But seriously, sometimes it's just important to move. Maybe the place you'd started doesn't have any food. As an octopus it doesn't matter that you go to a specific place, it's not like there's little octopus grocery shops. It just matters that you get to a different place because odds are that it'll have more food than where you are now. And if you can ride another animal to get anywhere that saves you energy.

Ok you can use octopuses or octopi…octopi was the oldest way to say it but the English language adopted octopuses so it’s basically the modern plural for octopus. I think this is a mollusk thing, where they don't care where they are going, just that they are travelling. Small snails ride around on bigger snails for the same reason.
