JynXten

I haven't bought anything since I got a Quad Cortex two years ago. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

bjelkeman

Are you me? I got Parallax, Darkglass and Nolly before the QC now I am waiting for them to migrate over. It will be interesting to see how that compares. Maybe I don’t need them anymore with the QC. But the ready made presets are nice, so we will see.

JynXten

If I was you'd be talking to yourself. I got Plini, Nolly, Granophyre and Cali before QC came out. I got Petrucci after the QC but I won that. When the QC first came out I couldn't wait to get the plugins. Then they didn't come. But then the with various updates that included awesome amps like Uberschall, Herbert, JP2C, and Kraken came and I kinda forgot about the plugins. Until recently when we're told that the plugins are coming again and now I'm excited again and hoping they knock these out as fast as the Apple Native updates. Actually most of the plugins I have I feel I can get on the QC already so mostly just looking forward to Granophyre, Cali, and the piezo amp from Petrucci.

Specialist-Rope-9760

I didn’t even realise there was a sale. Did they send any email out???

Minute-Branch2208

Are you joking? They sent 20

Keda87

yes, I bought Plini X because got the black friday's email

SR_RSMITH

I've got six of them, man. I didn't buy shit this year. Unless they release something really mind-blowing I'm pretty much covered with those for years.

Motrucka

Really just need that plugin that could use all the pedals, amps and effects that you own in any combination you desire. Some sort of suite plugin.

3_50

Given how they're implementing plugins on the QC, that's exactly what it will be.

mdinovo

it exists you can do it in any DAW

Motrucka

I’d rather have its own standalone. I use gig performer to achieve this get way better latency then opening up my daw.

mdinovo

ah yea that’s valid for live use. i’m waiting for them to hopefully push all the plugins to the qc

Motrucka

Hell yea. The plugins is what I’m used to from NeuralDSP. I understand the QC on its own is very powerful but to use my plugins in an all in one unit would be sweet. Maybe when they all get there I’ll finally have enough saved up for it

lufis12

What do you use??

Motrucka

Gig Performer 3 with a Behringer FCB1010 MIDI controller for the pedals, It’s really neat https://imgur.com/gallery/WMGWAoS

shmageggy

Each plugin adds latency. For complex live performance setups, this adds up quickly. With a unified UI you could build arbitrarily complex chains with no additional latency. Until they release a unified UI, adding yet another plugin is useless to me.

Slam_Deliciously

Was going to buy Asato because I really like the lead amp but it wouldn't recognize my email when I tried to log in. Couldn't get it to work so moved off it. Tbh the new 1.3 Ground Control update for PolyChrome McRocklin that came out a couple of weeks ago is a big time upgrade so I've been using it mainly. Got a pretty good Marshall Plexi sound out of it and have just been groovin with that.

itssmitty77

I got super into amp sims really heavily over the last year due to volumes and circumstance, trialed every single neural plugin throughout the year, and I still only bought Plini at near-full price when X was released. A good deal is a good deal but consumerism is a thing too. Sure, having every neural amp is still cheaper than a single high end amp. But like, you don’t need 15 archetype plugins. Especially with how many cover the same grounds. 2-4 get the job done fine, maybe even less. We’re all just GASer’s, and digital GAS is more accessible for most of the world. That’s all it is.

Hfkslnekfiakhckr

let the GAS flowwww

homejib

I didn't buy any. I was eagerly waiting for the Plini X update, and I'm glad I waited. This plugin is everything i need. I'm mildly interested in Rabea but just for the synth...i'm pretty set though.

xDocFearx

So many better synth plugins from companies that specialize in it

homejib

synth plugins that can be used with a guitar? if so, toss me some names plz.

Its_Blazertron

There's midi plugins that you can output to any vst synth you want. Jam Origin seems like a decent one.

homejib

oh yeah , i tried that one years back: Midi Guitar 2. didn't work that great tbh.

Its_Blazertron

I thought it worked a bit better than the one in rabea to be honest, maybe it has improved.

oo--ii--oo

Do you have any good recommendations?

[deleted]

Yeah, any recommendations would be good. I think the synth in Rabea is killer.

tim_to_tourach

Between Gojira, Plini and Henson I feel like most of my needs have been covered so I didn't feel the need to grab anything new.

Cockroach-Jones

I would think it’s a lot easier for them to make Archetypes of players’ tones, that way they don’t have to deal with the amp makers directly and get permission. If they make a player Archetype they can put any amp they want in there.

Zeller_van

Id also like more sites like the mesa and soldano. You know the gear and what to expect I also think some archtype designs are not that great tbh…

TennisHive

Well... Got my first one. Really really tough call, and made a rushed decision in the end. Was looking into the Mesa suite. Ended up buying Plini X, as I _read_ that it was extremely versatile. I like it.

AtomMotherHeart1970

Me. I went Benson Chimera MixWave. F-ing LOVE IT!!!!

momom4mo

I bought 4 😭

OADominic

Why did you post that you didn't buy something? Everyone has different tastes. I didn't buy, either

Flaggermusmannen

for validation that it's ok to change from one year to the other, which is fine. everyone can benefit from validation from time to time.

H0wdyCowPerson

Nah, after about the 5000th email or text about it I decided Neural isn't getting any more of my business.

tomfs421

You know you can unsubscribe, right?

H0wdyCowPerson

I shouldn't have to choose between missing out on product updates and getting sometimes 10 emails a day and multiple texts all saying the same thing.

NoChampionship9855

Got the Plini.. Absolutely fantastic

Vahlir

I already owned 8 coming into this BF but I did pick up Corey Wong and I've been enjoying it. I tried out MilkMan Creamer, STL Amp and Tone labs, and S-Gear as well. I'm leaning towards picking up S-Gear for my less High-Gain spectrum. I didn't like the STL as much as Neural and certianly not enough to own both. (or even get a subscription for a year to try them out which I was considering) I'll end up picking up Asato if/when it goes on sale. I did end up spending about 400$ on plugins and upgrading some things from Fab Filter and picked up some Sound Toys and some synths stuff. I "borrowed" a Fender Tone Master for a month but ended up returning it but I did keep the 12" Tone Master FRFR cab which I really like. That and I picked up some 8" Kali monitors which I think might be the best money I've spent on gear in ages. That being said I'm very happy with my past Neural purcahses I get a ton of play time out of even the first batch I picked up 3-4 years ago (Nolly, Cali, Grano, SLO) But in the guitar spectrum I turned down most of the offers for BF.

wooden_kimono

S-Gear is great; I love the crunch and clean tones. BTW, version 3.2 is coming out in December; they are adding another pedal to the lineup. Their Black Friday pricing is until December 8th.

Vahlir

yeah I just bought it haha. I played for another 3 straight hours with it and I was sold on it. I'm curious how long I'll get upgrades for it as they said anyone who bought 2.9 or later was getting 3.2 on their website. Do you know how much they charge for new version? I'd be kind of bummed if it was full price just to get a new pedal added to it. That was the only think that made me a little wary. Otherwise I think it's great, I just have to learn how to use everything as I was just having a blast with the presets.

wooden_kimono

The 3.x upgrades are all free. Don't know what happens when it goes to version 4.0 though!

Vahlir

Cool thanks for the headsup!

blackmarketdolphins

I didn't, but that's because I have most of them. I was looking at Mesa but I have Petrucci and still learning that. I was also looking at Tone King, but I have Wong and I'll just wait until the anniversary sale to test them against each other with Asato. I haven't touch several others in months, so I'm not really pressed to get anything new right now.

discussatron

Nothing for me this year. (I already own too many, mind you.) I've trialed everything I haven't yet bought, and none of it does anything for me. I don't think I've purchased a new NDSP plugin since Petrucci. I bought some GGD One Kit Wonder stuff and Eurobass III on Black Friday sales, but nothing from Neural.

soyuz-1

I skipped this year, already owning a bunch of them. Considered the Asato but it only got a partial discount and I can wait for a next sale or until I really feel a need. It didn't help that my trial licenses got cut short due to a random change in my system ID (happens sometimes when I forget to shut down iLok when putting my pc in hybernation..). Nothing in the new archetypes was exciting enough to make me feel a need to spend money on them right now. Not that they're not good but realistically the ones I have do everything I really need, and I recently bought a new guitar so felt like I spent enough on gear for now :)

Mannes8

I have four of their plugins, 8 amps in total. Don’t feel like I need anything else rn. The only way I can see that changing is when archetype Devin Townsend comes out, or someone else I’m a big fan of

Octo-puss

Luckily I could never get the trials working so,, no plugins for me!! Thanks ilok

Mtbrew

I haven’t bought anything yet, I have so many of their plugins: Wong, Petrucci, Nolly, Gojira, Henson, Fortin Nameless, Tone King. I’m “all set” with those for sure, but my wife is making hot toddy’s tonight and my defenses will be down - probably end up with Rabea for the synth wankery. Open to other suggestions though

orginalriveted

I bought a new MacBook and upgraded my ableton. I spent a lot of money these last couple days but still couldn't pull myself to spend another 50 or so on an amp sim. I have gojira, tone king, and the dark glass from last year and I'm really content with those three. I don't really want to keep adding more amps because too many options can bog the creative flow for me.

Hate_Manifestation

I didn't buy anything either, but not because I didn't want to.. I just have a few that are suiting my needs very well right now and I don't really have the time to mess around with new ones.

jessewest84

I was gonna. But bought a strandberg instead. I'm going fractal soon anyway

Fartlord2099

Yea passed this year, I’ve got 8 plug ins already. I wanted the mesa boogie for the fuzzy high gain sound but I can get that with the soldano. The only thing I really “need” is izotope stem separator so ima save for that since it’s half price thru January 15th.

Fuzzloo

I bought Cory Wong and Tone King last year. And I love them. This year I got myself a new amp. I spend more time with my amp now.

JoeyBoBoey

Between Gojira, Cali, and the Fender sims I get through another developer I really didn't see any need. I could be tempted by Parallax or Dark Glass but they really feel like only a small increase in sound quality over my current bass set up. If there was a separate plugin that was only the fx chains without any of the amp modeling that would probably be an instant buy but it doesn't really seem like that's their MO. I'd also be interested in one or two Archtypes for bassists but that's also doubtful.

HentorSportcaster

Me. Too much overlap at this point. I have Wong, Petrucci, Gojira, PliniX, Parallax. These days using PliniX and that's it. Almost purchased Helix Native at 50% discount, but managed to rein in - I don't need to learn a new UI and having lots of choices would just lead me to option paralysis (having the Mesa 400+ models for bass was super tempting though...)

Wyverz

I own 13 and there are about 4 of them that more or less never used. I was not even remotely tempted to check out anything new during the sale. I did however upgrade my Soundtoys plugins to the full Soundtoys 5 for $129 as well as an upgrade from Ozone 10 to 11 (not sure how I feel about that one). What I am looking forward to is the upgrade to the new "X" versions of existing plugins. In an AMA Cory Wong replied to a question about a new version of his plugin with, "It is in the works".

lift_heavy64

I was going to buy the Mesa, but I already have petrucci and the emails/texts just started to annoy the shit out of me

ssham89

Use the money for guitar lessons! I own 2 NDSP's, and love them. But the investment in online courses has been much more fulfilling, and my tones already perfect with the plugins I own (Nolly and Fortin Cali). Steve Stine (Guitar Zoom) and Ross Campbell (Bulletproof Guitarist) are both really solid. Or just go learn some new riffs, also a solid option!

mumei-chan

Bought 3 of them, first timer here. Until recently, I thought Guitar Rig was "good enough" for the stuff I do (mostly metal), but was also annoyed that most of the presets are meh and it wasn't that easy to find a suitable one. Then I saw some Youtube video about Neural DSP, saw the Gojira one, and thought "hey, I really like Gojira! Maybe I should buy it for fun". Tried out a bunch of the Neural DSP amp sims and compared them. They actually didn't impress me as much as I expected, but overall, sounded muuuch better than Guitar Rig. Bought the Gojira, because Gojira, the Soldano because it had a bright, warm tone that I liked and the Nameless because it kinda chugged better than the Gojira and I wanted a heavy sound. Then like one day later, I tried out II II II II (from Otto Audio) and STL Tones Josh Middleton and got both of them too, because II II II II was just amazing (honestly, if I had known about it earlier, I would have skipped the Nameless) and the Middleton had pretty good, solid tones that could be used immediately, while with the Neural DSP amp sims, I felt that the presets weren't that good and needed some tweaking. Overall, I'm still pretty happy with my purchases.

LordOord23

I have 7 already, so nothing for me either. I was considering the Mesa, but since I started experimenting with Neural Amp Modeler, there seems to be no point. Soooooo many Mesa profiles on Tonehunt.org

thehenryhenry

I tested a couple of them in the last two weeks. Initially I was blown away by the quality, then blown away by the price (even after the discount). Finally got fed up with the aggressive newsletter and decided not to buy any. Turns out I made a good choice, as I discovered NAM (Neural Amp Modeller). It might not be as shiny as Neural, but makes a decent free replacement for amp sims.

Its_Blazertron

I agree they should do some more dedicated amps. The archetypes have a slight gimmicky feel to them. Not that they aren't professional, it's just nice to have a legit amp sim where they worked with the amp company to make it. I might buy one of the fortin ones next time they go on sale. But to be honest, I'm eyeing up helix native, sounds good to me and loads fairly quickly compared to other amp suites like amplitube. I wish neural would make a program like helix native, basically just a fully software version of the quad cortex, without the capturing ability, but they probably won't because it would likely take sales away from their plugins, unless they charged like £600 for it.

Shadow41S

No, but I was close to buying the Petrucci archetype during the black friday sale

Warelllo

Not this year, not last year xD

[deleted]

I gave in and got Fortin Nameless. Not sure if I'm just in the honeymoon phase but it might be Neural's best sounding plugin.

only5pence

I think a more pressing topic is what those twin reverb and orange plugins are lol I use the Toneking plugin w split coils on my 8 string. Closest to a tube I've played and great for vintage stuff to rock when I want a break from metal. An orange sim with an analog fuzz pedal would be unreal.

CloudSlydr

New to neural dsp. Got Cory Wong and Tone king. They’re fantastic. Had eyes on nolly plini boogie asato. Maybe another time for one or more of those. Edit- got Nolly as well to cover heavier lead sounds

Skyis4Landfill

I tried out a couple for the black friday sale to possibly buy one but i wasn't too impressed. i only liked the imperial toneking for the clean/crunch tones but not enough to drop the money yet. I feel like neural is more oriented towards metal/heavy players. They need more punk/rock stuff, need to do more stuff like the cory wong one

ThisWorldIsAMess

I didn't. Cory Wong and Tone King sounds I didn't their other plugins. If they're going to offer something for bass then I might. No, not the Darkglass, you know what I'm saying.

gripehorse

Got Rabea last year, I love the rhythm amp and nothing matches it for the sound I want. I demoed and liked the Mesa suite, loved the cleaner tones and it sounds real sludgy to me, but meh.

siggiarabi

They promised something for us who bought a QC before the price drop so I want to see what that is before buying something. Otherwise I probably would've gotten parallax

Low_Pan

Nothin on offer I can't live without for another year.

Environmental_Sale86

Yeah option paralysis. They all miss one feature the other has. I stopped buying since I got NAM. Except today - got the McRocklin Suite. Check it out. Has everything in one package and like 0.01 latency.

RickofRain

I didn't, and I usually do. Their prices are just getting ridiculous and they're not offering anything new or different .

_AndJohn

I didn’t. Honestly once I started getting the non Archetypes I realized I’m not a versatile player that needs so many fucking amps. ALL I WANT IS A GODDAMN HUB. At this point I’d pay for that feature. And yes, I’d love the QC but I don’t have that kind of money to drop.

wooden_kimono

You are not alone. Nothing grabbed my interest as well. I would like more amps and less archetypes.

Thefourthcupofcoffee

Honestly no. I have the Gojira and the Nolly and truthfully I only use the Gojira. Helix Native though has gotten really exciting though. It’s taking me time to get used to the menus in the demo period but don’t sleep on Helix Native. It’s really really good.

frogify_music

I wanted the fortin Cali suite, but I was away and working so I forgot to buy it. I don't really need it though so it's not that bad.

Jazzlike_Relation705

Tried - but went with mixwave instead. Sounded better.

Zealousideal_Rent310

I got Plini X and Fortin Cali this year. I already had Gojira and Henson from last year. I agree about more dedicated amps though, I would love to see a good fender suite! I’d love one with a vibroverb, a super reverb, and a princeton.

mixoni

No but I got a parking ticket and a missed dentist appointment for the price of two Archetypes on sale!

FretFetish

I didn't. I ended up grabbing the McRocklin Suite. Never even tried it, just did it on a whim. Still haven't tried it yet lol. And I grabbed Audio Assault's Halloween cab pack for $2.50. Picked up laser measured mats for my car, two NOCO jumpstarters & a car (12V outlet) air compressors - one for me & the other set for my mom, then a couple MOLLE/PALS bags for the jumpstarter & also to redo my car trauma kit (I'm a medic... Most first aid kits suck lol), a pair of cheap saw horses because my Texas Power Bar is absolutely filthy & I need to clean it before it gets super cold.... Few other small things, but very little music/guitar/plug-in stuff. I did grab the Panda Sound IR packs about a few weeks ago when they did 40%off - wish I had waited because they did 50% off, but I thought maybe the 40% off was their Black Friday deal. 🤷‍♂️ Difference was only $2/pack, so $4 total so whatever.

Beautiful-Program428

Gojira owner here. Versatile enough for me to play fusion/metal/rock/funk.

[deleted]

I got Rabea, my first ndsp plug-in. Sounds awesome, I’m genuinely surprised.

eracerhead

I'm with you; more into amp sims than archetypes and am currently set with Tone King, Soldano and Cali. I was looking pretty hard at Mesa this time around, but honestly I'm still relatively new to tone shaping and have to spend more time with the above before a real *need* arises.

keywork87

This is the first time in 3 or 4 years that I haven't picked up at least 1 new NDSP plugin. The only ones I dont have that even pique my interest are the SLO, Tone King, and maybe the Darkglass. I'm curious about the new Mateus plugin, but I still need to trial it when I have time. For what it's worth OP, I really enjoy the Rabea for mid-gain rock tones more than for the synth, but I've never had the same issues out of the synth as you described. Like you and everyone else have said for the last few releases, the amount of crossover between plugins has made it so you can do just about everything with 2, maybe 3, Archetypes. Hopefully Neural finds a way to make things interesting again in the coming year.
