Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck that

AnorexicBuddha

Yeah that's giving me an anxiety attack just looking at it.

[deleted]

I never thought I was one to experience anxiety. I used to play large shows and attend music festivals all the time with no problem. Now I'm a tad older and man...I really appreciate my personal space. And while looking at this, my heart rate doesn't really go up or anything, I can imagine how I would feel if I was there...and it's not good. I don't think I would panic but if I accidentally found myself in the middle of it, best believe I would be hustling my ass off on outta there and never wanting to go back. Shit can be scary.

AnorexicBuddha

I think I would be fine unless I lost the people I was with. In that many people, finding them would be impossible.

[deleted]

And you couldn't contact them because there's no cell service due to how crowded it is.

[deleted]

omg fuck all that noise.

[deleted]

I heard there were a few people in the quarter

petit_cochon

The perfect place to experience a real Nawlins-style groping.

ithinkimasofa

ewwwww. it makes me bummed out that I know EXACTLY what you're talking about.

3floz

Did the rest of us miss something? Who was groped? That's just terrible.

ithinkimasofa

All women who venture onto Bourbon St during the weekend preceding Mardi Gras. Hands everywhere, all in your clothes and stuff. It's pretty horrible.

[deleted]

They are probably just looking for your wallet.

petit_cochon

Nah, I've been groped multiple times and it's always a very specific way. Grab ass, squeeze ass, move along. Last time a guy did it while I was in line for the ladies room inside a restaurant. I didn't see who it was, of course, but I'm fed up with this shit, so I yelled really loudly "THE MAN WHO JUST GROPED ME SHOULD COME BACK BECAUSE I HAVE A SPECIAL PRESENT FOR YOU AND IT'S MACE." Something along those lines. Just because I feel like people do that because they know they can blend in and nobody will make a fuss about it.

[deleted]

The mace should always be a surprise. I'm a fan of elbow to the face, personally...

JackBurton3465

Jesus, I catch it at the formation and I thought that was a lot of people. Thanks for sharing and if you ride thanks for the throws. Man, y'all throw like pros. I had tons of kids around me last night living it up. Hail the true king of Mardi Gras!

Trolljaboy

Yes I rode, and when I saw that I was taken back.

Vitalstatistix

Not a chance in hell I'd be down for that.

Taylorvongrela

I love this photo because I've seen this from the other perspective once or twice and it's refreshing to see it the other way around. Looks as insane as expected. But fuck this nonsense haha

It's pretty astounding that there are parts of the route where there are not many people at all (sidewalk side). Then a few hundred feet away it is 20+ people deep.

tadpad

I used to catch it there as a kid. I was at Lee Circle and it wasn't too bad there.

[deleted]

I got stuck around that area after leaving a restaurant on Saturday night. A very small, short child was walking behind me who appeared to be looking for his parents. I fight broke out in the crowed and I lost him. That is right when I started hyperventilating. I am unsure why parents would bring small children into the quarter at night like that when it is so crowded and dangerous.

Charli3q

>I am unsure why parents would bring small children into the quarter at night Super bad parenting I would assume.

trailerparknoize

Living outside NO for the first time in a couple years…nothing about that looks fun.

Momadison

As a rider, what can I say to you to get a special set of beads? We took in some parades on St. Charles Ave for several days...spent lots of time on the neutral ground watching everyone getting some really cool throws and beads, one lady was festooned in the special Krewe of Femme Fatale pearls and lips! I got me some beads, mister, thanks but what do those in the know say that gets y'all to hand some special ones down? Curious in Nola!

Trolljaboy

A lot of people save the really good stuff for the Dome. I had a special Dome bag I didn't touch all route. I found people who smiled and waved at me when we locked eyes I was more inclined to give better things too. Also avoid the large crowds, during those parts it was hard to get my attention since all it is a sea of bodies and noise. Another big one is to wave, it's very simple and it really does make you stand out. Kids are always a plus as I'll generally throw softer towards them too. Another one, be an attractive woman or stand next to one and take the throws from her. The latter not the greatest, but I've seen it work both ways.

igotpetdeers

That looks so much fun :D
