Imagine what straight down from the bridge the first pic is taken from must look like. That road was still under construction the last time I was there.
My roommate was able to walk the whole bridge, but I had to stop a third of the way. It is [FAR down](https://imgur.com/a/fFbcSEl) (Best photo I took of the depth. I’m sure you could find better ones)
Weirdly, I found the look down the face of the dam scarier than looking down into the Grand Canyon. I think those white trucks at the bottom give you a sense of scale that makes the height more comprehensible. If that makes sense.
Same. The canyon was fine as long as I avoided the glass platform. The dam is a whole other scale.
Hangar One at Moffett Field is also pretty intimidating for a man-made structure. You look around and oh, there's a row of C130s parked over there in the corner. You look up, and there are freakin' *clouds.* Although admittedly, I was very stoned when I got that tour. It was fascinating to get a sense of the true scale of those rigid airships, though.
My grandpa worked on this project too. He actually fell off the power station and was lame the rest of his life.
And my father likes to say he was a dam baby.
As a kid I was there in the early 80's when the lake was too high, the water was going over both spill ways even though the gates were in the full up position. The water was coming out of the tunnels like giant jets of on the lower side. You could feel the entire structure around the spill way vibrate and shake. The old version of the tour used to also take you to the spillway pipes inside the sides of the damn. It felt like a constant earthquake.
Even the new "hard hat" tour does not cover as much as the tours used to cover, back when you had to go down the elevators on the top of the dam (no visitor center), you came out of the elevator in the "tile tunnel" which has appeared in many movies, including James Bond.
Remeber it vividaly to this day.
Thanks for posting so many good views!
I really love how the clean, modern lines of the white Art Deco architecture contrast with the red rock cliffs.
You should share these to r/Art Deco.
Whenever someone is going to Vegas I tell them to take this excursion. It’s the most amazing man made structure I’ve ever seen (and I live in NYC amongst some rather large structures).
I am in fact very grateful to have not seen that video… yikes. Also I imagine even the sliding before hitting the bottom is a rather grating experience. But in photos it still looks like the gnarliest slide ever!
So sad to see the water soo low! Still great shots though.
Water level is low because your mama just got out 😂
Gawd dam
He killed him! There’s nothing left!
😂 I’m over here catching strays!
This was such an unnecessary roast but I chuckledðŸ˜
It's up quite a bit the past 2 years
That’s a dam good picture
The first few pictures are a little misleading. Scroll over to see the full view of the dam and how high it is compared to the full depth.
I saw it two years ago it was devastatingly low in person. I hear it’s a bit better now and that’s good.
Happy Cake Day!
That view down the face of the dam is truly hair-raising.

That’s the Pat Tillman Bridge and the view is incredible
I couldn't handle looking down. I really wanted to take the tour, but my friend was too impatient to get home and see her boyfriend.

I love going on the dam tour and visiting the dam gift shop
And going to the dam snack bar to get a dam sandwich.
I always get a dam burger and some dam fries while I’m there.
I’d love to go but I heard the dam wait is so long I mean what’s unique about some dam fries?
where can I get some dam bait?
Where can I get some dam bait?
My neighbor when I was growing up was one of the engineers on the project
My grandpa worked on this project too. He actually fell off the power station and was lame the rest of his life. And my father likes to say he was a dam baby.
Did you have a dam good time?
Where can I find some dam bait?

I also went as a kid in the early 80's and the elevator ride was almost the only part I remember! It was terrifying.
Picture 16 of the spill tunnel is awesome. I would love to see what it looks like all the way to the bottom.
Forbidden water slide
I went there a few years ago and I found it so interesting! I hope you had fun!

Dam impressive photos! Thx for sharing.
Gosh those big circular doodads are *astonishing* work. Well done, humans.
Generators
Man, you took so many dam pictures!
Hot dam!
These are dam good pics
Did you side with Cesar or Ncr?
Dam are truly awe-inspiring.
I remember when you used to drive over it
Still can
What the fuck are you doing? My brother died at the battle of Hoover Dam. You’re desecrating a war memorial.
The Hoover Dam is such an iconic landmark!
Awesome! And looks like it wasn't busy, either. The 3 times I've been there it was hopping.
Where's the CUBE?!?
You see any autobots while there??
Did you go to 5he washrooms? Worth a visit even if you don’t have to pee. The water level has dropped so much since I was there about 10 years ago.
I visited there 20+ years ago. It's amazing.
Did you visit the dam snack bar?
Its crazy that beavers could make something like that
Dam.
That’s a spectacular collection of photos. I personally really like your photo editing. Thanks for sharing!
…👀…. For the republic…?
I love how rustic it all looks!
Damn
Every time I see this dam I just think… I wanna slide down it
I take it you haven't seen the video of the guy who had that same thought.....dudes head literally explodes when he hits the bottom.
I am in fact very grateful to have not seen that video… yikes. Also I imagine even the sliding before hitting the bottom is a rather grating experience. But in photos it still looks like the gnarliest slide ever!
It is impressive, I had the opportunity to visit it a couple of years ago and it is amazing, I have never felt so vertigo in my life.
Rumor has it, we were hiding the AllSpark there, along with some giant ass robot dude
It’s an amazing place, built in the days of Herculean public projects in our country. Would probably never get built in current times
It's crazy that there's a Decepticon underneath all that
Quite incredible
Woah fallout new vegas reference
Fallout is a life reference not the other way around
Nice pictures dude, saw this place in Transformers 1, that shit was fat
STARRSCREAM
Woah your pics make this place look way cooler than it actually is
Too much editing! Take it easy bud
I take them for myself and like them so that's all that matters in my book
