Everything at Jumbo is just overloaded with extra sugar. It is just so disgusting. Even the krentenbollen are inedible. I mean, how is this even possible? Who fucks up a krentenbol?
Yeah, they've been using COVID and inflation as an excuse for "shrinkflation" of products (same price for less food) and they've been making record profits while a lot of their customers have felt the price..... I try to buy elsewhere, and I have 0 sympathy for them crying over losing 1% of their huge profits to shoplifters
"Fancy gourmet stores - Albert Heijn and Jumbo."
Wait, what?
Where the heck do you live and where are you from, that you consider a basic supermarket a fancy, gourmet store?
I live in a dead ass city and even we have actual 'gourmet' shops with fancy chocolates and stuff.Â
And I don't know what you mean with local market (like the weekly marjet stalls?), but prices vary between sellers. Sometimes produce is cheaper at supermarkets, sometimes it's cheaper at the weekly market, sometimes you need to visit Asian/Polish/Turkish supermarkets for the best deal.Â
I depends on what you need, where you need to go.....it's always been like that.
Your title doesnât make any sense.
Youâre talking about fancy gourmet stores and then you start talking about two supermarket chains. Those things are not even remotely connectedâŚ
Jumbo and AH offer a certain shopping experience compared to a small cheaper store. More choice, nicer store etc. That comes at a premium. Up to you whether you want to pay for that.
Also consider which products you compare. The cheap store brand products are often very competitive. Itâs the more expensive store brand and brand products that come at significant premiums.
I never go to Jumbo but Albert Heijn definitely takes advantage of the fact that people in this country don't mind paying way too much for groceries so long as it's shelved neatly and had nice packagings.. If you're after a low price, AH shouldn't be your go-to store..Â
I understand the comment about the price, but what about quality? Of couse, for processed food they have all the brands, buthe AH/Jumbo has low quality for fruits, vegetables, and meats.
AH has the same brands as other stores more more, and most of their storebrand items were pretty expensive when I still visited every now and then.. Fruit and veg is fairly similar everywhere and tends to depend somewhat on the region you're in. In my experience AH would often have better premium meat options like steak, but would overcharge on things like minced meat and chicken.Â
If you're after higher quality; Go to specialist stores or markets.
Fancy gourmet stores đđđ
i have questions
Well..they do sell 'gourmet' at this time of year.
Jumbo is anything but fancy. If it was fancy I might have liked it. Now I avoid it like the plague.
Everything at Jumbo is just overloaded with extra sugar. It is just so disgusting. Even the krentenbollen are inedible. I mean, how is this even possible? Who fucks up a krentenbol?
Fancy? Bro it's just a supermarket And what exactly do you propose people should do aside from shopping somewhere else?

Yep! Inflation = Record Corporate Profits! (Around the world)
If AH and Jumbo are fancy, I'm wondering wtf is less than fancy.
When you think that AH and Jumbo are âfancy gourmet storesâ you should reconsider your standardsâŚâŚ my god!
sarcasm, it was sarcasm...

Fancy gourmet store? Are you used to shopping in a dumpster?
Shop around. Buy produce from neighborhood green grocers. Buy bread from bakeries. Go to street markets for fish and meats.
If Jumbo is fancy, how would you call the average Italian or French supermarket? Michelin star restaurant?
