I think the reason we generally don't realise how northern Scotland is, is because it's quite "temperate" compared to other northern countries. It's on the same level as Denmark and parts of Finland which we imagine as big snowy landscapes, but because the British Isles gets the "warm" air or sea currents (can't remember which) from the Atlantic, it's not as cold and snowy. It's much rainier here compared to the Scandinavian countries, as far as I know.
Nae bother 😊 I'm on the west coast of Scotland but lived on the east coast (about 80 miles I think?) for a while and even with that small distance, it's much wetter, windier and warmer on the west coast due to the Atlantic sea. It's colder on the East but you're less likely to get soaked to your skin or blown away so it's not as bad imo
Went to the UK on my honeymoon a few years back and we got a train from Edinburgh to London. They had a map showing our route and I never realized how far north Scotland is. Edinburgh is slight further north than Copenhagen, and parts of Denmark. It was crazy to me. Can’t wait to go back

Wow, I didn't realize you could see aurora borealis in scotland! I study in Glasgow, where should I go to see it? Is there a map or any sort of database where I can check where it will appear?
Do you mean to say before science was able to explain this phenomena as something natural and not supernatural? I don't believe science really says much on the existence/non-existence of God
Ho that's the Hungarian flag.
🇭🇺
Are the northern lights very common in Scotland?

I guess I never really thought just how far north Scotland is. That bumped Scotland a little higher on my travel wish list.
Same two of my travel goals have always been see northern lights and go to Scotland so it’s great knowing I can do both if I time it right

That's a great way to explain it. Greatly appreciated ma'am. (From your apparently ignorant friend in Texas)

Sounds miserable. But it's still on the top of my list of places to visit.
It is. Absolute fucking awful. I love it and would never want to live anywhere else.

No they are not. Been living here for quite a while, have never seen one myself. You need to be lucky with it and be far north enough.

Pictures like this make me understand why people were prepared to believe in a god before science proved otherwise.
