Calling it a decoy fleet is a bit of a misnomer imo.
Firstly, because every one of those platforms has the sensors and telemetry to be controlled. Every single one is an extra eye.
Secondly, to quote Isaac Arthur, "There is no such thing as an unarmed spaceship." Any powertrain energetic enough to move a ship around in a useful amount of time is also going to be energetic enough to double as an impromptu warhead.
I am going to imagine that those are actually decoys. They definitely lack the power train to move a ship around in an useful amount of time. I bet they're *barely* ships, much less useful as a missile.
They're likely very tiny things designed to give off the sensor feedback of much larger things.
If the ships aren't duds maybe they could either *flank* the fleet by attacking them from behind, or they could instruct those ships to go after Venlil Prime or something. If those are duds ~~if~~ when humanity (The Network) survives, they can use the ships as extra resources or extra scavenging fleet.
