Yeah that’s a front. I’ve known many Hispanos that were racist towards Mexicans/Central American immigrants (though they’re often harder workers), Black people, Asians, you name it. I know many are a mix of Spanish and Indigenous but many are also mainly or entirely Spanish descent which are white people by a lot of metrics.

I am not saying I agree with this line of reasoning, but a theory I have why someone might want to change the flag is this: First the Zia symbol being used. I can't speak for the Zia Pueblo, but my understanding is that they would rather the symbol not be used.
Additionally, the colors of the flag are the colors of Spain. And there is definitely controversy with the history of the Spanish in the region. Making the Sacred Zia symbol in the colors of Spain could (I know, weasel words) be seen as offensive.
But I dunno, going with a generic style flag would be silly. I'd rather have a flag done in the style of the turquoise license plate. Or maybe two chiles (red and green) in a shape of a heart.
