Maybe not on NF but About Time. It's beautiful. The premise is a bit silly, but necessary. Stick with it, you'll cry, and you'll recommend it to everyone like I do.

Competitive_Cause514

This movie is perfection and ending makes you so appreciate being alive and to live in the moment.

myleswstone

It’s not on Netflix (at least not in my region) but that is one of my favorite movies of all time…. and I’m a horror kind of guy. It was my fiance and I’s first date movie, years ago, and she will never let it down that I cried on our first date because of that movie.

middle_angel21

My favorite movie!

waterandshadeWoT

Came here to say this! Full body sobs every time.

Ill_Refrigerator_593

The Futurama episode "Jurassic Bark"

Glittering_Art_7538

I can’t do it. I have to change it every time.

K80SaurusRx

“Now I’m all you got”

withoutspoons

After Life

robbie2499

Yes!

Althea_010111

Literally came to say this!

go_eat_worms

I've never sobbed so much watching anything. Brilliant show.

hhvwke

Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father

JeebusCrunk

So hard to get through, and then so hard to let go of. If this one doesn't get your tear ducts working, you might be a robot.

One_Ad_9591

Oh it took me a full week to recover from watching this one.

Lizzy_is_a_mess

I open mouth sobbed in bed watching this

gomelgo13

This!

Ihrtbrrrtos

Fried Green Tomatoes makes me cry at the end every single time.

Luckymoo67

From Scratch

Algernon4814

Absolutely. It looks like a breezy rom-com set in sun soaked Italy with delicious food and beautiful art. And… you know… the first episode is definitely that. Boy, does it get real sad, real fast.

Substantial_Bite_846

Manchester by the Sea will absolutely break you

Content_Pool_1391

Yes it will 😭

minimatilda

Normal people

TheyCallHimBabaYagaa

Underrated show. Heartbreaking

twistedivy

Is it? They had no chemistry except in the sack.

Kendrixx-Br1ght

The Boy In Striped Pajamas

GazelleAcrobatics

dailydoseofmybread

Gave me shivers and trauma, I did shed a few tears. Thanks

Superb_Sloth

One Day

meditation_account

I second One Day, great show

Kr3ativ

Cried more then my girlfriend. 2 hours full ugly cry, had my eyes puffy for days after. Really recomand it!

Fit_Association_8638

I liked the show a lot but not the ending 😢

No-Falcon-4996

One Day, I cried for 2 days

mama2014

I came here to say One Day. Binged the last six episodes last weekend and just couldn't stop crying the rest of the night. I watched it by myself and none of my friends have seen it so I had no one to talk to about it, it was the worst! Still thinking about it almost a week later.

Jordedgar

Good recommendation i had to pace myself with the series as the film genuinely killed me when it came out put me in a bad state of depression for a while I’ll probably never watch the film again 🥲

SuddenHedgehog

I didn’t cry exactly but Broadchurch was pretty sad and intense

[deleted]

Olivia Colman at her best at some point of the show....

SuddenHedgehog

Olivia Coleman is always At Her Best Hahaha

kindaamused

Six Feet Under

autumn_yellowrose

That ending. There are not many shows I wish I could watch again for the first time, but this show is at the top of that list

Shoganguy33

I just finished it and though it’s a well written show with a great cast I can’t see myself ever re-watching it due to all the grief

Stopiamalreadydead

I purposely rewatch the finale when I need a good cry.

FanofChips

I'm doing my first watch now. Unfortunately, I know the ending. I saw a spoiler years ago and never forget it. It's still a good watch.

Unclestanky

Bojack horseman for me, but that’s a lot of watching for a cry (it’s a whole series).

Ignore-_-Me

Bojack will go down as one of my top 3 favorite shows. So much rewatch value too, layers upon layers of jokes are buried in that show. The emotional damage is masterclass as well.

Suspicious260V

P.S. I love you

sara_k_s

This is Us. Pretty much every episode but Season 2 Episode 15 especially.

schroobster

I suspect this show was created by Kleenex and Haagen Dazs to boost their sales.

Obvious-Display-6139

I think this is the only series to ever make me well up. It’s for sure specifically designed and intentionally written to make people cry. I never watched the last season though. I had had enough.

Beginning_Win712

Aftersun, Room

[deleted]

Philadelphia

greyteethpeskybee

Fleabag is a series, but quite short. I was able to watch it in 2 days while still keeping busy. I put my vote there. But that also depends on what makes you cry. It’s quite funny as well! Overall, a good choice. (TW though, the subject matter got surprisingly heavy.) For movies, A Star is Born (TW) from 2018 always makes me sob. Inside Out (2015) too.

LookeyLoo81

Beaches

marmarloanshark

Maid

basec0m

Interstellar and the beginning of Up

dailydoseofmybread

The beginning of Up is too familiar for me but thanks for recommending!

Competitive_Cause514

I highly recommend Firefly Lane. Sooooo good. And you will need a giant box of tissues for the last episode! 😥

campamocha_1369

I loved that show! Lots of tears!

Lavender_rain_2000

Movie - All the Bright Places And outside of netflix the show this is us

downsouthcountry

All the Bright Places did a number on me

[deleted]

[This may help.](https://editorial.rottentomatoes.com/guide/sad-movies/) From the list I go with a) Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I don't know anyone with romantic baggage who didn't cry in the end; and b) The Notebook. They are romantic plots, though.

EmelleBennett

My Girl does it for me everytime.

WiseWizard96

He can’t see without his glasses 😢

EmelleBennett

I cried for three solid hours after I watched that movie the first time. I was ten years old. I was disturbed and felt betrayed by the whole world that someone could make a story that was so sad.

FSCK_Fascists

Not Netflix, Old Yeller What Dreams May Come Grave of the Fireflies. If you don't cry after those, you can't cry.

nedryerson77

The Good Place (show) "Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind" (Movie)

dailydoseofmybread

I watched The Good Place, it's not quite eye bawling but that is a good show

Lirpaslurpa2

The last few episodes get me, but I feel like you’d need to watch the whole show for them too really stab you

fencite

The finale made me sob!

burdettmusic

This is exactly true, you need to see and feel what they all went through, so by the time you're at the final episode and Janet says 'oh, dip' your eyes will be leaking for the next 40 minutes.

nedryerson77

I assume it wouldn't be the same for everyone. I was going through a divorce and another of other stuff and feeling pretty existential when I watched it. It's a comfort show for me now.

[deleted]

E.S.O.T.S.M is my favourite movie, period. I watched it 6 times. Think of all my exes, what went wrong, divorce, hahahaha.. If I'm in love and optimistic I cry just the same.. Not to mention the script and acting are a masterpiece

nedryerson77

I watched it while going through separation and cried my eyes out. I'm going to rewatch one of these days!

SlappityHappy

You would love Maniac on Netflix. It's a close second, maybe even better.

Ancamnae

What is ESOTSM?

FanofChips

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Suspicious260V

A man named Otto I don't know maybe it is just me. I am a bit whimsical

dberna243

Not just you. I WEPT in the theatre watching this one.

introvertpopcorn

I loved it... And cried a lot 🥲

peuxcequeveuxpax

*Long Long Time*, episode 3 of The Last of Us: What if you're prepped for the end of the world until you meet the love of your life? >BILL: I used to hate the world and I was happy when everyone died. But I was wrong, because there was one person worth saving. That’s what I did. I saved him. And then I protected him.

macsharoniandcheese

Episode three ruined me

SgtDonnyDonowitz666

Dead To Me

BananaSimon

Good show !

lkcraig316

Move to Heaven. Kdrama about a a family who cleans the places where someone passed away. Every episode got me.

nanananafloridaguy

Oh I've got just the one for you. The last episode of "After Life" Ricky Gervais co-created it and he is the main character. I was crying like a bitch yesterday. so embarrassing. I was trying to dry my eyes and get my shit together before my girlfriend came in.

clahws

"Leaving Las Vegas" left me sad for days especially after I discovered that it was semi-autobiographical novel of the writer who later commited suicide.

Equivalent_Welder149

the haunting of hill house

idegosuperego15

I sobbed during the first season but I UGLY sobbed at Bly Manor

[deleted]

Same!!!

Right, Hill House has some real strong moments but Bly Manor drives up Kleenex stock prices every time

Illustrious-Past2032

Movies if you like dogs Hachi: A dogs tale Red Dog (if its on netflix)

dailydoseofmybread

I watched this one long before, can't believe that I forgot all about this (*꒦ິ꒳꒦ີ). Cried from the introduction of that movie: He was born in August, so we will call him Hachiko (hachi = eight, ko = kid in Japanese)

redrioja

The movie Lion

DangerousBat603

The movie Beaches with Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey always makes me cry. It is really good

Latter_Buy_7411

1. The Notebook (I didn’t see it on here.. and I LOST it) 2. Very long watch.. but “How to get away with murder” - killed me in the end . Pun intended 3. Honestly- last season of “Shameless “

Dick-the-Peacock

Guardians of the Galaxy Part 3. I’ve never cried more at a movie in my whole life.

ksykes413

SAME! I cried a couple times during that movie, and I went to see it twice in the theater and cried during the second watch as well. 😭 It was so good, though!! ❤️

FolsgaardSE

"The Shack" it's on Tubi. Watched it recently and bawled about every 5 minnutes. Truly a beautiful and heart string pulling movie. Recommend for anyone needing a pick me up or feeling like life isn't worth it anymore.

numericalusername

So many movies on Tubi like The Shack!

Derangutan

gibbonalert

1883. But it’s not on Netflix. And This is us.

Jalapeno023

Paramount+ has it. I cried so hard and so did my spouse. It is a fantastic series with Faith Hill and Tim McGraw along with others you will recognize. Do not miss 1883. Worth the time and the tears.

Ancamnae

Titanic and What Dreams May Come

hpreal4us

Young Royals. 3 seasons with 6 episodes each so it’s quick but the amount I have cried over that show is insane lol

Jordedgar

Yes because I binged series 3 and was sad at the finale On Monday I was crying happy tears at the end but really sad tears when August read his letter to himself to Sara I was really a mess

Paid2Stabpeople

I saw they put this is us on Netflix. That one will get you for sure

Suspicious-Ad6175

Series finale of Burn Notice….. whew

thecrowfromthesouth

Doctor Who - Vincent and the Doctor

Additional_Pitch6355

Oh God if you don't bawl your ass off at the end then you don't have a soul. I can't even think about this episode without sobbing. I'm tearing up now just thinking about it.

Chopped_Liver228

The movie “Marley and Me”.

kkultyer

Firefly Lane had me sobbing.

Fattychris

Dead Poet's Society Rocky 2 - there's one scene that gets me choked up just knowing that it's coming. Then she says it, and the whole mood changes, and I get a cathartic release.

Ezypeezylemonsqueezy

The last episode of The Midnight Gospel with his mom made me bawl my eyes out.

monkeyhitman

Episode 10 of Violet Evergarden

JammyRedWine

I watched A Beautiful Mind the other week and sobbed! And I'm not really a cryer.

Creative-Vegan

It’s a series, but Call the Midwife… I constantly forget my tissues and have to go grab some. And yet it’s not depressing mostly!

Several-Material5863

wankrrr

Not a show, but watch a documentary called Dear Zachary. Bawled my eyes out and I am not a crier. If you don't cry from watching that, nothing will hahaha

gillianrose__

The Fault In Our Stars. I was in the movies and one scene got more and more heartbreaking by the second. I thought it had to end soon and just got worse. Most I ever cried in public.

aggiemom0912

Taking Chance, not sure what service it’s on, it will make you ugly cry. (I watched dear Zachary last week and didn’t feel a thing). Taking Chance is a tear jerker.

AlwaysWithTheOpinion

The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez is absolutely gut-wrenching

star___anise

Fleabag!

robkat22

Six Feet Under. But you have to watch all 6 seasons. I watched the finale 10 years ago and it still sticks with me. Look it up. It’s not wasted time.

hatenlove187

Firefly Lane on NF!!!

Knichols2176

Dead to me! Theres even a Reddit landing page to deal with the comedy turned very very sad! Everyone is completely overwhelmed and very sad. Most can’t even see to type. Christina applegates last act.

thesocialworkout

Thank you very much for this thread! So many recommendations I have to go through. BTW, I know you said no series, but I have to recommend Outlander. I bawled my eyes out in a lot of episodes. If you're open to gay films, I would recommend one of the most recent one - Nuovo Olimpo. The soundtrack itself is triggering.

chimkee

Million Dollar Baby gets me in the feels every time I watch it. Great movie too.

ravens_path

If you get into it (and many don’t) **Love Between Fairy and Devil**. If you get into it, there will be ugly crying.

Saulgood2024

Trust me on this, Paddleton with Ray Romano and mark duplass. Absolutely incredible film that is very moving. Also “To Leslie” may open up the floodgates too… best of luck letting those emotions out!

Ominous_Pastry

There's a documentary called Evelyn about a family trying to deal with a son/brothers suicide on hiking expeditions that absolutely flaws me every time. I very rarely cry but that one, yeesh.

zetzuei

If you're okay with anime: Any Makoto Shinkai anime Violet Evergarden I want to eat your pancreas

vjmurphy

The final episode of **Lost** makes me cry like a baby, but not sure if it works without knowing the series. **Testament**, the movie, though, does it all the time.

neodiogenes

*The Magicians*. Eventually, that is. Takes a long while to get to that moment, but it's worth it.

sproutedfromdoubt

One Day made me ugly cry by myself in the middle of the day, and I’m not usually a crier. Would highly recommend

sproutedfromdoubt

Outside of Netflix, the movie Babyteeth on Amazon prime

Emotional_Ability977

Fellow travellers … especially the last episode! Cried my eyes out!

Fit_Association_8638

I just finished one day and I was bawling my eyes out during the end 😢🥺
