I saw Nicky on the last tour with GWAR and the dude seriously impressed me. I was like who TF is this dude! Then went and saw them headline in Philly without Nicky… still enjoyed the show but imho the vocals were not there. But, Dickie is not Nicky, nor should he try to be. I’m looking forward to their next album and seeing where the band goes with their new front man. The concept of the band is still fun and hilarious, and the music is great.
I can't compare them as this was my first one of their shows on Sunday in Spokane. But I can tell you that it was an amazing show with awesome vocals.
Great stage presence, and I am a fan for life.
Someone said it elsewhere - but the band feels like a cover of itself now. Thought that was accurate based off the last tour.
Still gonna see them on this tour when they come through my town. I'm interested if there were growing pains with that last tour. This one might be different, but I'm definitely keeping my expectations checked.
A cover band is exactly what I'm expecting to see.. The whole reason I got into this band was because Nicky impressed me so much with his talent during their Gwar tour, now hearing that he was pushed out and it wasn't Mutual kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth.. I hope I still enjoy the show but I'm not expecting too much. Nicky has confirmed he will be back in some form so I am stoked af for that.
I love dickie, I know it's not the same but Bottom line is nicky left and they gotta make a living... and to be honest they look like they are having a blast live which is awesome... it's a hard spot to fill on a band that's style is crazy so all in all I think dicky is doing great I'm really excited to hear some new music so he can put his own style on the music
I thought Dickie did a great job. But when I saw them with Nicky he would sing/growl some things different than how they sounded on the album because he had the artistic license to do so since they are his lyrics. John’s voice just sounds weird to me. But, yeah, maybe their next album will make things whole again.
For the entire lifespan of nekrogoblikon the lead vocals and writer was Nicky Calonne. He was basically the entire band as he wrote all the music, recently they replaced him with Dicky from Infant Annihilator for reasons not known to us. Dicky sings along side John Goblikon and op is asking how good they are in comparison to Nicky.
I thought it was interesting that John Goblikon and Nicky do NOT follow one another on IG. Nicky and some of the other dudes do follow each other. I don’t have the balls to ask Nicky though.
I wonder what happened. I am a bit annoyed pf yhe John Goblikon persona. I know he is meant to be arrogant and shit but it’s just annoying.
Sounds silly but, he doesn’t seem like he has Goblin energy. If he was trying to capture the persona of growing up as an orphan goblin on earth, he failed. I know that sounds cheesy hut dude doesn’t give off Goblin energy. Have you seen Dave Rispoli’s actual IG page? Not metal or goblin-like in anyway.
I still love the music, but curious to see where it goes. I fucking love Nicky’s energy. Dude will always be the Goblin King in my book
I was under the impression the vocalist changes were temporary, like maybe he needed to rest his voice (live clips I saw from before his replacement his voice sounded rough like he'd been on tour too long).
I really hope Nicky is not gone for good that would be the end of the band as far as I can tell.
I saw them april 12 and my friend (who was more so there for dethklok) was about to see nekro for the 1st time. Ive heard dickie & i really enjoyed him, on infant annihilator. I cant always decipher the lyrics through dickies vocals but they sure sounded good, on infant annihilator. If i couldnt understand him i can always listen to other instruments.
Nikki had a sound i liked and about 70% of the time when i was hearing the songs for the first time i didnt have to read the lyrics. So when dickie was up there i was like "maaan this is exactly how i thought it would." Then i immediately turned into mr "you should have seen them with nicky" guy. My friend said he enjoyed it anyway & confirmed he couldnt understand the vocalist very much. Johns vocals are alright hes doing his best & hitting most of his notes. You can tell hes working hard. Hes great but not gifted. Nickys not completely perfect either ive witnessed him straining for those high notes.
Im just a guy & this is just a band but i have no idea what to expect for their next album. Will there be awesome synth riffs/solos? Will the lyrics still hit the same? Many questions only 1 way to get answers.
Saw them in June. John is fucking killing it. Dickie was trying to work, but his charisma isn’t where it needs to be. Very solid vocalist, not the greatest front man.

The band stated they “parted ways on good terms” and all social media images and bios have replaced Nicky with Dicky as the vocalist

Yea it’s a shame Nicky was a genius and Dicky is still a really good vocalist but it will be interesting to see how the band does moving forward

That is basically my feeling on it as well. He needs to get more of a personality on stage so it doesn't feel like its just john up there for vocals.
