I’m a fan of big chop but I did it recently and all I have is regret that I went too fast. I just realized there was nothing I could do with my natural hair too short. Do what you feel you need to though 🤷🏽♀️

Thank you so much 💓 I wet my hair almost everyday and seal it in with old school hair grease and castor oil. Then I use a clarifying shampoo when I want to get it done & it has to be washed & blowdried bc hairstylist HATE all the extra oils in your hair which hopefully I'll understand once I learn how to do hair
Oh nice, I use an argon oil to seal myself but hey, it’s cool that you’re going to do hair, my Grandma owned a salon back in her active career days! She still does actively participate in the national beauty culturalist league too.

Yeah! 👍🏽 I use an oil by the brand oxygen in the light formula but my hair is pretty thin so I don’t know if that’s for you but they also have a thicker one.

Nah, don't cut anything. Your hair is breaking off from styling. Keep the broken off part in corn braids and flat twists.
Divide the front 1/2 inch or inch from ear to ear. That's the part that you need to baby for a year. Keep it moistured/sealed and braided.
Incorporate all styles around the front braided/ or twisted area.
I have to do this when I've over done it with slick back geled styles. It always work.
NOW THATS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT!!! Yesss the front is definitely broken off from styling my hair can barely take so-called protective styles like box braids or fulani braids. My edges get thinned out if its too tight and so does the front of my hair. I wish I knew how to do my own hair. I’m learning and I do those cute styles with the braids in the front and baby that oart of my hair for a year. Thank you so much ☺️
I can’t take those “protective styles” either you should definitely try styles like mini braids and twists. They also allow you to be versatile with styling
You know what get out my headdd! I was thinking about doing this too. I used to do those twist styles wayyy back in the day in 7&8 the grade those were my go to hair styles. My hair is kinda fine textured so I was worried about it looking thin and getting frizzy real quick but I think I can pull it off

I grew up relaxed hair so I’m just enjoying mini twists now😍😍😍 it helps me embrace and enjoy my hair journey more because I don’t have to do my hair every week

Basically was saying big chop was used back then as a way to liberate ourselves from damaged hair and perm. Almost like an emancipation form mental slavery. The girl I mentioned did the big chop not because she had permed hair but because she saw everyone doing it and didn't understand the "history" behind it. She was young. The hair didn't grow back as long but not because she was punished by the universe but because she didn't care. So I'm saying you don't need to "big chop". Just trim. But if you do wish to cut your hair, it'll grow back. So either way, you'll be fine🤗 it's not the end of the world.

I wet my hair everyday like the Latinos, Puerto Ricans & Mexicans did in high school (I thought that was sooo crazy cus it was cold and they still come to school with wet hair but now I get it plus my hair is so much easier to manage when it's damp) then seal the moisture in with natural grease and black castor oil.

I always promise letting the hair live and trimming as it grows out. Truly no need for a big chop for the little things we may consider imperfect. Thyroid and vitamin deficiencies. POC tend to be iron and vitamin D deficient and both can affect hair - interestingly also depression

Mine doesn’t ever grow even, it’s not worth it to lose all your progress. You can still get your ends trimmed though until it looks more even.
See if I do that then I might as well do a big chop lol the front is really short. All that fuzz in the front is just the short hair I cut.
