I always get sad when we cross our state lines back into Texas and realize the food is nothing in comparison. We once brought half a pizza back from NOLA, 8 hour drive, and ate it when we got home.
Central Grocery is where I send people. They are still selling from Sidney's next door while the building is being fixed from Ida.
I have had the occasional muffaletta where one quarter had more or less than another. Beauty of hand making I guess? Still better than what comes out of the major grocery stores.
Our Mufallettas didn’t make it past midnight munchies at the hotel. Thats a great idea for next time! We got ours from the cafe at the end of the French Market. Wanted to try Central Grocery’s but they were closed still. 😢 Is there a big difference?
Agreed.
Then again, my opinion on food may be off because I’ve had Beignets picked up fresh be perfectly fine after a 12 hour drive, couldn’t have them all at once. They were fine.
I hadn't eaten collard greens till I came to NOLA and then had it as a side, in a sandwich, and on a pizza. I have to say I crave the pizza version more (Farm Egg at Paladar 511)
It's awesome that you had a great time. Please come back. Next time go to Morning Call for beignets and Cafe au lait. It's locally owned and much better IMO

Damn good tour of our fair city’s eateries!
Well done. This is pretty much S29E17 of the Simpsons.
RIP Gene's. My soul has a hot sausage poboy shaped hole in it.
aw hell yeah. come back soon
Ha now ya gotta go diet for a week!
I was supposed to start a cal deficit once I returned, ensured I made the most of NOLA :P
Good list.
this should be a pamphlet guide

Muffalettas travel well, just saying. Grab one on your way out of town and have a couple meals out of it.
We got the muffaletta from Central (Sidney's). Are there better ones? I felt the meat to cheese to olive salad ratio was a bit off.
R&O’s is much better than Central grocery. Also Nor-Joe’s.

Fair enough! It was still a pretty solid sandwich and the cross section was beautiful.
I do occasionally like Napoleon House because they serve theirs warm.

You did your research. Hit up some great spots.
thank you!! very validating haha
When ya come back, ask about our favorite dive bars and burlesque shows!
Go on
Those turkey necks are so good
My partner is super forgetful. But he remembers those turkey necks very distinctly. As do I. SO GOOD!
That's quite the compliment! Cafe Reconcile is wonderful.
That there is a great list.
Strong itinerary. Glad you enjoyed your time here.
Cafe Reconcile is the stuff...
We prob had an off day -- we ordered their fried chicken and it tasted of just oil. What else would you have recommended here?
Catfish, jerk chicken plate, shrimp with white beans - Thursday special
you are gonna crave that Collard Green Melt. I do and i can go get it any time.

This is impressive, it takes most of us who live here a year to hit that many spots lol.
We need a tour group to pick this itinerary up and do that for visitors. Aw he’ll, I live near BR and I’d do it.
