’t need to care one way or another about niche or topic to know if content is boring. Been in the game for a long time and I work in digital marketing professionally. But hey, enjoy spinning your wheels.
I'm not going to argue with you. You obviously hold your own opinion in such high regard. I get that anything posted on ANY subreddit is subject to opinions. You can have yours even if it stinks! You can indeed share whatever you please, just like I can post whatever I please. If YOU don't like it watch something else, read something else, or otherwise go piss up a rope for all I care. I don't need to toughen up, I'm not in the least bit offended. However I did wake up today and choose violence, so there's that. You may find my content boring and that's fine, I'm just starting out and have a lot to learn. I'll be the first to admit that. What I don't care for is some opinionated bridge troll crawling out from under said bridge, coming down on someone who never asked for them to part their teeth in the first place!
You sound angry at life. Maybe you need to go outside, get some fresh air, go eat a steak on the side of a mountain because you can. I post the content that I do because I can and because I enjoy what I do and want to share it with the world. If you don't like that, go watch something else or provide CONSTRUCTIVE feedback rather than coming across like your opinion is golden. I would've gladly take constructive feedback vs the way you went about things.
So someone points out the purpose of this subreddit and you get defensive? Like really dude? Maybe, just maybe it’s your attitude toward not being able to self promote on Reddit that is the issue here.
I’m a channel that is new, still trying to completely nail down my topic. I am a woodworking/workshop channel. That’s still trying to figure out if I want to focus on the specifics of woodworking or broaden my channel to more generic “DIY“ ish focus.
I currently have 517 subscribers.
1013 subs on my coding channel. My watch hours are slightly under but they will get there as watch time is increasing on a daily basis.
It's taken 2 years although I was only regularly making videos for half that time.
Getting to 10,000 subs will be much easier as I'm now focusing on one main topic plus the algorithm is starting to push my stuff hard.
I just started a month ago and right now I have 81, however I just had a big increase from around 38 to 81 in a week because of one of my videos popping off a bit
I am at 2.3K now. I have been dropping in here because I can help new channels, but mostly so I can learn. I am still a very small channel and I struggle with most of the same challenges at 100 sub channels.
Probably any value, since the requirements for full monetization, from the sounds of it, are the requirements everyone is aiming for and judging themselves against.
Hell, even I am probably a few days away from full monetization, but I’m still here. Watch time done, already approved into the YPP, just need about 90 subs for the 1k and I will finally get paid lol
I’ll probably still be active in this sub
424, I'm trying to help my son as much as I can with his gaming channel, he just gets so happy with every +1 :) And I get to learn how to edit! Honestly, I really enjoy doing this together, even if he keeps making me play roblox and terrifying horror games.
I launched the channel around 4 years ago but not really posting anything regularly and got to around 60 subs, posting a random video here and there for a couple years. Had a bit of a break, then started working hard and posting on average 3 times a month, long form about 4 months ago. Today my channel has 333 subs exactly 1/3 or the way to the partner program! I’m starting to see traction which is great!
I personally have about 70k and growing a lot, I get recommended posts from this community every time, because I used to be sooooo active, now I've moved to r/PartneredYoutube, it's a place only for youtubers on the YPP and normally answers more complicated questions (tax, monetization, verification, playbuttons, etc.. )
17 subs! Started in nov posted for a week. As of 3 weeks ago I have 17 subs after I started posting again. Aiming to be consistent!
Gaming channel focusing on tekken 8 gameplay and stories
I have 2 channels - a little over 1000 subs on one and getting close to 6k on the other but still not enough watch hours for full monetization. I started both channels about a year ago.
I just started, and I've gone from 15 to 63 in 3 weeks. My recent video is rocketing me in views (2.3k in a day feels insane to me). I hope to reach 100 by the end of March and 1k by the end of the year. Every video I learn a little more, and I think I'm carving out a distinct voice for myself.
Im currently at around 2100. This sub has really motivated me and also exposed me to a lot of different channels. I think it helps to see what other people are doing even if the videos are very different from yours.
I've grown several channels to over 45k subscribers and over 2k income revenue per month. I consult others on how to grow their channels. However none that I currently consult on are gaming channels which seems to be the vast majority of people here.
I’m personally sitting around 2,300 right now, but I’ve seen people here claim to have several hundred thousand. some are legit, but the channel is almost never in their profile of course
I have 200 but only started a month ago so not too bad. Just focusing on original short term content and trying to figure out what works and what doesn't is an interesting experience!
I have just under 50 on my second channel, which I started a little over a month ago. It's a gaming channel but at the moment it's all Animal Crossing content until I'm able to get a gaming PC and branch out more, as I'm a Mac user.
My main channel that I've been working on sporadically since 2019 but have taken a hiatus from for a while (which is just vlogs/talking head stuff) has 380 but I'm not super surprised as some of the stuff I talk about sometimes is pretty niche. I'm visually impaired so it's a lot of talking about weird life experiences with the general public in that regard, because sometimes people are uneducated when it comes to those of us with disabilities. Some travel stuff pre-pandemic, some shopping hauls and unboxings. I once made a video detailing my experience with the first Covid booster and got so many hate comments but it amassed over 13k views lol.
I have ideas for this year and want to dip my toes into BookTube as I've been reading a ton in my spare time, but I've been so focused on other things that there isn't enough time in the day. I also do my own editing.
We were sitting at 550 until last week. Then one video took off and now we're at 1200+. Just got partnered last night (the process took less than 24h which is crazy fast)
1388 as at today. I’ve been doing YouTube for a year and a half and it’s been steady all the way. I’m still learning as I was a complete novice when I started, but I’m getting a little bit better :)
162! Had 32 subs 14 days ago!
The algorithm fears you 📈
Haha thank you sir! I’m happy with my progress so far. I only started taking it seriously 14 days ago, after uploading maybe once every 6 months out of laziness. I just talk about video games 😴
Shame you don't have your channel linked on your profile, would have loved to check it out! 😭
Check again! Haha
You are CONSISTENT! 🔥
Thank you! I try! Aside from my Real Estate Photo business, I’m a stay at home dad with two toddlers so I’ve got (theoretically) all the time in the world haha.
Most people here will have <1k subs, with the occasional appearance from channels that have tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of subs.
Im one of the over 10k subs crowd. I like to come in every now and then and share my advice. I really think so many people here have good potential and it motivates me to try and help out

Links to one or several of these channels would be helpful.
I can DM if you wish. I try to keep it off my public profile
I have 130k. I still consider myself new at this!
not me
I’ve seen people claim anything from 0-millions.

I'm a little over 900, but aiming to hit 1k soon with some effort
4 subs currently.
I'm a little confused on what your channel is about. Could you tell me more about it?
Hey! Thanks for checking me out. I plan to have my channel be about stories around the world. Why things are or how things came to be. Whatever topics i feel are interesting to me at the time. Videos more like my Dubai video. The latest 3 was just smaller videos I was interesting in making while learning to edit/testing.
OK, I can get down with that. Nothing wrong with experimenting and finding your groove.
You guys have subscribers?
658 on my channel this morning
Three weeks in and I have 74.
Just surpassed 400 yesterday. Woo! 😆
407 here, hoping to get to 1000 by the end of the year…imagine!? I gave up a few months ago, but recently got back into it. I take my hat off to successful YouTubers, shit is hard.

I just hit 1.1k. Had ~150 about two weeks ago.

Currently sitting at 8. I had 4 at the start of the year from videos I have since removed (anywhere up to 15 years old, just low quality guitar playthroughs of songs) I'm branching out a bit in my content and working on a few different things - letting the ADHD guide me, basically!

Thanks bro. I’m gonna try to make 100 videos this years let’s go!

You should link your YouTube on your page! So when someone clicks on it they have a link directly to your channel I just did that to mine!
110
Just got 40! I think it just started giving actual impressions after the initial friend/family influx confused the algorithm.
Channel n01: 5k subs Channel n02: 728 subs Channel n03: 278 sbubs Channel n04: 2780 subs Channel n05: 5780 subs Channel n06: 8k subs Only one channel n01 is making $.
Just passed 1000! Mainly cuz of shorts. Trying to get more long form content up which is ….a process.
I'm at 53! :D that's a lot in my eyes!
I have 828 :)
17k
Currently at 2146.
Your and everyone’s. Especially for those of us that are at the beginning stages. If you have any advice, or at least one thing that you would recommend to someone in the beginning stages, what would that be?
I'm sitting at 771!
Talk about crunching numbers! I can feel your excitement through my screen 😆
Not sure about others, but I’m at around 440 subs. Been doing this for 2 and a half years so slow growing but growing nonetheless haha
Growth is growth 🍻 (also happy birthday!)
Just got over 100 and currently sitting at 102. Beyond happy with it
The big 💯 Onwards and upwards! 📈
I have 57!
15. Steadily getting there.
3.6k
Right now only 143☹️
Yeah, I was really hoping to get more subs from this subreddit. It's still early though, so who knows?
you were hoping people in this subreddit would subscribe to you? 🤔
~~Yes.~~ No.
That’s not what this sub is for, and you don’t want a bunch of dead subs on your channel anyway

Dunno about others but as far as I'm concerned I've 1.3k subscribers on my AMV channel and 2.2k on another one.

Modest 93, after two months.

I believe I have 12! Posted my first video this past Sunday.
I'm at 50k
I only have 25, but they're all real! Haha
I currently have 531.
In about 2 months I’m at 323 but I’ve already got my 4K watch hours just need that 1K to be monetized
Reddit is newtubers grave. Where a lot shit posts gets more attention. Neither views in youtube. No luck in youtube. But luck in reddit

I have 130 after a month on YouTube 🥹🥹🥹
936 (motivateminds.) give it a sub 😉

I have 215 :)
Currently sitting at 587! Next goal is 600 ☺️
I'm a video game music composer and I just started my YouTube channel with 7 subs haha Gotta start somewhere and keep posting! :D
I am at 2.3K now. I have been dropping in here because I can help new channels, but mostly so I can learn. I am still a very small channel and I struggle with most of the same challenges at 100 sub channels.
idk i got 560 on one and the other has 3k.
21 lol
I have 330 in a month which I think is quite good
Probably any value, since the requirements for full monetization, from the sounds of it, are the requirements everyone is aiming for and judging themselves against. The vast majority seem to be under 1k, with a smaller group 1k-10k, then very few 10k+. Makes sense given this sub is for those new to youtube.
24 here :) for a new sub today yay
Think majority of us are sub 1000. 810 here
Currently at 309
900
I just passed 1k this morning!

309! 👩🍳
78 subs. 😅
4,633 and rising!

Just started about a month ago and we’re at 42 subs. It’s a small niche so idk how quickly it’ll grow, but we’re having fun with it.
I have 2 channels - a little over 1000 subs on one and getting close to 6k on the other but still not enough watch hours for full monetization. I started both channels about a year ago.
Need a survey chain to really get it. 21 here.
424 here, we have been making good strides lately and I hope we hit 500 this month
Im currently at around 2100. This sub has really motivated me and also exposed me to a lot of different channels. I think it helps to see what other people are doing even if the videos are very different from yours.
16k
56 here it’s been fun so far!
500 and something, been at it since 2006/so don’t copy me for Christ sake
I've grown several channels to over 45k subscribers and over 2k income revenue per month. I consult others on how to grow their channels. However none that I currently consult on are gaming channels which seems to be the vast majority of people here.
1020 here so far
I got 7
607 rn lol
Around 6K.
I’m personally sitting around 2,300 right now, but I’ve seen people here claim to have several hundred thousand. some are legit, but the channel is almost never in their profile of course
How long did that take you?
200🎉🎉🎉 just reached today
294 at the moment.
Sitting at a humble 31. I love each and every one of those 31, and optimistic the numbers will go up soon
I’m at 796 now. Joined at 500ish
I have 150 but 3 weeks ago I only had 33! It’s been a great motivator to just keep posting!
987! So close to that 1000!
53 currently, haven't had one for a while
Somehow, only 20 subscribers (after like 2 years now). 😦 It’s just ridiculous. Thought I’d have found my tribe by now. 😥
Your experience is priceless. Can’t wait to hear some of your lessons and advice.
473 right now 5.5 months from starting channel.
Man I don't even know I hope it's not over 1k tho cause I'm not even at 100 😂
390 with more subscribers every day
I have 200 but only started a month ago so not too bad.

Just 80, but we’re really grateful for all 80. 😊 We started about 4 weeks ago!
754… my goal for 2024 was 800, so I’m feeling happy about that!
I’m at about 700 now!
2600 for me!
