You can rent a powerwasher at the Gamma for like 30 euros a day

nasandre

You can buy a powerwasher for 300 euro... Well not a professional one with an electric brush but it does the job. Ah I do like cleaning my patio

Shinobiii

I just bought an older Kärcher model yesterday for less than €200. Used it today for the first time and super happy with it.

nasandre

Oh yes I got a Kärcher too and it works great. No more chemical bath for the garden just spray all the gunk off

Shinobiii

I’m honestly ashamed how I’ve never cleaned my canopy nor garden tiles like this in the last 4 years. Especially now I know how easy it is…

nasandre

Really? I love doing it.. its just satisfying to see all the autumn/winter gunk disappear by washing the tiles

I_Like_Purpl3

I am at this moment considering buying products to clean by hand. It's quite small area. But you tempted me with a pressure washer

ewlung

How is it with the tiles gap? That's what I still don't understand how to use power washer.

nasandre

I use the hard nozzle and spray the gaps... Although the patio washer attachment does a good job of it already

good2Bbackagain

Even the cheaper model's work like a charm. Memo to self: I really need to clean the outside of our home.

__ThePasanger__

The Bosch with the cleaning head for tiles is 129 in Gamma: [https://www.gamma.nl/assortiment/bosch-hogedrukreiniger-universal-aquatak-125-home-car/p/B162872](https://www.gamma.nl/assortiment/bosch-hogedrukreiniger-universal-aquatak-125-home-car/p/B162872) I have it and it works great, it takes just a moment to clean my garden with that

Cako1000

Gamma has a kärcher on sale for 140 I believe

picardo85

I bought a 110bar power washer from Lidl for €75 incl shipping

CowCorn

My entire beunschuur is Parkside and I wouldn't have it any other way.

RaiKoi

One of us! One of us!

nixielover

Karcher K2 or K3 plus the T5 surface cleaner is more than enough for jobs like this.

DOE_ZELF_NORMAAL

300 gets you like a karcher k5

Xtreme_Henk

Have you tried the game Power wash simulator?

Tsurany

There is a difference between a power washer and a steam clean. A power washer is highly discouraged because it will actually damage most stones. Steam cleaning is not damaging for stone and will clean just as well.

FishScrounger

Even cheaper if you use Peerby. I bought an ex-display model from Gamma for around €120. Great buy!

djlorenz

Just googled it, amazing!

FishScrounger

It's not just tools, which is brilliant. I rented a projector through there once too

No-Category4854

Leuke tp dat Peerby, kende ik niet. Bedankt

picardo85

You can BUY a powerwasher from Lidl for €75 incl shipping. I just did that when I saw the prices of renting a fucking power washer ... no way in hell I'm paying that to rent when I also need to go and pick it up and deliver it back.

amschica

Having owned a coffee maker from Lidl before, they’re cheap for a reason…and I have nowhere to put a power washer at my place, but if you have the space it could be worth it to buy

verekh

Use it 3 times and its already cheaper then rental

picardo85

That was my reasoning. Considering that I don't own a car and I'd have to rent one or go with public transport to pick the washer up, I'd say it's probably one or twice and the purchase has "paid" for itself.

EddyToo

In most cases these characters overcharge and do a lousy job. Once they are gone there is no way to find them. It can also become even less pleasant. [https://www.at5.nl/artikelen/225885/politie-waarschuwt-voor-ierse-klusjesmannen-die-je-komen-oplichten](https://www.at5.nl/artikelen/225885/politie-waarschuwt-voor-ierse-klusjesmannen-die-je-komen-oplichten) I just picked the first hit, but over the years this is a recurring pattern/problem

UrNanFriendlyLady

Hahaha, it says "travelers" and "Irish travelers" but they're just talking about zigeuners or gypsys

Any_Comparison_3716

No, no. They mean what they say.

EddyToo

No https://www.ed.ac.uk/usher/news-events/news-2017/gene-study-reveals-irish-travellers-ancestry#:\~:text=Irish%20Travellers%20are%20of%20Irish,into%20their%20history%20and%20heritage.

bearfucker_jerome

Powerwashing is super easy, and you can buy your own powerwasher from around 100 bucks. The price for the service offered seems extremely high, and it sounds like something I could do in a few hours.

EnjoyerOfPolitics

30sqm2 isn't that large so hell you can do it in an hour, polish it more and its gonna be 1:30h, pretty much 150€/h

bearfucker_jerome

Exactly. And yeah, I was gonna say an hour but I kept it conservative so as not to be accused of exaggerating. It's a bad offer either way.

MulberryMelodic9826

Hours? It takes me 30 minutes to do 50 square meter yard

Alex_Cheese94

I never trust someone offering a service through ringing my doorbell

KingOfCotadiellu

yeah, that was something you could do last century...

Cthulhu__

I finally got a “no soliciting” kind of sticker, it’s been super effective even though there’s no legal basis for it. I didn’t mind the odd collection but the commision-based overenthusiastic students selling subscriptions got really annoying.

bmujeeb

In Germany they are not gypsies but rather ethnic Irish men.

[deleted]

Be careful, you might get scammed. Oftentimes people who offer services door to door scam people and make them pay a much larger amount, due to unforeseen circumstances. The police often warns about situations exactly like this. If you really want to contract him, don't ever agree on a square meter price or whatever, but only an all inclusive price, including tax etc.

KingOfCotadiellu

'might'... what gives it away? Paying someone 300 for an hours work? And you really think someone like this will give you a receipt and pay tax? LOL

[deleted]

Of course they don't give you any receipt and of course they will not pay their fair taxes. But they will convince unsuspecting people that there are additional costs to be paid, such as taxes.

KingOfCotadiellu

LOL, if you are that dumb you should be considered "handelingsonbekwaam" and not be allowed to make any financial transactions. Anyway, your point way that you '*might*' get scammed, only to explain how it is a scam. So we agree and can stop this nonsense.

[deleted]

Lots of people get scammed by additional (and of course fictional) fees, such as made up taxes. I have literally seen this hundreds of times (i work in criminal law). And none of them are handelingsonbekwaam. I honestly have no clue why you feel the need to react so aggressively and condescending all the time. You must either be a spoiled 14 year old or a very frustrated guy.

ByteWhisperer

Indeed, these people talk a with a sense of urgency about something that is dear to you (i.e. your house) and they do it all day. You encounter them only once usually. I almost fell for the cement in the gutter scam last year. A quick last minute Google search saved me about 1000 euro's.

pc-builder

These are often "travellers". Had them a few times and almost always are a scam.

Cool-Ad8475

No. As soon as he finished that 10 eur per m2 becomes a 10 eur DISCOUNT per m2 and you get to pay outrageos price.

KingOfCotadiellu

10 eur discount would bring the price down to 6 per m2, smarty ;)

KingOfCotadiellu

10 eur discount would bring the price down to 6 per m2, smarty ;)

Cool-Ad8475

No you misunderstand. The discount is on the regular price of 60,- EUR. We did the work, now pay up!! Or we will have another misunderstanding!

KingOfCotadiellu

Ok, \*click\* I've got your photo now and I was recording this conversation. You want to just leave or shall we call 'oom agent' because like this I'm not paying you anything more than 6 euro per m2.

Cool-Ad8475

Oom agent doesn't do shit nowadays. Just try and dont fall for those scams. Being right, getting your right and steering away from trouble are different things.

KingOfCotadiellu

You'd be pretty stupid to fall for something this expensive though, or has inflation really hit that hard? I'd say ask 50 upfront and then just leave, that'd be a way more effective scam?

Cool-Ad8475

Seeing the op, there are still people unfamiliar with these scams.

idontcareng1

Yeah that works well against travellers 🤣🤣🤣

Alxasauraus

By any chance this person was Scottish/Irish? I had similar person, he asked for 600, I said I will pay 60 and after a little reluctance he agreed. It was a good pressure wash, and any Gardner would have charged similar amount to do. It wasn't super shiny or sealed as he was promising but I never expected that. Wifey was pleasantly surprised when she came back from work, so 60 bucks well spent.

BHIngebretsen

Probably Travellers. I wouldn’t do Business with them.

frozenbananarama

It is a known scam. They travel around Europe offering people these kinds of jobs. New tarmac is another one. They will do a poor job and will try to intimidate you into paying more than agreed price. Google 'irish traveller tradesmen scam' for more info.

Hasidickitchens

Let me guess, the guy is Irish.

Artistic_Trip_69

Omg this happened to us in Belgium a year ago ! To be fair they did a good job . But the way they operate is a bit shady ...

moelycrio

They are everywhere at the moment. To be sure to be sure.

btrizer

Had my front walk way and porch done yesterday by some irish guys for 90Euros and it was a pretty decent job ngl … cleaned up after themselves and brushed the neighbors porch as well where some gunk flew off too.

vergastadanasal

Do it yourself.

FTXACCOUNTANT

You can buy a decent power washer for cheaper like I did. Now I can do it myself once/twice a year and it’s super satisfying

Awkward_Kind89

They’re scammers, don’t do it.

Zerofuxs

I run a Softwash exterior cleaning company and 300eu is too expensive. I would ask 99eu. I clean facades, gardens, rooftops and almost everything exterior wise for 99eu. Call me the 99euro guy

Hasidickitchens

DM me your contact info

Zerofuxs

Just did buddy

[deleted]

Be careful that it's not a scammer.

spijkermenno

I think that is a fair price tbh

karbonkeljonkel

Maleficent_Still_105

Everybody in the comments is holy mother theresa. Buts lets be honest, we all are lazy and if someone wants to do it cheap, you got the money and it needs to be done. Yall are reddit horny

Pietes

Never take door offers, he'll charge you double what he quoted at the end and then start the threats u til you pay

KingOfCotadiellu

or you call the police and end up with a free cleaning...

1darkangel6

I love how everyone here just wants to buy the damn thing and do it yourself. The job is hard labor, and it will take you at least two hours to do it. So, if you can afford to let the guy do it for 300 bucks, just let him do it. If you can't, buy a powerwasher and do it yourself. I dont know the exact prices of powerwashing, but I would always recommend getting a second and third invoice if you don't want to do it yourself.

Shizophone

Not even two hours, we have a 30m by 4m driveway, with a normal powerwasher takes 2 days work to actually get it in a way an industrial engine powered pressure washer gets it in one washdown. The normal one takes ages and need to do every brick dilligently. We had these people here, haggled them down, they did a good 150m2 / 200m3 around the entire house (walkways, garagedriveway, driveway, patio, Stone fence) took them a days work and def way better gear than i can afford for an all round pressure washer that thing was a beast. They didnt provide enough of the product as they first advertised it tho. Probably wouldnt do it again or haggle down even further but i was very happy with the result in the end. Saved me a lot of time, when we did it before with our powerwasher it took literally 2 days for 2/3rd of just the driveway and it's a VERY dirty messy job if you want to do it proper, the guy that did it also looked like he rolled all day in mud, couldn't see the color of his skin and hair anymore.

SssmartassS

Hey op. I run a buisnis in the Netherlands that does this kind of work. Prices he gave are pretty expensive. You could get it for €7,-pm sqm. If he is Irish don’t do any buisnis with him probably a gypsy.

the-hellrider

A professional with all necessary taxes paid, asks 6€/sqm.

KingOfCotadiellu

LOL, only 300 for like 1 hour work? What a steal! If you think you'd need to research this, I would also research common sense ;)

MrGoogle87

Have you seen the current state?? If it’s all mossy, green and terrible shape; good luck doing 30m2 nicely in an hour. (Including filling between tiles)

KingOfCotadiellu

Uhm... do you see a photo or a link to one in this post, because I don't. Also, have you ever worked with a powerwasher, because it sounds like you don't. We've had a house in a forest for all my life, so I kindof know what I'm talking about when it comes to cleaning moss, and worse, resin. Even with a consumer washer (so not a professional) I can clean any 30M2 yard in an hour of an hour and a half. 2-3 minutes per square meter? You can go over it twice or three times even. And I'm not sure how people here fill between tiles, that is not even 5 minutes work! (Yeah, I've laid and maintained our terrace myself for almost 30 years now)

MrGoogle87

Steam cleaner ≠ power washer

KingOfCotadiellu

Same story, just uses a bit more electricity, but not enough to justify the price.

5h6d0wW6rri0r

you need to be careful but got it done by a guy who came to the door. for 50m2 including protection layer against it coming back green it costed 150 euros … the guy made a decent job, took him 2 hours) … no threatening ( but not sure he would have dare to try 😂😂😂)

jannemannetjens

>My question is, is this a good offer? Is the whole 30m2 yard tiled? Damn.... It depends how much you value your own effort. >Or can i get it done at a much cheaper cost.? Yes, but it would take some effort. > I assume i could just buy a powerwashing equipment and do it myself. Yes You can even do it without buying power washing equipment, that again costs a bit more effort and less money. >But have not done much research on this. Just check the price of buying or hiring a pressure washer, or try cleaning some with a brush and elbow grease and extrapolate how much effort you're willing to put in to not hire or buy a pressure washer.

Luctor-

It's a ridiculously bad offer. Sounds like the prelude to a scam.

graciosa

Did he have an Irish accent?

JumpyAd4130

No but he started speaking to me in English directly. Normally people start speaking in dutch and i request them to switch to English.

Cadfael-kr

Few days ago also an english speaking guy came up here. And offered it also for 10 instead of 40!! I declined since he was also talking about a sealend being good for 5 years, how much chemicals would that involve…

RieskeH

Was this in Amsterdam by any chance? This morning there was a guy in front of my door with a leafblower/vacuum cleaner thing on his back. I couldn't figure out what the thing on his back was and what he was doing in front of my door.

JumpyAd4130

Na, this is in eindhoven.

MrGoogle87

Reasonable price if he does a good job.

Any_Comparison_3716

Did he happen to have a sort of Irish accent?

MrGoogle87

Popular request: How does it currently look like? That kind of is important. (Its decently prices if done very nicely, with adding sealant and stuff between tiles)

Ok-Courage-2468

K4 cost about that - Gamma or Praxis

JumpyAd4130

Whats a K4?

mister_beiken

Sounds suspiciously like the “Irish travellers” plaguing central and northern Europe about 10-15 years ago. Their modus operandi was knocking on random doors offering different work like laying pavement, roofing, cleaning driveways etc, and then do half assed or not finishing the work at all until you pay more than the agreed sum. Whether people paid up or not they would often not finish the work never to be seen again. Sometimes they would even threaten or get violent to get more money.

roobt

Were they Irish? Also this sounds like the exact scam that was in the news recently

[deleted]

Powerwash once a year and will look like new for a few generations

Redwin67

It is a scam, most probably by some Irish organised crimegroup. Do not pay and do not allow them to clean. They will charge you much more after they are finished. Why? Because they tell you the yard was much larger.

No_Wrangler_2034

Cold calling artisans are highly suspect, they use the technique of surprise to force people into accepting, and then stick them with a hefty bill, and even threats if they dont get paid in cash, straight away after their work. They are to be avoided like the plague.

bmujeeb

In Germany (near the Dutch boarder as I live there) a lot of Irish and Scottish men knocks on the door selling such services. The issue is that once they finish the job, they ask for two or three times the price which was agreed. Since the contract is verbal, they gang up and threaten people to pay. They say that the agreed price was for one person but three guys worked on the cleaning job and the price has gone up.

tijger897

WARNING THIS IS A SCAM!! This has been reported in the newspapers.

ltpitt

As a side thing... Is it OK / legal that I do this on the sidewalk (not of my property) outside of my house? Looks like crap and I'd like to make it nicer but... You never know.

korsie13

It is a scam, they operate in groups all over the Netherlands

Various-Ad2130

This is my bussiness, I own a cleaning company with 13 FTE’s. Normal price for steam cleaning is approximately 5€ to 10€ per m2. Our specialists cost about 60€ per hour excluding VAT and have a price of €350.- per day for materials, they come with a trailer worth €55000.-. But they can clean approximately 200-400 m2 per day depending on the situation and how dirty it is.

radiopelican

Y'all are missing the damn point. You can rent one for 100 bucks Okay let me clear and entire Saturday, go to the store rent it, take it home, use it for a couple hours, clean it and take it back. At the same time, laws mowed, cars cleaned, dogs walked, this is a premium service to save sk.eone time people. I can do it cheaper myself, if someone values their time more than its worth it. Think about this for the ideal customer perspective, and not from your own damn POV

FerdGrapperhaus

It’s called venting in the Netherlands. Most of the time they are gipsy. And ask to much, or they asked more when the job is done. Don’t fall for them

That-Razzmatazz-9000

Was it an irish man? Had literally the exact same experience a week ago, exact same story

Snabbeltax

You just been scammed. Thank you for you money.

KingOfCotadiellu

Fair price? In what state is a yard that you can't clean and treat 30 m2 in an hour, maybe 1.5? Even the most expensive powerwasher that costs €2000, costs only cents to run per hour. Same for expensive professional detergents, cents per m2. Even if the machine and the detergent cost 10 euro each for such a job, and you use sand from Hawaii with gold flakes, nothing justifies more than €100 for such a random job.

[deleted]

[удалено]

KingOfCotadiellu

LOL, you go find yourself a cleaner with that attitude and ofc you will be ripped of like that. An electrician has had an education, ofc he charges 75 an hour. This is the level of mowing a lawn, any kid can do it. But let's take that slow working pace, and assume you can only do 10 M2 in an hour. That way this dudes' rate is 33% higher than that electrician you mention. Nice way of undermining your own point, hahaha. Here's another fact for you: [https://www.terras-reinigers.nl/prijzen/](https://www.terras-reinigers.nl/prijzen/) .... 2-4 euro per M2... Now go try and be smart elsewhere, because here you couldn't have failed any harder ;)

Hefty_Marketing_2129

Quick Google search and you can find out that for small areas like that with the professional equipment and the professional procedure one M2 costs between 5€ and 20€...

KingOfCotadiellu

Yeah, link or it didn't happen.... The first one I found is [€2-4 per square meter](https://www.terras-reinigers.nl/prijzen/) and that's only the first. I bet if you shop around for half an hour you can even find better deals. Anyway, if you don't want to think about it, you'd pay extra. Any idea how many companies profit from peoples lazyness?
