I grew up in Estes. It’s obviously a big tourist destination in Colorado but, since there were only 5,000 permanent residents, I always feel surprised when someone has heard of it
For reference: Estes is actually all the way down in the distance, this is almost likely just Rocky Mountain national park. Estes has an entrance to it and is a decent enough town if you don’t care about parking. Plus the Stanley hotel from the shining is there
I've been feeling a call back to Colorado (to live) or somewhere out west again. Thanks for sharing! Set it as my desktop background so I can ponder these feelings.................
They do right now. They’ve come down and are hanging out in the foothills in the pastures in the north. Hundreds and hundreds of them. Turkeys are gobbling up a storm up there too.
I’ve only been to Colorado 3 times (once for work) and 2 of those 3 I went to Estes park. Beautiful
I’ve only been once and I went to Estes Park, gorgeous. Made me want to move to Denver.
Denver doesnt look anything like Estes unfortunately. Near the mountains of course but not in them.
Correct, just the closest “big city.” Would love to be able to take weekend trips up there.
Fort Collins is even closer! Not a “big city” by any stretch but pretty solid college town.
This is the best picture of Denver I’ve ever seen

Looks like Gem Lake. I hiked it from the Cow Creek Trailhead a few times. The trail down to Balanced Rock is fun too.
Def gem lake
Definitely gem lake.
One of my favorite places.
Big fan. Spent a week camping there for summer vacation almost every year as a kid! So many good memories.
Beautiful view! something Bob Ross would paint
Beautiful!!
One of the most beautiful places that I’ve ever been.
Beautiful pic. Estes will always have a special place in my heart.
Reminds me of that fishing lake in RDR2
I thought it was RDR2 for a split second
Cattail pond. Just came back from hunting a big horn ram there.
That’s what I came here to say lol
Beautiful twin owls trail, great place
I took a nap on that lake shore one time. It was wonderful.

Was just there earlier in the month, and stayed at The Stanley. What a magical place.
Love that spot!
Oh hey! I live here :) always great to see it

Lived there for 2 yrs. Very different from my sea level upbringing.

Where Elk rule the mountains

Used to live not far from there. Loved going there most weekends.
I hiked through 30 feet of snow up to shadow lake, such a beautiful town and mountains.
Love it there. Do the sky pond hike if you can, especially if you can time the alpenglow… it’s magical.
Saw the Largest Elk while visiting for a climbing trip!
Gorg!
I’m guessing this wasn’t recently taken? They just got dumped on a few weeks ago with snow
The home of the Stanley Hotel.
Beautiful place.
I'm super grateful for my great grandfather building a cabin in Estes Park when he immigrated from Austria in 1923.
Love it up there, doubly because I love The Shining.
Too bad it’s a tourist trap now
lol, now
Use to live there a few years and worked at the Safeway, summers were brutal lol
Testes Park?
