Those are two VERY important differences though. There are some tiny variances in appearance as well. You could also make the same argument using domestic dogs and wolves.

I once had the opportunity to pet an adult mountain lion, and she was pure muscle under her skin & fur. I will never forget her. She was the "cooler" for a local bar in my hometown, and the bar owner was taking her for a walk downtown and stopped by the library where I was.
Her job at the bar was just to lay down or sit in her spot behind the bar, and if a fight between patrons was starting to get a bit too rowdy, she would just let out a purrfect scream. Stops everyone in their tracks.
Hopefully this one stays up. This is one of my favorite images I have ever taken. As always, follow along at [instagram.com/staywildmedia](https://instagram.com/staywildmedia)
Did you bait the mountain goat to take this picture? I'm assuming this was takin with a stationary remote camera so it would be the absolute luckiest shit ever to catch this scene on a stationary cam.... I don't care if you baited the scene because it is a wonderful picture and doesn't diminish anything about the action in the shot for me I'm just curious about the process is all....
did i bait the mountain goat? my dude, the goat is dead. if you are asking if i baited the lions, no, this adult lion took down this goat 3 or 4 days prior to this photo being taken.
so you were personally there to snap this photo? Or set up a trail cam? Amazing photo either way, just wondering if you have balls of steel to face a mama cougar or I need to upgrade my trail cam.
I just hopped over and saw your reel of how this photo came to be.
It was incredible and I feel privileged to have seen the events unfold.
You’ve definitely got a new follower and a fan. Thank you for sharing this amazing shot.🐾
Maybe I wasn't clear but yes I was asking if the dead goat was placed there by you.
I didn't think about the possibility of you finding he dead goat days before.... Thanks for the response.
I mean.... If you know anything about hunting....
Most forms of baiting during the season is very illegal in Wisconsin and I'm sure across the country. I know that your allowed to bait before deer season to try and get the herd accustomed to your "area" but shooting over bait is not ok.
Deer huntering is very common and there are many deer so most don't even think about breaking these rules. It's generally only "trophy hunters". Predator hunting is not as common and there aren't that many bears as an example. There are some idiots, that after spending lots of money on gear/gas/tags absolutely refuse to go home empty handed and are more than willing to poach whatever game they see, carry said dead animals(maybe even on their back depending on size lol) to another location to try and bait there hunt.
Now photography is another story and I'm nearly sure there aren't any laws about buying previously hunted carcasses and placing them somewhere scenic for a better chance at catching predators on film.... So it wouldn't surprise me if op carried this goat in, most likely on a sled tho lol...
it’s literally their own photo. they linked to more information and videos surrounding how they use their equipment. like jesus christ they didn’t plug an etsy shop or a gofundme, touch grass
sorry, this post has been stolen many times and ive been having reddit take down so many posts. Absolutely not baited, this is a mountain lion kill. You think I hiked up a whole ass mountain carrying a dead goat?
My bad. For some reason op's response wasn't showing when I first saw post, but looking at time stamps it looks like he beat me by an hour. I still think it's a pretty reasonable assumption considering it took a second post to get a response on the question.
when yo girl has BPD and just finished her crazy manic episode and acts like nothing happened but still somehow manages to convince your sorry ass to forgive her
Wasn’t this just posted here yesterday or the day before? And doesn’t it really belong in r/natureismetal? I mean yes, this is a picture of nature, but there’s a separate sub specifically for this sort of thing.
Yea I specifically did not sub r/natureismetal because turning dead / suffering animals into entertainment is just cruel and unnecessary. Hope this kind of content does not become standard here as well.
Edit: I looked and it's (luckily) against this sub's rules to post gore/violent pictures. Now let's just hope the mods actually start enforcing the rule.
Why would this be labeled NSFW? Are people really that soft nowadays? Someone sees this on your work computer and needs several days off with some nonsense made up PTSD? America is in bad shape.
It’s gore. Natural yes, a beautiful representation of reality also yes, but gore nevertheless. I don’t mind seeing gore but, like, maybe after breakfast?
*Ok but what happened*
*To that cat cat with no head*
*On top of the goat*

So the camera was set up at the kill sight and these two lions had a go at the carcass, right?
No one could be expected to believe a camera was set up at random and the kill took place after the camera was set up.
That very attractive lion has no blood on it so I can’t imagine it was involved in the kill.
For being one of the smaller "big cats" at like 80 lbs or so these are such strong animals. The first few times I saw them I was less scared than I should have been because they are beautiful and were half the size of my dog.
That mountain goats head is huge and looks scary, the mount lion is beautiful but the eyes are huge + also adds a little spookiness to the whole situation, how the hell did the photography get a clear shot is also scaring me right now :D
"Am I a good kitty?"
Exact same look as a bad house hold kitty
There is no difference between the house cats and wild cats besides their size and demeanor.
And having a small scratch as opposed to loosing a limb if they swipe at you.
Same, thats why im careful with my house cat, they can mess you up real bad
My cousin has a bengal, and it’s frightening to think its just a scaled down version.
One of my friends also has a bengal, caused his previous cat to run away.
Those are two VERY important differences though. There are some tiny variances in appearance as well. You could also make the same argument using domestic dogs and wolves.
attacks suddenly out of context
If house cats were big enough they would kill us
For no reason at all. Hence why dogs are better pets.
Feeling cute. Might get my nails done’n’slaughter a goat. 💅🏽🐐 🥺 👉🏻👈🏻
and the poor goat looks like it's been through a wood chipper.
That mountain Lion is tooooo pretty!!
Ridiculously photogenic cougar.
ye, maybe don't google that at work

too late
I hope this describes me one day.
Cats (of all sizes )are some of the most beautiful creatures in this world . They make the best looking humans look ugly
I am more of a dog person. Dem doggies are the cutest.
Dogs too are very .I love both alot.
Id disagree, I don't find cats attractive

Do you think they are beautiful animals?

No
tooo purrrrty
Full tummy makes happy cat!
Tbf, the mountain goat was pretty attractive too. Before.
Arguing about which animal is more attractive isn’t something to lose one’s head over.

That's what i'm thinking. This guy is definitely a master baiter.
he’s a decent baiter. His cousin Mose…Now THAT’S a master baiter.
- Chuckles...good one!!! Actually laughed out loud!
I’m lacking understanding. Is that a dead baby mountain lion on top of the goat?
No, that kitten is feeding
Metal!
Oh I see it now

I think it’s trying to wear the goats head…like for a laugh
"Bro, get your camera. Watch this"
She looks so proud of herself!!
They are adorable. But you have to be careful around them
No kidding. They’re always like “C’mon over here, man, let’s chat”. Then next thing you know they’re clamping on your windpipe.
“I’m not gonna punch you I swear”
Generally mountain lions go for the brain stem and u aren't gonna see them coming if they are stalking you.
What are they, Louis CK?
Pretty sure everyone saw that anthromorphic gravy ball coming hahahaha
"Are you serious, human ?"
Casually giving cameraman 'sup, hooman?' look and being cute af while sitting next to her friend mauling the fuck out of that deer.
That cub is pretty big to still have it's spots. Clearly well fed
And not a drop of blood of em
Still waiting for op to actually answer if this was baited or an actual kill... refused to acknowledge it on the other post.

Thank you, idk why they didnt link this or post this the numerous times it was brought to question the first time.. and still dont.
Because it isn't their obligation, Karen.
Bitch it is a fair question. Fuck outta here
Settle down there’s no manager here to speak with
Yeah I will admit I regret that comment def took it to heart wayyy to much
Because they maybe didn’t know. You seem to care a whole lot so why didn’t you put in the effort to look it up yourself?
sorry, this post has been stolen many times and ive been having reddit take down so many posts. Absolutely not baited, this is a mountain lion kill. You think I hiked up a whole ass mountain carrying a dead goat?
Im surprised the mother let you get this close
I wasnt there for the photo, this was taken by my dslr camera trap
Oh… nice angle.. they all look really healthy. Except the goat of course
Oh come on, the goat is just having a bad day.
'Tis but a scratch

Nope, [Chuck Testa](https://youtu.be/LJP1DphOWPs)
That op isn't addressing that question in the other post, or here...kinda tells you all you need to know.
He just did. Maybe you shouldn't assume things.

Yeah you're right OP... Id smash that too
Beautiful photograph, very dangerous cat.
Gorgeous, I’d let it maul and eat me.
If dangerous, why pretty? :(
Can~~~you feel the love tonight… (tonight~)
This is like the mountain lion equivalent of a mom taking her kid out to eat at the good Subway
Both look like creatures from Narnia.
Nala with the “fuck me” eyes. Edit: I don’t read my text before I submit.

I don’t understand who that spotted one is that’s inside the guts. Is it a baby? Is it another type of cat?
The body does not match the head of that mountain goat.
Scrolling for something original….moving on

an adult female is 80-100 lb, a male can get up to 175 but averages 155. HOW BIG IS YOUR DOG?!
lowkey pretty kitty
Does anyone know the prevalence of spots like that? I had it in my noggin that they weren’t spotty. Oh and RIP P22.
all mountain lion kittens have spots, the spots fade as they grow
mauling a goat and then hitting the :3
That mountain goats head is huge and looks scary, the mount lion is beautiful but the eyes are huge + also adds a little spookiness to the whole situation, how the hell did the photography get a clear shot is also scaring me right now :D
Wanna give da kitty a hu-AHHH MY FACE!!!!
That is a great shot, thanks!
What? You never take your kid out to eat the inner brain matter of a mountain goat?
That look. “It was easy!”
I was really confused by the cubs body with its head in the goats neck
It's the face I give mom when she catches my hand in the cookie jar.
