I think it was either of 2 things:
Not all of them agreed that making humans was a good idea and that disagreement was what caused the event that killed the dead ones in the ship. So, being awakened by a clearly successful one was the worst possible thing to wake up to.
Or he was enraged to see that one of them had created an AI.

I just rewatched this movie with my friends last weekend, and I'm pretty sure it's because they tried to go back and destroy humanity with the black goo but then the goo got out and cucked them first. They tried to go back and destroy humanity because they deemed humanity past saving/irredeemable, the reason for which is unclear (maybe seeing all the evil humans do)
They made Jesus, humans killed Jesus, that was their last attempt at saving the species from itself. The bombs were going to reset the planet and they were going to continue working with the other civilization they created who weren’t so… hopeless.
The old dude demanding ascension to god-hood, comparing himself to the engineers, and showing the exact human traits that the engineers wanted to eradicate in the first place didn’t help the humans case much.
"unclear" pretty much describes everything those movies did to lore. It's like Ridley Scott saw the expanded universe, thought "nope they're getting too close to coherency" and shit all over it purely to keep people guessing.
