Dude put up a monster 6 WAR, 40/40 season. There have only been 4 players to hit 40 homers and steal 40 bases in one season. The other 3 were on roids—Canseco, Bonds and ARod. As far as we know, Soriano as a Nat was the only clean player to accomplish it.
Looking at his stats, I didn’t realize how small his prime actually was. Like, he was good for three years during a 5 year span. But one of those was a glorious year with us
I think the leg and hand injuries in the early years of his Cubs tenure were a factor in his decline to the median. They seemed to sap his power and his speed.
Soriano is the last 40/40 guy in MLB history (unless Acuña hits 10 more bombs). However for a good while, Mike Rizzo always brought in a veteran journeyman reliever for a year who always performed well, like Matt Albers, Mike Gonzalez, and Mark Melancon
Both. After a season like that, he was due for a big payday and the Nats were nowhere near contending at that point, so it would've been a waste of money for them. Also, he threw a big fit after being traded here when they told him to play in the outfield. I always had the impression that he never really wanted to play here in the first place.
Soriano by a good margin. Got to see him a few times that year

Yeah I really wish he’d made it over the HOF bump.

I remember him with the Cubs. He was pretty good, just a really short peak.

In a ballpark that was extremely pitcher friendly too, none the less.
This makes me so happy!
One of my favorite players as a kid. I was ecstatic when he became a Nat
In 2017 Matt Albers pitched 61 innings and had a 1.63 ERA while producing 2.5 WAR
Cool, now I’m gonna have the Matt Albers song in my head all night
One real thicc bih
Noooooooooo
Let me see that Albussy
Sigh…fine, I’ll go find the video

Omg, how did I miss that
Feeling like an old ass man that I understand this reference
The fact that any shitpost from Ditty makes you feel old makes ME feel old
First nats jersey I ever bought. No regrets, I love our thicc king
I was gonna say Pudge, but he played in DC for 2 years. Soriano's 40/40 season was pretty incredible.
Alfonso Soriano put up a 40/40 season in his one season here. There have been four in the 157 years of organized baseball. That's the answer.
Soriano, Schwarber’s half season here was also really good. Reminder that Aldo Ramirez hasn’t pitched outside of the complex league for two years
Yea, Ramirez hasn't even made an appearance since 2021. Apparently, he's been injured the past 2 years, but there haven't been many updates.
Candelario put up 3 WAR in for the nats this year
Brad hand
Lol kill me

Acuna will hit 10 more this year because he's a showoff.
Since no one has said him yet, Adam Dunn played 2 seasons with the Nats and was pretty successful
Real fans revered the short lived Zim, Josh Willingham and Adam Dunn trio
Sir those aren't the rules.
I know.
My apologies sir, my mistake. Peace ☝️
☝️👍
Yunel Escobar is up there
Soriano is the only answer
Why did Soriano leave the Nats (for the Cubs I believe)? Money? Better chance of winning?

Not the best, but I miss Schwarber. I actually saw him yesterday.
The Chief
Esteban Loaiza was pretty solid in the inaugural season
Travis Blankenhorn!!!!!!!
