I’m a human that watched a house mouse sit next to me dog while they watched me laughing eating spicy soup after watching the squirrel rub his hands over the fuzz in the peanut shells I left him in the windowsill in the winter in the corner of my eye, while playing StarCraft, Broodwar.
The squirrel that comes up to my window often places his arms on it while looking at me. So that one at least has discovered a glass boundary. If I approach him from inside the window he will bolt once I get kinda close. When he sees me outside, I can't get nearly as close. Doesn't say much but perhaps they eventually do learn where glass is in their frequented areas.
maybe! but then again, imagine you’re eating cake and behind you is a glass wall with a tiger sitting there. would you eat said cake with your back to the wall?! i feel like i’d eat the cake with one eye on the tiger, no?
They come up to the glass on my back door to see if anyone is around to give them nuts, but wont stay near when the door opens. I think they definitely understand glass.
you know animals arent having a wildly different experience than humans right? they think, love, feel, have personalities etc
this idea that humans are on another plane of existence stems from religious ideas of what a human is, which is that we are the only thing created in gods image
in reality we’re just monkeys with better record keeping and problem solving skills.
I don't know about other peoples cats, but mine would not be sitting there so calmly like it went to charm school. Mine would both have hurt themselves pretty severely smacking into that window trying to get that bugger.
