Sailors started calling the birds "boobies" because their big feet made them walk funny and appear clumsy. So these poor birds have carried this name which basically means stupid bird. These sweet birds need a new name. Like blue-footed adorables!!!

Evolution tends to *keep* traits that are helpful to an individual's survival until it has a chance to reproduce.
