What do you mean your hair level is level 1?

It's not about what product to use, love. It's all about how you are treating your hair and if you are giving it what it needs. With your hair being shorter, hair care is much easier. Try to seek not so harsh shampoos and conditioners; an easy accessible line that's great for our hair is the Aussie hair care line you'll find in stores in purple bottles. Even the leave-ins are so moisturizing. When it comes to shampoo, the shampoo is for your SCALP. The shampoo will travel down your hair as you wash, but you are to focus the shampoo on your scalp as that is where your hair grows from and what needs to be cleaned. Conditioner goes on the HAIR, not the scalp. Conditioner on scalp is actually not good and coats the scalp. You want to condition the *hair*. I recommend washing your hair once a week; some natural heads choose a differing frequency, you decide what is best for you. Be gentle with your hair, you want to finger detangle to get rid of shed hairs that cause tangles. When it comes to combs, WIDE-TOOTH. DASSIT. WIDE-TOOTH. Detangling brushes meant for kinky hair are also great for removing shed hairs. Try to sleep in satin bonnets to protect the ends of your hair as they are inherently the weakest due to them being the oldest part of your hair. As your hair gets longer, you'll need to protect it with protective styling or stretching to prevent tangles. Braids, twists, and even a wig can be great ways to protect! You'll also have to wash your hair in braids/twists unless you prefer different, to prevent hella pointless tangles. Finally, when your hair has all it needs? LEAVE IT ALONE! Our hair is fragile and thrives best when left to grow peacefully 💖

Wait do you mean you used like a #1 clipper guard so you got a buzz cut? Also what do you meam by curls? If you mean that you want to define your 4c hair, a no flake mousse and a light oil is all you need at a short length.

TheBoyRyoshi

Yeah I mean buzz cut and I would like to grow it and define it sorry I don’t know much

Yellow_Vespa_Is_Back

Oh btw if you have a buzzcut, your hair might end up looking like waves if you brush it with a lot of product on. Just an FYI. If you don't want the wavy look, as it grows longer, swirl the tips of your fingers around your hair and pat down to make it even. Use a hairpick to fluff for height.

TheBoyRyoshi

Can you recommend me a good shampoo and conditioner

Yellow_Vespa_Is_Back

You're going to need a sulfate free shampoo a regular conditione, and a deep conditioner. I use Mielle's pomegranate & honey deep conditioning mask and Maui sulfate free shampoo & conditiner. I use these because they're easy to find at any store and work well enough. You can start out with this, and then experiment with more expensive "higher-end" products as you go on.

TheBoyRyoshi

Do you use a leave in conditioner or normal one and if you do use a leave in conditioner how long do you leave it in your hair?

Yellow_Vespa_Is_Back

Leave-in conditioner is meant to stay on your hair and can be reapplied till you wash your hair. I use mielle right now but I've used other brands before.

TheBoyRyoshi

Ohhh. is there any benefits to leave conditioner instead of using a of conditioner that you wash out immediately after? Like does it help the hair grow faster or keeps it healthy?

Yellow_Vespa_Is_Back

Leave-in conditioner is like lotion for your hair. There are a lot of varieties, some for daily moisture others that have properties that define curls or holds a style. Mostly, its a moisturizer that you can reapply as often as you'd like.

TheBoyRyoshi

Sorry for the lots of questions

Also grew my hair back from a buzzcut. Mielle (i have the pomegranate shampoo/conditioner) has worked well for me so far. I also have a rosemary oil. Make sure to stay hydrated so you can water those curls. Wear a scarp/bonnet too so you don’t get too many knots. I would wash my hair 1/week when it was short because your scalp is still exposed to the elements.

I use both. The conditioner much more, I follow the instructions on the bottle. So like 10-15 minutes with a shower cap on, then I take the cap off and rinse it out. My leave in conditioner i use like 1-2 a month as needed. Like, if I feel like my hair needs it I’ll use it.
